Tokyo Mew Mew licensed

Quote:
According to an article in Animation World Magazine, 4Kids Entertainment has licenced the popular girls' anime, Tokyo Mew Mew. Set to debut on the FoxBox block within the year, the show will be localized and renamed Hollywood Mew Mew.

$kids strikes again. Could Naruto or One Piece be next. Only time will tell.

I merged the thread in the fansubs forum with this one since they both cover the same topic.

Not really sure how that says it all. The ! and ? make it look as though you're unsure. Also making us feel unsure.

Are you making a statement or asking a question?

Localized...... Hollywood Mew Mew.......

From 4kids' track records, we will probably never see an unedited version of TMM on R1 DVD. *sigh*

the imported and localized shows (Hollywood Mew Mew was originally Tokyo Mew Mew) are intended to attract both genders by empowering girls while giving boys cute babes and plenty of action to look at.
That line scares me the most.

Just to lighten things up a bit.

I believe anime products that are much more aggressive and sensual are going to become more available in the appropriate timeslots.
So they're gonna start airing Hentai on tv?

It's not the licenseing that pisses me off. It's the Licensor. I don't care if it gets hacked to bits on tv. I just want my uncut dvds. 4kids doesn't release uncut dvds. *that* is what pisses me off.

That link says it all. Perhaps too much, in fact. "Tokyo Mew Mew" is now "Hollywood Mew Mew".

There's a holy ranting about this on the Animeondvd.com forums about this, and they are none too happy.

Once again, you STILL haven't learnt how to actually type proper sentences. Now if you would stop sniffing your anti-4kids permenant marker for two fucking seconds, perhaps you could see that-

1. Your rambling will not get listened to

2a. Mew Mew and Shaman King have actually HAD fanbases before their release. 2b.They've also had accurate English Manga translations before they were licensed.

Take a breath, and realise there is a potential for a subbed release. Just wait for them to do what they do. Infact, write a letter to them now, a polite, nicely written letter, explaining how you would like an uncut, DVD version of the show. DON'T mention shows they might want to get (naruto), DONT mention shows they have (Yu Gi Oh), and DONT mention shows they haven't released on DVD yet (Shaman King). be calm, be nice, be happy. Yikes.

PS ONLINE PETITIONS DONT WORK

PPS THE DBZOA DONT WORK

My actual reaction is far too strong. I wasn't exactly Tokyo Mew Mew's biggest fan, but it didn't deserve such a wretched fate. And the worst part is, once this dub bombs, they'll just assume it's because it's a "girls" show instead of because THE DUB SUCKS.

My "favorite" quote:

"By the time we localize the programs kids don’t even know they’re from Japan any more."

Mahou Shoujo gets it rough over here. All the big titles get ripped up and bomb, or they release the uncut versions with little fanfare and THOSE bomb. And then they keep talking about how a girls show is unprofitable and only boys like anime and it gets me steamed like nothing else
All right, maybe we should start getting some heavy duty Anime God prayers going before someone does this to Naruto or One Piece. Come on, kids deserve good anime too!
