We're supposed to believe she has an accelerated consciousness and perceives the world differently. She lives most of her life online where people can be anything they want and make themselves look pretty. She's been watching Haru for some time and compared to the dog eat dog world where she has spent a lot of her time this dude is supposed to be different from anything she's ever seen... I suppose. Remember, she's been in "hiding." Someone tried to challenge her in school. So then she started investigating the entire student body. Haru caught her attention. She then noticed his mind was incredibly fast and at her level. She kept on watching him, I suppose. She can jack into the school cameras and audio receivers. She's been watching his life for some time. During this time, she got to like what she saw... I assume. |

Accel World is basically telling the otaku that it is indeed possible to find a beautiful girlfriend as long as she has same interest with them. Even better if you are 3~10 times powerful/skillful/dedicated than her. It helps.
But still, I don't completely trust Kuroyukihime either. I mean, the car accident probably is part of her master plans to lure Cyan Pile out from the shadow and at the same time, completely put Haru in guilty position, so that he will help her to the end (out of guilt feeling) for her ultimate quest for power. It is just a matter of time for Kuroyukihime to reveals to Haru that Araya and other hospital staffs (nurse/doctor) are/were her partner-in-crime. |

It's still a pretty bad plan to get hit by the car because it could seriously injure her.
If Kuro is really planning something to lure out Cyan or ensure Haru total royalty, I think she's smarter than using a plan that can actually kill her. I'm still going with the theory that Kuro's attraction to Haru is more like an otaku self fulfillment until there's more sign of her being a villain. It's understandable her name, her shady past where she betrayed her friends, and her attraction to less than attractive character do raise alot of suspicion I guess lol.

What still doesn't make any sense is Haru. Seriously, after the first day, he should have been on damn cloud 9 with a hot girl spending time with him. It's called "validation", that he now has in spades. Even the most jaded would still take that validation, as it's the one thing he truly wants in life, whether he'd admit it or not. He wouldn't go on with the whole "pawn" bit. I hate to use the phrase, but Haru really needs to "grow a pair". It'll probably be another 15 episodes before he really does. This really is a "shut your brain off" series. At least until the MC improves himself. |

i think haru is a very realistic character given how he is bullied, his low self esteem and the way his firnds treat him, he is someone who found something he can be good at so he is eager and willing to help someone, specially if its someone who has him mesmerized and in top of that treats him nice, but his low self esteem dont let him see himself in the same level as someone like kuroyuki wich is also why he cant see her other than using him, but since for once someone is relying and trusting him he is ok with that.

The confession from Kuroyukihime was actually very believable. I was wondering what type of cheap trick the author was going to try and convince the audience about how Kuroyukihime loves Haruyuki, but it ended up very logical, actually. Girls usually end up liking a guy because she finds something really attractive that she values highly. In this case, it was natural talent that she strives for but he far exceeds. When a girl has everything, she looks for what she doesn't have.
This episode was very exciting. I love every minute of it. Chiyuri actually willing to give up Haru for Kuro was a bonus for her, with a minus from last week's episode, so she is now flat. Quote:

Loving the show so far.
Really liked how they did Kuro's confession. The way she reasoned it really worked well and for me fitted her character perfectly. Much better then the usual childhood promise yada yada... Some people were mentioning hot girl and otaku.... Bill Gate's sperm is the second most wanted by women in China and he is about as geek as you can get. Kuro said that she was impressed with his speed, then the fragility of his real self won her over. Now that as a reason to fall for someone makes a lot of sense to me! I don't think she is trying to use him, because she has a lot of other "weapons" at her disposal then to sacrifice herself under a car for him. She has already shown what she is willing to do achieve her goals, but her goal can't be achieved if she is dead.

Count me in as that though this eps so "full of sh*t" lol
I didn't care thought, the production value is stellar as always and the OST is great.. and dat freaking epic cliffhanger. And in the next episode its seems epic fight about to happening, as long Sunrise milking us great duel avatar battle, I didn't care the story is bad or not.

... Ok... Seriously what was with this latest ep.
So I have been relatively enjoying Accel World for the past 3 episodes. Although it wasn't top tier or anything, it has been pretty solid for what it was as it has been reasonably well executed despite being an otaku wish fulfillment type of show. It's virtual reality concept and world was intriguing to me at the very least and I liked Butterfly Queen as a character. Then comes episode 4 and funny enough Kunagisa's image colleague actually reminded me of Guilty Crown in terms of bad plot revelation/progression. It's even more fitting because Yoshino (the writer for Guilty Crown) is also adapting this. Firstly, the first half of the episode consisted of harem comedy shenanigans. Out of the blue Butterfly Queens starts like a tsundere being all jealous and all because Arita cabled with Chiyuri. Then comes that awfully cliche scene with the main character dreaming doing of "naughty" things regarding his harem. At this point, I was like "Ugh, it's probably one of the more lighthearted filler episodes", but I wasn't upset or anything. Unfortunately I was wrong as it got much worse. That melodrama confession. Firstly, I can't take a confession to a "pig" seriously at all. Although I never disliked Arita nor his "chubbiness" or "pig form" per se unlike some people here, there's a line in terms of realism that shouldn't be crossed and this crossed it. How can you buy this "first love" bulldust for a girl of Butterfly Queen's caliber. She's smart, good looking and then she falls in love with more or less a "fatty" for pretty much no reason. And then she gets hit by a car and is now either dead or effectively paralyzed. Oh great, we have soap opera antics too! And to top the terribleness, we get a very cliche revealment of the bad guy (Cyan Pile or whatever the name was) being Chiyu's boyfriend, Taku, MC's best friend. So what the hell! This episode was awful. They just drove themselves into a wall in terms of plot progression with this episode. My expectations for this series has now plummeted. I think that was sort of expected since the last episode, so its not that much of a surprise. I mentioned before that I expect Chiyu as a brain burster as well, especially considering her boyfriend is one. Although, now when I think about it, if she was, then she would have shown up at the school network. Well, if she isn't now, I'm sure she will be some day.

that confession should have come after they have spent some time together, having experienced a lot of hardship and such. But here? No! I can't really feel that supposedly deep emotion at all! it rather feels like the usual lecture she gives to Haru.
feels like an info-dump. but the last part of Haru staying in the hospital for an entire night and recognising who Cyan Pile is redeems some points for this anime (though having to fight your best friend is also cliche). Is Accel World supposed to be 24 or 12 episodes? At this rate, it can finish in just 5 episodes!

While I have read the manga (I understand for the most part), there's so much hate and rage for the fourth episode. Please stop with all that rage and be hopeful that the fifth episode will be better even though the clichés they provide are a bit overused.

If you take into account it took 4 years for the original Kings to make it to level 9 (well, it took Kuroyukihime that long), it will be some time before Haru reaches level 10. He is just at level 1 right now, and he hasn't made it to level 2 in 4 episodes. I'm expecting that they will not reach that conclusion even by the time the anime ends at 24 episodes. We haven't even seen all the characters in the intro that is supposed to be part of the main group.

It seems the people who read novel have some disagreement. Spoiler:
This episode clearly states that kuroyukihime is a trustworthy alley. It is just some people are still struggling to deny her sincerity; Haruyuki's self pity feeling is contagious.
