am I the only one who doesn't like the art style of this new series? Looks very cartoonish, kid-like. Idk how to describe it but it doesn't feel like Gundam. I'll will watch it but that's something I know is going to bother me throughout the series. Comparing it to 00, the art style feels bland, dull, boring....idk

Discussed and long since beaten into the ground as a topic. Personally I'd argue that the scene in the trailer where Flitt is looking at the portrait of the gundam in awe is textbook gundam feel as is much of what happens in the trailer right down to the music. It really helps to look beyond the superficial in the character designs here. Tall order for some, but that's my advice.

Yeah this is very Gundam. The generation concept is where it'll really set itself apart.

And Flit's going to grow up eventually anyway... So chances are he'll look like Setsuna with turquoise hair within ten to twenty episodes, which makes it not much different than a typical Gundam show.

Why would a character designed by Takuzo Nagano look like a character designed by Yun Kouga? They simply share the same guy adapting the character designs for anime.

I would hope that Gundam Age doesn't try to copy the look of Gundam 00's characters as I love the fact that the designs don't look like a bunch of male models (something we haven't seen since Turn A Gundam).

It is indeed a tall order for some, but maybe he just needs something similar to happen to something he holds dear before he realizes this. Not a dig @ you, totally being serious.

This is a bit weird but aside from the lead characters, most of the other characters (like Genoace Custom's pilot aka Guy-ish Loran) look fine to me. Still have a problem with Fritz though but I'll manage.

Sign... We've gone through this before, but simply because this "same guy adapting the character designs" (Michinori Chiba) basically made enough changes to the original conceptual designs such that they are in his art style.

If you've actually played any of the game's Nagano's art is in, the only thing the characters in this show share with the characters he actually draws is the chibi-ness and camp. He's stuff is way more bizarre than what's done here.

And I even question whether the "adults", like the Wolf guy, are actually designed by Nagano and not just thought up by Chiba... They're completely devoid of any of his ridiculousness.

Maybe Flit is a copy of Mamoru Endo of Inazuma Eleven, perhaps?

And don't forget that Emily and Grudech is an Ersatz of Sayla and Jamil respectively.

I take it you're referring to the super robot bastardization we have been seeing in most of the mecha designs so far.
