Sasami-san@Ganbaranai 11 - The World's Greatest Threesome
Let's wash each other's backs and see who'll end up eating who! I knew from the moment that line was spoken, this episode was going to be good. The slightly odd pairing of a futanari, a robot and a goddess is something that can only happen in anime, but it's turning into an element of the show that I wish could be expanded on more. Though there's only one episode left to go, so the odds of that happening are unlikely at best. The use of legs and scenery and camera angles never made it clear if Jou was a futa for her bath scene, but it doesn't make a difference either way. Whatever she has between her legs, she and Sasami make the best couple. Sasami and Kagami are the second best. That scene with Kagami near the end... though she lives in the world of the gods, there was some real human emotion there. Wonderful stuff. I'll miss this show - and hope that the ED is properly sung for the finale. Last edited by Midonin; 2013-03-25 at 19:28. |

I think Edogawa Jou is based on Inari Ookami - androgynous goddess of fertility (flowers in ep 9) and foxes (Tamamo no Mae). Her worship spread across Japan in Edo period (edo period is known as tokugawa as well -> edo + (toku)gawa), she is often venerated as a collective of three deities know as Inari sanza (divine channel for Jou + Tamamo no Mae + Awashima aka "Babysitter") and also sometimes appears as dragon (talk about becoming host for Kuzuryuu, ryuu=dragon). As for a babysitter nick: "Awashima kami is based on beliefs about the kami's efficacy in curing female ailments, helping to conceive children, and ensuring safe childbirth".
Edit: Also Awashima is androgynous as well. |

This show has one of the most abrupt endings ever. But I guess that is normal, as this isn't meant to be some kind of climax, but just another ordinary day in Sasami's life.
Spoiler for ep 12:
Spoiler for analysis:
Also, is the story implying Kagami as at least part Kagu-tsuchi? As in, most of her robot powers are actually fuelled by the god of fire. This is possible because it is suppose to be dead, so its body might have been used to make Kagami WITH a part of Amaterasu. So Kagami is like a Frankenstein-monster of god parts. Kagu-tsuchi was mentioned in the school episode, but I didn't think much of it until now when it is mention AGAIN. Finally, the fox made it clear that she is, in fact, from China as far back as the Three Kingdoms, and as such most likely is THE demon fox. 妲己. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daji

As I kept saying, there isn't really an over-arching plot. Each episode is approximately one chapter, with only 3 chapters per book. So you can't expect a climatic ending when this is just the end of book 4 out of 10 so far.

Depends. There is actually a shortage of new novel series to animate. Those that are anygood anyway. So rights holders might pay for a sequel just because of a lack of other options.

What a last episode... well , not surprised looking at this anime.
It was a little entertaining at least among the few good anime this winter.. 2nd season ? not for me , Shaft should work on better story or ufo. |

Didn't expect Susanoo to show up in the last episode, and even less that he would look like a young punk. He's very powerful but he doesn't seem very threatening. Tsurugi was totally bossing him around.
It turns out Sasami was never really fooled by Jou, but still wanted to become her friend nonetheless, which she did at the end. That's a good enough conclusion for now. I enjoyed this anime a lot overall. It was far from perfect but I liked the characters and the use of mythology even if the author took a lot of liberties (but that's what makes it fun). Wouldn't mind a second season.

Wow, for someone who made it hard for Tsurugi during the Yomi arc, Susanoo seems to be bullied around by Tsurugi a bit too easily.
Although if Tsurugi was within the island's barrier (as shown near the beginning), why did Sasami needed the barrier down to contact her? Weird... Quote:
But at least Tsurugi --> Tsukuyomi has been established this season, so that ship is not all wishful thinking. So hopefully that means Mahouka Kouko no Rettousei will get an adaptation soon, as it's one of few good ones. XD

I didn't feel this last episode was abrupt at all, it was in line with the rest of the series. It is obvious this is not an ending since the source material keeps going, but it is a quite nice save point.
Was I the only one to get a laugh at the japanese sized chin chin? The only thing I think the anime did not addressed is how can tama be eaten throughly (in her own words) and be waling as normal a few hours later :/ Also, did Sasami's mother killed her assistant or just removed an arm or leg? This may not have been Shinbou's best, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit -- for the look and flow rather than the "plot," however. Shinbou simply has taste. And Asumi Kana was excellent, I thought. Great sound to her voice.
The spring season looks promising, but it is missing one big thing: a new Shinbou/Shaft show.
