That's what I figured it had to be, but クリンナップ seems wrong spelling-wise, even though both places use it written like that.

It shouldn't do that, except for a few programs which will detect which locale you're in and put themselves in that language.

Either way, you don't need to have the locale on while playing it, just when you install it. So you can change it to Japanese, install Umineko, and than change it back.

I can't speak about XP, but this won't work on Vista. You're going to have to keep your computer locale on Japanese, otherwise you wont be able to play music/sound files with Japanese characters in them. There's also a check when you boot up the game to make sure you can open files like that.

As for what Japanese locale does to your computer, everything will still be in english, but your backslashes ( \ ) will look like yen signs, although they will have the same function. Any system text fonts will look slightly different as well. All this can be 'remedied' by simply switching back to an English locale settings, so those changes won't be permenant. Keep in mind that everytime you change locale, you need to restart your computer.

This has probably been asked before but where does Umineko store savegames? I'm running on Windows Vista.

I'm pretty sure save files are stored within the actual onscriptor. Unless you mean the game untranslated?

Check C:\Users\Appdata (or whatever it is, not on my Vista comp atm) for save files.

Uhh, hi guys. I'm trying to get my friend into Umineko so I let her download the demo. She says there's no sound....We tried using the guide to change the locale to Japanese, but we're having problems cuz I have XP and she has vista. Does anyone have an image guide for how to do it on vista? ^_^ Thanks.

Vista process:

Control Panel --> Clock, Language, Region --> Regional and Language Options --> Administrative --> Change System Locale to Japanese.

Does 07th Expansion or r07 have a public email address? I don't have any Japanese skills so the site is really hard to navigate for me.

Change the _ to an @ and add .jp at the end.
I do not believe Ryukishi nor any of his staff speak english well, just FYI.

@Mods, not sure if this is against the forum rules to post an email address.
If this is a problem please delete this post.

It's on their website, now that you've pointed it out I've seen it there as well. I'm not sure why they'd rag on you for it considering it's there to be seen.

As for the english part, don't worry about that, I have a plan.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post... but... I was watching a Youtube video of Umineko... and apparently, Beatrice has a laugh sound effect... for some reason, I have never heard it, and I'm on Episode 4 now. o_O;

... is something wrong with my game?

Have you heard any sound effects? Beatrice's "cackle" is rather common in the "????" sections.

Beatrice's laugh isn't supposed be problematic because it's named ahaha.wav. Check if you have this file under SE.

I hear the horror sound effects... those high pitched "EEEEEEK" things. I've never heard them in the ???? sections. And pages moving, and the sound effects for new characters and deaths.

EDIT: For some reason, I don't have it. o_O;
