Hm, I not too good at drawing mechs, so escaflowne wouldn't be that good of an idea, because I would have to draw the characters in pixel form the elaborate. There is a lot of detail in a robot.

I have a good idea for dn angel, I'll write up a short description a bit later on.

Scrapped Princess, it would make a good rpg

Or make an rpg with characters from many different series, it would make a good platform for comedy and parodies of various anime.

I'd like to see a Full Metal Alchemist rpg. That'd be cool. Alchemy would be good for spells/special abilities.

Maybe an Armitage rpg. Anybody ever play a game called Shadowrun on Sega Genesis? That game was cool. I like those futuristic rpgs.

never played it on genesis... on SNES though... i have....

and i'd say since DNAngel was usually fairly episodic (at least in the beginning, didn't watch but about 6 eps) it'd make for a good 'this stage is get _____ from ____" kind of game.

One Piece without a doubt, With all the devil fruit abilities you could make into spells and skills it just makes sense. Plus you've got tons of heros and villans provided with a great storyline to go off of. And doing a world map would be a blast you got North, South, East, and West blue plus the Grand Line. Its practically all layed out for you just begging you to make it into an RPG.

So, are you really trying to make some game? Myself, I'm thinking of playing a bit with Game_Maker5 and Breath of Fire 2. Thus far I have noticed that making levels isn't that hard, but how to create dialogs with multiple answers and relative follow-up questions (not to mention that the question answers need to be recorded to registry). Also, if it is an RPG game, how you change from regular view to "battle-view" and create spell/item/etc-containers and stats they affect?

A bit'o'interesting coding...

Narutaru? I know it sounds weird, but it'd be cool with all the dragonettes... Plus, there is alot of action during the series.

Ha Ha, you are using RPG Maker. Thats for people with no coding talent whatsoever.

Look Mr. ChibiDusk, I respect you and all, but you cant make RPGs out of Animes and Mangas. Its illegal because Mangas/Animes are copyrighted. That means that unless you get a legal document signed by the Anime/Manga maker and you, its illegal to sell it, post it for download, and advertise it. Sorry man.

By that basis, all fan-works are illegal, and do the big companies start suing small persons?

i guess.....er....
what i mean is he can make this game and show it to his mom and dad, or neibors etc. but he cant go and sell this game and post it for download. Any form of advertisement towards this game is illegal. that includes posting it for download, selling it, giving it to mass company stores so they can sell it. Your best bet with this game is to try and sell it to Konami. They will get all the legal junk....oh wait....if you are using the RPG maker, then you cant sell it to Konami. sorry Dusk, YOU LOSE

I was never going to sell it o.O
But then, what about fanart and fanfictions...they use the characters, and you can download them. We would have a LOT of people being sued right here at AS...

Hmm... GuruGuru and Hunter X Hunter would both make good RPGs. Of course, there's already 3 or 4 HxH RPGs out there, but I'd like to see one in English.

Maybe add Mahou Shoujotai or Uninhabited Planet Survive to the list. They'd both be unconventional games, but could be a lot of fun to play.

As for legality, the rules that cover dojinshi would allow you to do just about anything here, provided you respect the original copyright holder's wishes should they be voiced. You *could* charge money for your game as long as you list the copyright info in the credits, along with a disclaimer about this product not being officially approved. As long as noone objects, you're in the clear (hint: don't make a porn game based on a kid's show).

It all changes when an American company picks up the license, since our definition of 'derivative work' is a lot less forgiving than Japan's. Any attempt to charge money could be met with legal ramifications. If it's free, however, and can't be proven to be damaging to the original property or the owning company (again, porn will get you in trouble here), then you could qualify for 'fair use', and be allowed to distribute however you want.

In the end, of course, not enough people are ever going to see these games to make a company care enough about them to sue.
