What a fucking great first episode !
It's as excepted from a combo like Fate/Zero + Ufotable The musics were great, the openint too, and the end too !! A good pacing for a first episode. A great intro which introduce you most of the protagonist. Really great Saaaaaaabeeeeeeeeeeeer ! Irrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ! Aoooooiiiiiiiiiiiiii ! Can't wait for the next episode. Definitly, the show of this year |

Well those characters were rather talkative. Ufotable must've had a hard time coming up with ideas how to make the visuals excting those times (lawl at the magic Risei and Tokiomi circle walking) but over the course of time the script already did it's job in capturing the thrill of the battle that is about to start.
Having said that, I don't think I can wait one week. Saber at the end was just too much. Also the preview lines started of rather lime but they threw a nice one out with Kirei's first instruction. And Welvet scenes were quite heartwarming among all that ruthless masters. Oh and fearing they'd throw out their whole animation budget in the first episodes I'm rather happy they used a lot of shortcuts and concentrated on background CGI's they can hopefully reuse quite a few times again and put their money in the awesome scenes later. Great art, great prologue. Very complicated and I luckily have some patience and the brainpower to crunch it through all (and I love it).
Excellent art and visuals, and that's to be expected from a Fate franchise. I was disappointed at the lack of "frames per second" (in other words, animation) in the OP, being visibly choppy. This is all professional, and BADASS. I'd love to know more about Emiya's background as a cold-blooded assassin who ignores traditional Japanese ideals of honourbound combat. He reminds me of games by Valve corporation in fact...sneaking up from behind etc...

So awesome. The animation is beyond good. The brith of Ilya and little Rin and Sakura were so cute. Aoi and was it Iri? are so hot.
Lol at Waver stealing the relic to get even with Archibald, he has no idea what he's gotten into. The head of Matao should just die already, how can he do that to poor little Sakura. Was so sad when they showed her. Sympathizing with Kariya already. Tohsaka is probably the worst father ever. Kotomine just seemed so gar with that voice, but it doesn't quite match with his current self, imo.Best part was at the end when Emiya summoned Saber!

Remember this is the 4th war but they know each other since hundreds of years. The father of sakura was very much aware what kind of magic the matou use and how, you don't really need to understand the method to came up with an idea on how they use the worms and how they would implant their crest on his daughter. Thats why this guy deserves a brick on his face. Yeah as a magus he was saving a great amount of magic that would go to waste on sakura but that idea fails when you see that he sent his daughter to hell with no care about her survival. Quote:

Wow when you take this first episode it makes some events in the original series feel like a complex sibling rivalry .
Still now this is a first episode. Huge and giving a ton of information to set up the events to come. Got a good picture of the Masters involved in this and all should be interesting characters. Well that Waver kid seems like an idiot who is getting in way over his head just to prove a point, but whatever . Still favourite character has to go to Kariya so far. What a crazy guy to go this far. Can definitely tell how much he cares not only about Sakura, but her mother too. He's destroying himself just for the sake of freeing them from his madman of a father. No wonder he was so disturbed upon hearing what had happened. Even coming there as fast as he could it was just too late. What that poor girl has gone through...geeze. You know it isn't going to go well for him, but damn if you don't want to cheer him on anyways.

I can hardly contain myself for the next ep.
Truly this is how Fate/stay night should have been. Great visuals, music, and great presentation for ep 1. I cried, screamed at my monitor in rage (by the end, my rage will become a Conceptual Weapon ), and laughed (mostly at Wavers antics). A really good start. |
