http://otakomu.jp/archives/461850.html New Code Geass anime "Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch" announced. Whether TV anime or not is not known. Lelouch is the protagonist, not a different person with the same name but the Lelouch who was supposed to have died. It takes place some years after the Zero Requiem. A 3-part series of compilation films summarising the previous Code Geass anime is also planned. |

Ah! Sorry I forgot to put the link.
He said that in his tweet here: https://twitter.com/osamukoba/status/804283559548551169 There's an upcoming drinking party and animation talk event held in Asagaya Tokyo (December 30th), where Kobayashi will be the MC, and Mitsuo Iso, Masaaki Yuasa, Takashi Mukouda, Kiyotaka Oshiyama will attend as guest. And in his tweets, he introduced the guest one by one. He specifically mention that Mukouda is the character designer and chief animation director of his new work. |

Presumably Iso has been working uncredited for many years. Actually he has many ideas/projects in his hand, and still struggling to convince producer to fund it. https://twitter.com/Thomasintokyo/st...12700214800385 But this year he's confirmed to start working with Yapiko Animation on featured film called "Les Pirates de la Réunion". He's also helping Le Sean Thomas with his 1st featured movie "Children of Ether". I think recently Iso has been using digital animation and developing close relationship with younger generation , like Yojiro Arai and Studio Colorido (where he also presumably did uncredited Key Animation for Taifuu no Noruda). Then working on Dimension W episode 1 with Studio 3Hz, and Pokemon Generations with Signal MD (along with Kei Suezawa, Yoshinari Kou). Sakuga fans also expecting him to show up on Flip Flappers because Oshiyama is one of his junior and close friends since Dennou Coil. This is a nice compilation of his recent works, all of them uncredited. You could find he's talking about his experiences using digital software on twitter (he just joined twitter this year too). https://twitter.com/IsoMitsuo Oh, Catsuka also mentioned that Iso's helping Kamiyama on his movie "Hirune Hime". https://twitter.com/catsuka/status/722174336958914561 It seems he's working uncredited again, because Signal MD posted the list of key animators few days ago, and his name was none there. lineblog.me/signal_md/archives/13096716.html But I think he's there. Yapiko animation was there too, as well as Toshiyuki Inoue and Kei Suezawa. |

I found a piece of interesting information about a certain "Female Director in her 30s".
TOHO's Producer Kawamura Genki (Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki, Boy and the Beast, Kekkai Sensen, Kimi no Na Wa.) said in a certain interview that's he's currently working with "a certain Genius female Anime Director in her thirties". He's overwhelmed by her talent and said she's totally "uncontrollable" and "genius among geniuses". Kawamura-P even added "It's like finding young Hayao Miyazaki and Mamoru Hosoda". https://twitter.com/botacou/status/805983381771014145 It seems he's referring to Matsumoto Rie. If this is true, than it makes sense why Rie isn't working on Kekkai Sensen 2nd season (actually she rejected the idea because she felt she did everything she wanted in Season 1). Probably high profile movie, another big hit like Shinkai's "Kimi no Na Wa." ? |

It's certainly exciting to think of what genius young directors like Matsumoto and Tachikawa Yuzuru could do on the big-screen, with a big budget. Still, there's a part of me that's sad to think we may be losing her from TV. TV anime needs all the singular talents it can get, and once a director of Matsumoto's caliber goes to the big screen, they rarely (though not never) come back.
I don't think there's any question somebody like Watanabe could have had a pretty big movie career, but he's worked mostly in TV throughout his career. And I don't think anyone could argue that anime isn't vastly better off for it.
