I think this episode could've as well been the last one - the only thing that is left to show is brother/sister conclusion, and it's actually not interesting at all - leave it to the viewer's imagination.

How can you SAY that? Soon the scientist onboard will probably hear the story of Emily. I'm sure the higher ups in the military kept all this top secret so what will happen if this gets out? The truth. It can still be a very interesting show. Look at controversy of Brain Stem Research and here we have intelligent aliens being dissected as common animals. What a travesty!

Perhaps this is the real reason why the Union and Deague are in warfare with each other since Deague supposedly use unmanned ships perhaps it's a war because the Deague did not agree with the travesty on the research on the aliens. The excuse we heard in the beginning for them to be at war with each other was so laughable it didn't even sound plausible but now a disagreement on the treament and use of these aliens could be enough to cause military to split and for two different governments to a war that has lasted years.

Quiet you. That really doesn't mean anything in the end though. Views equate to curiousity that people have in a given topic. If it were a matter of posts its still pretty popular on this board. However, on the internet it may not be widely recognized at all. That and its barely been interesting up until now when it suddenly got a plot and some background. Now that it has one its gotten quite better.

The war itself was already being fought when the Aliens enter the picture.

Also Strain isn't that popular or we have our own forum. Althought we do have more post then 2 of the new shows that have Forums.

Why forsake your race for one you barely know and insist on killing them all. Seems like a pretty bizarre change of heart/allegiance if you can even call it that. I mean are we supposed to accept his decision to forsake the entire human race and condemn them to death just because the other race is a loli race (I think that is all there is too it, they want us to sympathize with Ralph because he's protecting loli's by massacring there oppressor's). Still I really hope there is more to it than that because that is pretty shallow and bizarre reasoning and they can do much better than that. I mean I'm sure he could have tried many other methods such as heroic rescue of the specimen's or revealing the truth to everyone and seeing who stands where, instead of assuming that everybody is the enemy. I'm sure at least some politicians in the Union would have launched an investigation into the whole matter and popular support would demand some anwers as to what the Union has being doing with these loli's.

It Seems like Gundam Seed Destiny rationality in the vein of characters like Dullindal and Djibril. Ralph is officially teh suck in terms of character believability.

the way i see it, it has to do with the ancient strain memory transfer system, ralph probably was exposed to the same flood of memories and emotions--condensed into a single surge, and it probably had a profound psychological effect on him, making him insane.

it's not unlike what sara experienced, but from a different perspective, ralph felt he had killed a child in combat, one that resembled his little sister (at least in his eyes).

and disloyalty and disgust for the human rase, misanthropy, isn't all that unusual--not if he witnessed the same abhorrent vivisection procedures... it's more akin to madness, but not unbelievable. wanting to annihilate a warmongering humanity out of spite for all it destroys is an absolute action, and in the skewed way japanese see things can almost be seen as an honorable single-minded cause.

To c^2, Xellos, and everybody else thanks for reading my post for episode 10. In fact, I never expected that some people would actually agree much with much of my theories I proposed for this episode. I was expecting just a little or few bits, but anyways everyone is welcomed and is also appreciated if you can send me feedback or state your own theories or disagree with me at all.

What I did to understand and review this episode was I first read what some of you previously posted after the RAW came out; I paid attention to your proposed theories, then I watched the RAW myself and paid close attention to the memory flashback and started doing possible connections and accuracies.

Now I have already watched the sub for this episode and some of my proposed theories are cemented while others proven false or inaccurate, that's good. Feedback to understanding the full story.

Basically, what everyone must now know at this turning point.

Spoiler:

The EMILY were dissected and their brains used to design and create the MIMIC.

Each brain were stored inside a respective MIMIC.

The purpose of the Union was to harness the EMILY's brain power to allow instant message communication technology that will surpass the lightspeed barrier.

Afterwards, the scientist pondered and longed for the implications in the Aliens sharing the same consciousness will offer to humankind's technology. Therefore, they started to design technologies based on the Aliens' brains to develop ships that can travel faster than the speed of light.

I presume both Union and Deague harnessed the Alien brains to the level that made possible sub-lightspeed travel and likely lightspeed travel, as seen in the story.

However, they were running out of samples so I GUESS they started to incorporate human brains in the MIMIC as well.

Before the Union discovered the EMILY, humanity was already split into Union and Deague and war kept going on and on.

Either because feared that the Deague would find out about the Alien or to further their scientific research, the remaining EMILY samples were shipped to Grabella, until Ralph's EMILY became the only surviving, non-dissected, and one piece EMILY remaining at Grabella.

Now when the memory story introduces Ralph's timeline before betraying the Union, that's when I feel or witness the timeline dives into a plot hole.

Spoiler:

1. The Alien ship was discovered, and the EMILY were dissected to find out about their instant communication capabilities. Soon after the MIMIC were borned.
This chain of events happened about six hundred years ago in the future year 6361.

2. Strain were not developed until 150 years prior to the start of the main story. Their original application maybe was for instant lightspeed travel, but they were quickly reassigned to military application as weaponry to fight the Deague once another intergalactic war broke out.

3. The time from when Ralph departed from Sara's side (in episode one), until as far as the TV show has run (in episode 10), likely the dates goes from the late 6990's to late 7000's to the 7010's.

4. The last year makes sense, since when Ralph's attacking the Alien fighters the screen inside his Strain reads two dates: the first one 13/11/7005, the date he departed before engaging sub-lightspeed travel; the second date reads the time passing by each second he travels sub-lightspeed and reads 7476, 7477....

EMILY points out that her contact with Ralph happened in the future.

Given the current timeline that which Sara is living in, how come Ralph made back into the past?

(My crazy hypothesis, and it's fine with me everyone else disagrees with it)
5. The EMILY transported Ralph back to the past. Some of you concluded that she and Ralph somewhat made a merging once she started to shine, but that's not it.

My take is that Emily opened up the warp star gate in her body. This gate I GUESS reverses the flow of lightspeed travel, therefore, Ralph did not disappeared he just simply was phased out from that future timeline and returned to the specified date in the past but when he had already left in sub-lightspeed travel and after he departed from little Sara.

However, there comes into play ill effects when the warp star gate is activated and is most likely that gives off a type of radiation, which could explain Ralph's sick and deteriorating condition, as well as other of his physical changes like his gray hair.
As well as I have previously posted, by making contact and linking with that Emily, Ralph gained her memories and learned what the Union did to the other EMILY as well.

6. Though this hypothesis is way off my head it still does not answers the other inconsistency that left me troubled.

If I learned right, doll EMILY has been waiting for Sara for over six hundred years.

How come doll EMILY would have left the message specifically to Sara exactly six hundred years ago?

Yes, Sara has engaged in sub-lightspeed travel, but as far as the story has shown she has had never the same experience as her brother did.

This is becoming like a crazy grandpa paradox or time loop paradox, don't you think?

Q. Makes sense that the MIMIC in doll EMILY comes from the first batch of MIMIC that were made six hundred years in the past?

I'm still not clear on the scope of the events that were shown in this episode. My understanding so far:

The union captured one ship full of aliens by chance and used them as test subjects. A second ship was sent from the alien homeworld to pursue and retrieve the ones that were taken, but had the misfortune to bump into Ralph and subsequently got wtfpwned. So there are 2 Emilys left from the captured alien ship, one whole and one partially disected. Ralph's goal is now to collect both Emilys and send them back to their homeworld?

...And he doesnt care how many ships full of humans that he destroys in order to collect the 2 aliens and send them home.

What a mind bender.

From what i can comprehend, the emily's are a human like race that have one conciousness. Thus they have instant communication even if parted far distances.

Humans found an alien ship, attacked it, and found the emily's inside. Later they reasearch/disected them in order to futher thier own technology. Ralph somehow see's them and calls them clones...(guess he was on the reasearch ship).

During the reasearch they couldnt anesthitize them effectivly therfor each and every emily felt the pain when their other was disected... the humans said the others would get used to it after awhile...(fact that really pissed me off).

From what i saw, the military and a scientific organization were involved, and are the ones who made the decisions. They were after instant communication and instant teleportation.

From what i can collect the emily's from the alien planet tried to fight the humans in order to regain/rescue/take back thier other selfs? (emily's that were taken). But they failed as ralf destroied every one of the alien strains with emily's inside them. I guess that was ralphs mission, to reclaim, or prevent the alien strains with emily's inside from rescuing their other selfs?

Ralf becomes mentally unstable due to the fact that he realizes what he, his troops, and humanity did to the aliens known as emily. He also realizes that he killed what looks like children/and what i guess seem similar to his sister. He is sad and in his sadness asks what he can do to change things.

The emily ralf is holding then tells him to open the warp star gate that is her/its body, and to save some child. Then what seems to be a black hole appears and sucks him and the emily into it. Im guessing that black hole teleported ralf back to the past in order to save the first emily found and taken by human kind?

So im guessing that ralph from the future brought back to the past with an emily's help came to stop the whole emily reasearch from happening by stealing the first emily? And i guess he sided with the deugue in order to gain military/finacial support so he could fight against the other side who had the emily in that capsule at the reasearch facility were his sister was at.

This could explain it all, as we saw in a previous ep that ralph stole an emily from some reasearch facility. The only thing i cant think of an explanation for is the doll emily. They say she is 600 years old yet how can that be in the current time? Is the emily with ralph really the first one? Did they clone her? sigh... i guess will find out sooner or later.

And do you all remeber the talk between the lil scientist boy and the captain? He agrees to the investigation of the emily doll, but what is intresting is what he says at the end of the conversation... "I cannont convince him otherwise, that person..."

Whos is he talking about? Ralph? The lil scientist boy? I can understand if its the lil scientist. But they way he said it seemed like he was talking about someone else.
