fall: Something like that. The metric system never caught on over here.
Speaking of bullpup rifles, didn't the Aussies use one called the AUG? I remember seeing it the first Die Hard movie.
LMF: I'll take my BLT on toast, please!

It is an idiot built. Seriously, I wielded the SAR-21 and the M16 Carbine Mod, the carbine is easier to bring to bear, reload and quick aim; the SAR-21 requires one to adjust into a firing stance with all the focus directed down the scope - it is difficult to ascertain the surrounding while on high alert.
ya know... the SAR21 was like the AUG A1 and SA80. the AUG was quite easy but the SA80.... i took a while just to know where the mechanisms are (i'm not that deep of a gun otaku but the SA80 has that button found in the M16/M4 series above the place where you put the magazine).

i want to try messing around with FN Herstal's F2000. If it triple feeds, i be damned.

oh btw... i think that MOST of the world uses STANAG magazines, right? and the 5.56x45 is rampant too? (223 and 5.56 have a few differences but are similar) if so, we need to find AR's that use STANAG to make our lives easier and lighter

I knew a girl in high school who was a FANTASTIC RUNNER. She was a tiny little thing, probably didn't weight more than 90 lbs, but damn she was fast, and she could sustain it. She simply CRUSHED the 5 km run. It was damn amazing, gender nonwithstanding.

On the weight issue, Body-fat index is more of a clue to your overall health than fat alone. But even that is only one factor among many.

god i love those melee moves in RE:5 the good ol "FALCON PUNCH"

@LC do you hate mountain dew?? if soo its ok if not its a ok also since i just said i prefer mountain dew over the other sodas

also i think when we are in a city its better to scavange for stuff we need and some extra then head outofthe city to lessen any chances of us getting bitten off one by one

also because i know how to plant heck i can also grow veggies if you want though hunting is what i will leave up to those sharp shooters of ours

when it comes to running, i also know of a certain girl who outran our fastest runner in high school. man you all are lucky to train easy... i on the other hand:

push ups with certain weights on my back. at times even my cousin (girl) will sit on while i was forced to do it

running around with heavy weights. two medium sand weights on my forearm and two on my calves.

the dreaded squat thrust (I GODDAMN HATE THAT EXERCISE!!!!!!!!!!)

gramps from my old man's side says to build strength.

since he's gone, i've been slacking off.

@Technomo12: I prefer Ski to Mountain Dew, but won't quibble over one or another if Mountain Dew is all there is.
While the majority of us running a M-16, M-4, etc is fine by me, we still need some sharpshooters with 7.62mm rifles to provide cover for both our snipers and scavangers! So I'll be sticking to my FAL! Also submachine guns should be provided for our scavangers/CQB types.
Sorry to complicate your job ZeKeR.

My friend Travis will be assisting in the sniper role. He'll either be using my dad's Remington 7 series 30-.06, or the AR-10 in .308 that I'm building next. He got expert marks in the Marine Corps so I trust him to do what needs to be done.

no worries. its fine.
umm... for scavengers... you guys MIGHT want to have a crowbar as a melee item. its very useful in an urban environ and also makes a very good basher.
priority targets should be convenience stores, gun shops, hardware stores (impromptu demolitions experts and combat engineers, you will thank me for this) and untouched houses (don't go raiding those that still have people inside or go into one that you think has already been looted).

and this is for recon purposes:
sharpshooter and cartographer (well gimme a paper and a pen and i'm an impromptu cartographer atm)

if we are to know whats ahead and know potential kill zones (a destroyed vehicle roadblock will be the death of us if we are not careful) sharpshooter will be the eagle eye while cartographer will observe and draw the entire area field so we can plan our next move without the risk of mobility kill.
sharpshooter carries reduced load (about three or four rifle magazines) and cartographer will also carry same load (mobility)

and for scouts (i finally can be one as i refreshed my skills)... typical loadout will be:
communication device from you to the team (find a wireless radio PLEASE)
light load of two to three primary magazines
about two pistol mags
BINOCULARS
crowbar (you need to keep moving ALL THE TIME)
if you can, remember key points in your scouting so you can know where some safe points are.

ROG if we ever did meet up will be: FIRE WHEN THEY START TO NOTICE US AND GET CLOSER

and guys... if possible. it be best that we ALL use NATO standardized rounds (i believe is the 5.56x45 and 7.62x51).
.45ACP, .40S&W, 9mm, .38 special (WHUT?) and other pistol rounds can probably be found in some gun stores, so DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR EMPTY MAGAZINES/CLIPS

I think everybody who ventures out from the safe zones, needs two way radios with headsets. All vehicles should also have CB radios. Only to be used though when we leave our home bases.

You need to know immediately whether there are zombies in your area, or human survivors as well as relaying the information to others in the group.

Yeah! Half-Life 2 style.

But seriously, probably a good weapon if you're desperate, plus can pry open all sorts of craps, from doors to lockers, or even to use as a zipline between buildings.

Me, I might use a metal baseball bat instead, since I don't think I have a full-size crowbar laying about at home. Almost as good. I'll just be smashing through stuff instead of prying it open. ^_^

Crowbars would be good for breaking into things, but in terms of melee, I'd prefer a baseball bat.

Keep the FAL. It's what you have your heart set on, and that's all that matters.

Spoiler for Galil 7.62mm version:

she can also use this piece of Israeli weaponry which fires the 7.62 NATO. well the crowbar is optimal in urban environs. if you need an impromptu escape, then you can always pry the nearest door open when you are in an alley and GTFO real fast rather than waste strength by wading through all those bodies.

You guys are all planning way too far ahead atm imo All your scenarios atm are based on the world after humanity has been overrun, yet to get to that stage you'll have to survive the initial chaos when the outbreak is occuring. At that time I do believe the danger from panicking citizens/soldiers/nukes are going to outweigh the threat from the (still relatively) few undead. Maybe time to get back to basics and plan your shelters before your weapons?

I thought we already did that? In any event, staying in one place for too long is likely to get ones self infected, bitten, or just plain dead! Once the event has happened and you've hunkered down in your shelter for say 5 days your going to want to see what's going on outside, possibly restock your provisions, and asses your situation.
Then it might be a good time to "bug out"! So Seitsuki, let's hear your plans.

When I think about it TEOTWAWKI might be the prime reason I should go get a MA on Herbal and Complimentary medicine. When shit hits the fan and the pharmaceutical industry is (un)dead, herbal medicines will be the go to treat even the most basic of diseases.

I thought we already have green, blue and red herbs.

This one is spreading through the internet this week, got it from Geekologie:

So the possibly lethal objects I have on my left are a pair of metal rulers, combination pliers, scissors, a whole pencil case of pencils and a bunch of sharpeners. If my dinner was on my right, I would have been able to smash zombies with the plate and spoon their eyes out.

I can sharpen all my pencils with the sharperners and stab zombies with that, along with pens. Pliers and scissors can also be my stabbing weapons, if I sharpen the 15 cm and 30 cm metal rulers, they can be some sort of knife for a while.
