I thought that this week I could watch the first half without being sidelined by a couple of daily chores that routinely come up at this hour of the day, but once again...reality keeps disappointing me.

Spoiler for second half:

- According to OS-tan, Marie was a test pilot (hence the resurrection thingy) before her memory loss - and OS-tan's friend
- Raizou and Kyuuma are in trouble, while the Valvrave maintenance crew is being held at gunpoint by Dorssian infantrymen
- VVV unit 01 activates thanks to Marie, who uses it to destroy the Dorssian Ideals and Waffen
- Cue in Marie's image (a representation of herself as a student) shattering
- Looks like Marie is quite adept at piloting, as she takes down Dorssian troops with relative ease
- L-Elf guns down the Dorssians guarding the shuttle crew
- Meanwhile, Akira hacks into the Dorssian flying carrier and shuts it down, allowing L-Elf to wipe out the command post and commandeer the said vessel
- VVV unit 01 races towards level 666, while Marie seems to increasingly become subdued within 01
- Time to perform the Raizer sword Harakiri slash move
- Marie's eyes turn dead and she slumps in her seat, no longer responding to Haruto's video calls
- Cue in OS-Tan, "Marie...sayonara."

About Marie:
- Test pilot of the prototype of VVV, so she actually was the first pilot among the students
- Lost her memories because they were "eaten" by Pino (Rune)
- A much better pilot than Haruto of controlling VVVI
- Lost all her memories and even her life for the very battle to protect everyone

About Rune:
- Not only DNA, emotions, feelings could be rune, but also memories
- The more powerful VVV is, the more memories and strength will be taken out of the pilot

Spoiler for Episode 16:

After watching the episode, I can say that Marie become the second Valvrave favorite of mine. She's such an adorable girl yet a bit careless like myself, is dreamy and can never let someone knowing her own side and Shoko become her first human friend she encountered. I was shocked to see her being the test pilot of Valvrave I, which caused her to become an amnesiac like she is now. Too bad she become unconscious after she pilots Valvrave and then get overpowered, in which one has to know what happens after that. For other details, it's nice to see A-drei telling his flashback to the bodyjacking Saki and we get a bit of Liselotte screentime too. The series have been getting really awesome yet flawed, it's less crazy in terms of plot twists yet remains solid overall. I really want to know what will happen to Haruto for next episode!

You know when Saki took over Haruto's body back in ep6 or something, the next morning she returned back to her own body. So would that happen this time as well?

Would she return to her body the next day instead of staying in that child's? Did L-Elf leave her body behind?

While I understand Marie served as a purpose for mass info dump that will happen next episode, it is still sad she was used just for that. Making her the best pilot of valvrave doesn't make it fulfilling either.

I want to see what happens to Saki in the next episode and how the crew will deal with another blow. Also, why is it only girls being offed?

Marie is an awesome Valvrave pilot.

Did Unit-1 change in the last moments before Marie died?

I was actually sad and almost teary when Marie died even though she hasn't had many appearances. I felt so bad for her, she was a test pilot, her memories were wiped and she dies. Shoko lost someone dear to her again =(

A-drei is actually a pretty nice guy.

You know, I'm not so sure

Spoiler for Marie's status:

that Marie is dead dead. The Marie we know seems to be but her body? I'm not sure if her eyes turning the way they did means she's physically dead, just that she's pretty much a vegetable at this point. While I'm not sure she can ever be the same character, I'm also not sure they can't possibly get her back up in running in some form. I'm curious if body jacking her might help get her working again. It is not in L Elf's best interest to just leave her behind in this condition. If nothing else he could try and bargain with Pino about helping her get better to get Pino to keep talking.

As for Saki returning to her body - I thought they have to re-bite themselves to do that? L Elf obviously left the bodies of Saki and Akira some place with plans to retrieve them and I think they'll do that next episode (probably off camera). However, until they can get K Wolf (? was that his name?) body back so Saki can bite it and jump back they've got a problem.

Did anyone else notice the symbol on Liselotte chamber? I'm starting to go back to the theory that she's a Magius but she might even be a really old one at that. I am curious what the chamber is for.

So the more runes the VVV-01 pilot used the stronger output the Valvrave-01 can Bring out. I can see Haruto die the same way Marie did, complete deprivation of runes, also since Haruto still has a lot of runes stored(AKA his memory before and after becoming a VVV-01 pilot and since Marie nearly used up her runes from the very beginning as a test pilot and only has 3 years worth of runes) I can see him bring out even more power of Valvrave(if 3 years worth of runes can bring out that much power what if it 10 years +?) in exchange for loss of memory to even death. Also they forgotten my Saki......

Pino mentioned Marie had a broken limiter - that's important IMO! It's possible this situation won't happen, or will be less likely to happen, with the current set of pilots.

I got the feeling that the prince in the flashback knew Marie - now I'm really starting to think she's not dead, body wise, just as who she was before. Also, you can shoot her in the head and not kill her but losing all her memories makes her body die? I won't rule it out as a possibility but I don't think I can rule it in as a certainty either.

Oh dear, I just had a stray thought about Liselotte and Pino and that chamber and why Liselotte might know the Valvrave's landed (other than she saw it). I'm going to mull on that one

Liselotte is indeed a mystery. I wonder if she does have some sort of connection to Pino or the valvraves? Who every made Marie a test pilot might have tried the same with Liselotte and she too needs runes nurishment.

Who else could be her friends? A-Drei? Would he inform her?

This episode actually got to like A-Drei a bit. Take away him going nuts whenever he see L-Elf and he's not that bad.

I had a feeling things would go wrong and Saki would be put into a tight spot

she's literally trapped behind enemy lines and her team mates just flew away

Wow, I'm surprised I ended up so moved by Marie's plight considering how minor a character she was. I knew that magazine blurb about her "going the extra mile for Shoko" would wind up with her piloting in some fashion but the whole affair played out quite tragically. Props to the director and writers.

And it's official, A-Drei and Saki are both more interesting when they're away from their objects of obsession.

Incidentally, how many lines from the first season 2 PV are left? The "L-Elf" scream and A-Drei's line about fate were in this episode.

lol if you think about it, this is Haruto's fault. What kind of soldier ignores military commands in order to continue his conversation with a cute girl?

This isn't 4chan so let's not carry the blame game over into other threads. Besides Marie made her own choice; can't she have that at least. Haruto probably will blame himself though.

Actually it a good thing that conversation halted Haruto, because if it him piloting no way he will be able to fight off that many enemies compared to Marie who used up her own runes and completely annihilated the Dorssian's army.
