I think Jake's power is over soundwaves. That explains both the barriers, and how he can dodge. He can hear everything indeed.

I think Jake's power is SOUND.
He has super hearing
He has the ability to make sound into a field that he can shoot or sheild.

He can hear people's movements hence he can predict where something is going to land.
Tiger tripped and his movements were erratic, even he didn't know where they were going to go.

Jake makes a snapping sound for the 'laser' to aim where he is shooting his field.

Or does it mean Jake is BLIND?

Episode 11:
When Jake was being released from his life sentence, he didn't make any sounds from his fingers, his eyes merely started to glow as he walked pass the cellmate and then that sent the cellmate backwards. That first lead me to believe that Jake had powers based on eye contact. Then there was episode 12.

Episode 12:
After watching him snapping his fingers to create his barriers which can also be used as lasers, that alone could tell that defiantly has the power of sound. Also when Wild Tiger whispered "Hiding behind your shields" Jake actually heard it with quite a distance between the two. He also did say "Kotetsu" while blasting away at him so he can hear quite a long distance (would be weird for Kotetsu to say his own name while fighting) so it's quite a lengthy distance for someone that knows his true identity to say it. The unexpected tripping of Wild Tiger made me think that he was using his high-detailed sound-reading powers to read the minds of his opponents and he never once read in Wild Tiger's brain about "I'm going to trip and back-kick him in surprise." so that was making it possible for him to land a blow at him.

I still believe he has more tricks up his sleeves, if he could read minds then he would know that Sky High would be using his ultimate "Spirit Bomb" on him but never expected it to be that powerful after all. But we saw the bull man go at him with full brute force, if his barrier couldn't get through Sky High's ultimate bomb without him actually feeling it, then could he be able to utilize his power based on how strong his opponent's power is? There has to be a reason why his barrier keeps getting stronger based on who he faced.

Edit: Was he glowing the entire time he was fighting Wild Tiger?

Yes, but this means that something's effective against Jake. Question is, why can't they use THAT to fight Jake. In any case, the prison service surely knows something about Jake's powers and containing how to contain it.

Well, I'm probably nitpicking. The plot is still relatively cogent for its genre, certainly more than Iron Man

The prison device could just simply be too bulky to move, and don't forget, they can't quite use extreme measures against Jake due to him holding the city hostage.

To be honest, I'm not sure how Jake seems to be winning. It's entirely possible though that there's a relatively painless way to win against him...

On the other hand I don't see Jake (& Ouroboros) getting knocked out half way through the series. If Jake does manage to get beaten he'll probably manage to make an escape.

On the other hand, Jake is probably not THAT high level, there must be some deeper element to ouroboros.

What if there are simply "sets" of powers? Say for example, that Ouroboros sort of "manufactures" a specific gene that activates in certain individuals -- however, when it happens it's at a totally random time.

Now, say that these sets are specific and Ouroboros has experience with them all. What if Jake was simply trained on how to fight against all those sets? It sounds pretty far off though.. ugh, this anime is driving me nuts D:

After the announcement of the first Tiger & Bunny SH FiguArts, Bandai recently shows the first image of SH FiguArts Barnaby “Bunny” Brooks Jr, the other half of the Tiger & Bunny duo.

SH FiguArts Barnaby “Bunny” Brooks Jr is sporting a red hero suit with Bandai and Crusade decals imprinted on his chest and left arm guard respectively. Although unconfirmed, it will surely comes with the “Good Luck Mode” for its right leg.

As a “NEXT”, Barnaby Brooks Jr possesses the power to increase his physical abilities hundredfold for 5 minutes, and can only do so again after a one hour cooldown.

Since I'm on a huge card gaming binge right now I think I should take the time to mention that Tiger & Bunny is going to be the next edition to the Sunrise Crusade line of the Crusade TCG series. I'll post some cards when I get done. Curious to see how they rank the cards power wise, but I think it'll be a safe bet that Sky High is the strongest after Jake.

Nice. So he had two somewhat unrelated powers: Shields and mind reading. Pretty nice combo. Reminds me of the use of mantra in Sky Island arc of One Piece.

The parallel's to Joker screamed out to me in this ep. They basically gave Jake Joker's death from 80's Batman movie
