I was a little depressed after reading Omni's review [Random Curiosity], but I do agree that it does seem slow. ArtLand's cramming two chapters and episode is kind of questionable on my standing with the manga to anime adaptation.
Spoiler:
With all of the other anime that's floating around, the traditional shoujo was a breath of relief for me. I'll be blogging about this as fansubs come out since my vocabulary still isn't yet good enough to understand completely without misinterpreting it. |

I must confess, I'm a bit baffled by the amount of negativity - I watched the sub of the first ep and I absolutely loved it. I find both leads enormously appealing (which is a rarity) and I think the acting is excellent. The aesthetic was fine for me - not flashy, but perfectly suited to the material. For what it is, I thought it was a superbly constructed, well-written effort.
The other thing that surprises me is not a single Kare Kano mention in the reviews, as far as I've seen. Much of the first episode strongly reminded me of KK (and that's a good thing, other than the ending) - am I the only one? |

Yes, all this negativity is confusing me as well. The only aspect of the episode I found slightly tacky was the voice acting on Yano's part, which felt really brisk... sometimes it felt very natural, yet at times it also felt very not so. I felt that everything this first episode introduced was done very tastefully, quickly, yet comfortably. I'm looking forward to how this develops.
Now, I have an extremely farfetched idea. You know when Nanami asks Yano what he would do if he was dating a fickle girl, and Yano says, "I'd kill her... just kidding." Does anyone else find it disturbing that (you find this out in the next episode previews) Yamamoto's older sister cheated on Yano and then died afterwards? No, I'm just being stupid... Yano says it was a car accident, so I should probably believe him and not accuse him of murdering his ex-girlfriend... XD Last edited by aeroshadow; 2006-07-24 at 22:47. |

I actually think BGI has the potential to be even better than His & Hers... That series was often great, but I found Yukino's hyperactive insecurity and raving ego a bit much at times. I actually liked the eps that focused on her family and Arima better. By contrast, I love Nanami - she's insecure in a low-key way, and I think that wispy voice suits her perfectly.

Well - I'm sure there's a manga reader out there who would love to spoil us, if you're right. We'll just have to hope they can resist the temptation! |

You have no idea how good it makes me feel to see people liking this show -- thanks to The Triad. I've loved it from the first raw, but I was beginning to wonder if anyone else would. It has certainly given me a lot of enjoyment through four episodes. It seems very artistic and well paced to me so far. Not to mention quite moving. And it certainly does have a feeling of KareKano, what with the sketch-like art, the chibi moments, the somewhat distant male lead in early episodes, and the great way we get inside the female lead's thoughts and feelings. As well as the situation, of course.

Episode 1
Yay shoujo anime are always a welcome to watch~ I felt it's kinda, uhm, "simple and plain" which in this case good. There's this girl, and there's this guy, in the 2nd episode they're dating. Usually it takes at least 10 episodes for that to happen LOL. I'm curious about Yamamoto, her older sister, Yano's lie and when Nana said "I felt as is I've seen him (Yano) before". These things will make me watch Episode 2, so yeah, I'm gonna follow it. Quote:
We'll know more in the next episode~

The subs did it for me. This is fast becoming excellent material. Besides Cosprayers (and maybe Dokuro-chan), Triad never picked a bad project.
I actually prefer the character designs now to Kare Kano. And I find affinity with the characters more now that I'm a total slacker instead of an overachiever. The animation has grown on me, I never said it was downright terrible, just 'low budget' and unique. A keeper, this. |

Just watched the first ep with Triad's release. All I can say for now is that I like the feel of the story, although the first part was like it was really blazing up the pacing of the story. The graphics are ok, I say too that they gave emphasis to the fluidity of the characters. Like when Nanami was in the rooftop talking to Yano and her hair was moving around. (yes, I know simple things like that) But it makes their conversation more subtle or interesting or whatever.. Really looking forward for more subbed episodes for this. |
