Story Time:
Fourteen Points of Light (Preliminaries 1-6) The final push through the Colonies has been finished. Fourteen worlds have been claimed. But by who and how? Ah, excellent, you are curious. The Sixth Fleet was dominated by Horo Enterprises. Their claim via the spice made sure they would gain a favorable position on the galactic trade routes, because everyone needs the spice. The primary challenge to Horo Enterprises were the Diet Warriors of Minori, the Red Dragons. While they had failed to defeat Horo Enterprises early on, they had managed to defeat everyone else, and were waiting for Horo Enterprises to make event he tiniest mistake to allow the Diet Warriors to claim the world for the Joint Council of Stars. Horo Enterprises made no mistakes. However the banner of the God Empress Haruhi was unfurled for the first time during the voyage as Tsuruya of Megas-Nyoro gained control of her own element. While the God Empress may be disapointed, Tsuruya laughs it off quite easily, knowing that she is beyond the God Empress' wrath. Seventh Fleet would see a sort of retribution for the fall of the Negima/Shaft Empire in years past to the KyoAni Empire. Nadeko would snake her way around two KyoAni forces to gain leadership of the colony, avoiding the Starfish Warriors of Fuuko and the K-Onsonance Support Chief Ui. The Time-Space Administration Bureau would gain its own victory with the Dark Mistress Commander Hayate gaining her own command again, with DEEN Directorate's own Demon Ai would gain control of her own element as well. Eight Fleet was an assured KyoAni Imperial victory and thus the Loli Warriors fo Mei would settle the world without incident. The other commanders would go to the Angel Nymph and the Minister of Provisions and Distribution Ayumu of the HnG Combine. Ninth Fleet became a race against time for colonial control. While th White Devil resorted to an attempt to "befriend" her opponents, the Witch-Regent C.C. and the Legendary Girl "A" would attempt to "geass" each other, would proved unsuccessful as C.C. was immune to the "geass" and Legendary Girl "A" had already been "geassed" before. In the end it was the Legendary Girl "A" would would us a blinding burst of speed to end the race in her favor. The other elements struggled to keep up with the lead element while maintaining there mapping missions. Kaede of Nyan, allies of the Angels would take her element in at the slowest speed, but still ahead of the Witch Maria and the snail paced Mayoi. The other element was brought in by Mikan of the Golden Nebula. Tenth Fleet was brought in by the Director of the Ministry of Peace, Minatsu, for the DEEN Directorate's Discretionary Council. Isumi of Eight Leaves Corp would bring her own element in without incident, even over the head of the FIrst One Sakura. The third element would show that the Negima Empire still hold some power over its former realms with the victory of the Dark Evangel. Eleventh Fleet became the challenge of the Great War's past champions From the wars before the Great Moe Wars. Rika-chama verses Suiseiseki of the Rozen Federation over the Spice Utau. "Suiseiseki will win this (desu~), Suiseiseki shall defat all chibi-humans to regain her power (desu~) and all will love Suiseiseki and despair (desu~)" Rika-chama wasn't impressed and forced Suiseiseki to play Rika's version of the Alice Game. Rika lost, restarted, lost again, restarted then won...all without Suiseiseki catching on. So was the power of Rika-chama. The Joint Council of Stars would control the remaining two elements with Techno-Magi Commander Index and Sakuya of Kansai Corp. of the HnG Combine. Twelfth Fleet was already dominated by the Shining Blue Dragons of Ami and thus they would take the colony first. The remaining two elements would go to DEEN Directorate's Discretionary Council Judge Chizuru and the HnG Combine's Izumi. Thirteenth Fleet would have the newcomer, Techno-Magi Lt. Saten defeat veteran Shinku of the Rozen Federation for leadership of the colony. The other elements were won by Yuuko of EF and the Stormtroopers of Nayuki. Fourteenth Fleet went overwhelmingly to Techno-Magi Commander Mikasa over the DEEN Directorate's Loli-clones of Illya and the Witch Ange. Chiaki-hime would defeat the oldest of the old...THE REI, in direct conflict. Meanwhile Kugimiya Padawan Yuuhi would defeat the Sickly Survivors of Shiori for elemental control. With the first fourteen starts colonies, the first order of business is to set of the colonies and also to set up long range telescopes and other detection systems pointing into the Outer Rim. The Act of Colonization was to settle 34 worlds...only 14 have been settled. The restless will want to move on soon. But before that, the issue of reconnecting the new colonies to the core worlds will happen, and old rivalries will ignite. The issue of shots being fired is a few of the colonial groups will be addressed by the major powers in the Core Worlds...and a new order will start to take shape before the colony ships are loaded again to seek their destiny in the Outer Rim....

I see Saki as the new Touhou actually. Seitokai at least has a following and no adverse negative campaigning like Touhou did after their nomination wins (the whole "this isn't an official anime" business). Saki just doesn't appear to have the backing to pull in numbers like they did in Saimoe last year. So maybe not Touhou, but more like Bamboo Blade.
I'm impressed with seeding results to far...also confirms Saki is weak compared to everything else.

Story Time again:
Interludes in Galactic Politics (Seeding 1-1) With the first 14 world colonying the respective leaders of all known worlds were assembled for a conference to help resolve some of the conflicts that occured during the Colonization efforts. From the 14 Colonies, the leader of of the colony would send their own representative while the colonists from the other eight ships would continue work on the colonies themselves. For purposes they were divided into five committees. Committee A was lead by President Hinagiku and had two representatives from each of the three larger powers, the DEEN Directorate, the KyoAni Empire, and the Joint Council of Stars. Newly elected President Kurimu of the DEEN would attempt to bring up their cause about the shifts of power that the colonies will bring and the rotatation of worlds as needed, though KyoAni's Legendary Girl "A" would attempt to keep the prospects of trade open with the Colonies and the Core Worlds. The Moe Marines of Mikuru would provide security under the aspect of the God Empress. The Red Mage Rin and Techno-Commander Mikasa would escort their respective presidents. Committee B would be a debate between the two main neo-religious groups, the Kugimiya Knights and the Haruhiists. Grand Master Shana would run the debate with God Empress Haruhi leading the counter-point of the debate. Shana would have Techno-Magi Lt. Saten as her representtive from the Colonies while God Empress Haruhi would have her newest follower Yui of Untan present. Representing the DEEN Directorate would be the Director of Truth Mafuyu while independent trade was represented by Horo Enterprises. Committee C was lead by Clannad Republic President Tomoyo and would discuss borders and defense in the renewed galaxy. Supporting the President with strategic data was the Legandary Hiiragi, Champion of the Zero Eight War. Keeping the Kugimiya position was Master Nagi of the HnG Combine and tactical advice from the Shinning Blue Dragons of Ami. Shaft Treaty member Nadeko would provide one independant viewpoint while "The Eye" Mihoko of the League of Extraodinary Gamers would provide another opinion. Committee D focused on Weapons of Moe Destruction of the galaxy and become reluctantly headed by Wing Commander Mio of the K-Onsonance, supported by the KyoAni Intelligence branch, St. Nagato-chi and guarded by the Loli-Warriors of Mei. Kugimiya Master Taiga, Champion of the Endless Nine War, would represent Alliance interests. Representing the DEEN Directorate would be the Miko's of Rika-chama, with the League of Extraordinary Gamers sent "The Chest" Nodoka. Committee E would discuss the topic of honorable combat lead by Saber, Sovereign of the Kingdom of Night escorted by DEEN's Director of Peace, Minatsu. Representing the KyoAni Empire would be K-Onaonance's Azu-nyan, Key Advisor Kyou and her student, the Sacred Ushio. For the Alliance, Lightning Ccommander Fate would hold her own without aid. The results of these talks was inconclusive, but with another round of talks schedualed there is still hope. However these talks have started to suggest a few major shifts in the order of things. The realization that Mio "the Shy" might be a Weapon of Moe Deestruction as powerful as the greatest of the Kugimiya Knights has given both the Alliance and the DEEN something to think about. The Alliance to worry about the Mio being used against them in a future war, and the DEEN to think about a way to make one of their own to counter both the KyoAni Empire and the Kugimiya Knights. The next set of talks us suppose to be a more informal affair. Perhaps a friendly game even in an effort to reduce tentions.

Eh seeding is too depressing. It just reminds me of how many characters are in from shows I haven't watched and how badly Saki's doing.
So to take my mind off of it I'm going to make predictions and likely votes for preliminary period phase 2. Spoiler for Preliminary period phase 2 A-G:
Spoiler for Preliminary period phase 2 H-N:

Only way to turn that around is to get more people that think like you to vote in this, rather than turn your back to it. You won't (probably) be able to turn those that like the character you hate away from them, so best to find like minded people and attempt to out number them instead.

Interesting that a Korean post is the first one I saw which figured out how the groups were created for Phase II. Did I miss one earlier than this?

Group A - Always a Hingaiku win. After watching a Railgun ep tonight, I see why Mikoto is popular and her getting over 2k votes sounds about right. I might actually vote for her sometimes. Rin and Mikuru finishing low suprises me, considering they were top 16 last year and have new material from a month ago.
Group B - Shana of course. If she doesn't win 2010, could only see Mio, Tomoyo or Kyou getting the better of her. Haruhi 2nd is okay, Yui 4th suprises me, Horo 5th hurts. Group C - Weak group. I only cared about Tomoyo. She won. End of story. Group D - Stacked group. Mio winning only goes to show how strong she will be. Taiga and Yuki look set for top 16 as well. Group E - VERY stacked group. I was hoping Saber would win. I didn't think she would. This made me smile. Azusa 2nd and Fate 4th were the surprises for me. Could see 1st-4th in this group all being in the 16. Overall I like the results. Saki got pulverised, Ichizon collapsed, Bake faltered. As suspected, K-ON and Railgun offer threats to the 16.

I admit Hinagiku didn't win every match in 09, but she did win the most important matches.
It's too early to tell, but based on the seeding results, Mikoto (Railgun) in a worse case scenario will win more matches than lose. I'm looking to see if she gets the lucky hand and manages to break the Top 16 (Personal preference noted). Mio on the other hand didn't prove she could be a challenge, she proved she is a challenge to the top 16. I wouldn't put too much into seeding matches. Seitokai no Ichizon wasn't facing 1 challenger, they were facing multiple challengers at the same time, but it does give them time to regroup for when the regular season begins. (or does this mean they won't recover from one bad match?) |

Seeding does give 'some' indication to preferences. Picking one from a bunch is a reasonable indicator but not a reliable one. The disparity in groupings could definitely lead to false positives. But it did reveal some trends.

even then u must remember Mafuyu managed to do better than a lot of other older favourites like Yui, Konata, Rin, Holo, Fate, etc so even though I doubt Minatsu and Kurimu will survive this...Mafuyu is set to be the one to carry Seitokai's name high

Can someone explain me how the results of the two days will affect their placement in the group (or anything else)? I'm not quite sure if I understand it right.
ARENA 01: [Misaka Mikoto] [Akiyama Mio] Okazaki Ushio Sakagami Tomoyo ARENA 02: Saten Ruiko [Sanzen'in Nagi] [Nakano Azusa] Nagato Yuki ARENA 03: Kawashima Ami [Shiina Mafuyu] Haramura Nodoka [Fujibayashi Kyō] ARENA 04: [Furude Rika] Sakurano Kurimu Fukuji Mihoko [Fate Testarossa] ARENA 05: Shiina Minatsu Izumi Konata Hirasawa Yui [Aisaka Taiga] ARENA 06: [Holo] [Saber] Asahina Mikuru Hiiragi Kagami ARENA 07: Sunohara Mei [Sengoku Nadeko] [Tōsaka Rin] Suzumiya Haruhi I saw Nagi and Azusa in the same group and was like HELL YEAH AUTOVOTE but then I saw Saten orz. The rest wasn't hard to decide. edit: Just looked over the prelim phase II groups. WTF Mayoi vs Hitagi. And also wasn't it possible to change Ritsu with another weaker character? I have a feeling that Alice might have won that group without Ritsu. |
