Wow, this is what drama is about. I absolutely loved this episode.
If I ever met a real person like Mashiro with the beauty yet cluelessness, I'm not sure how I would really react around her. I would love someone who understands me, but at the same time, the other person giving out so much effort but not sure what to do is very endearing in its own way. The question is probably how this will become in the long run. If Mashiro can learn and adapt, this will make a spectacular relationship.

This was the best looking episode so far. But progression for the main leads wasn't the expected one from a Christmas episode. It was disappointing that Nanami did nothing after all that build up, she simply triggered her own Death Flag with that little speech. Sorata simply went back to be the same guy he was 2 episodes ago. And Mashiro was just a victim of Sorata's character regression.
I can relate to and understand Jin's feelings but I can't see why he can't talk things out properly with his significant other and avoid this extra suffering. Poor communication is a very tired way to extend the drama. Ryuunosuke/Rita keep being the most entertaining characters to watch with less than a minute of screentime. This talks plenty about how apathetic I feel for the rest of the show. It's far from a bad anime and I watch the episode as soon as I get it, but it's been 14 episodes and I have never been at the edge of my seat. My final impression for SakuPet 14 is that Toradora! keeps being the anime with the best Christmas episode.

It was great episode with a lot of drama.
The only comedy if only for a brief moment was hilarious, Rita trying to have nice conversation with Ryuunosuke over the computer on Christmas eve. But as expected there was no way Maido chan was going to let that happend! It's great that Sorata and Mashiro made up, I just wish Nanami didn't have to be hear what Sorata said to Mashiro. Even though it was unintentional, Mashiro did kind of end their(Sorata and Nanami) date. And just when I thought things were finally going Misaki's way this happends! Poor Misaki.

Mashiro so beautiful in that dress.
ah it's really suffering to be Aoyama, good thing she's cool. I do understand Jin though, but still I guess it would hurt on Misaki's side. somehow Sorata let me down again, he just feels so lacking, really pissing me off at the start there. , All through the episode I've been waiting for some kind of apology, and all we got was some vague dialogue. somewhat dodging the issue. everyone who watched with me had the same thought, everyone wanted that apology. oh well... other thoughts. - Misaki looked so cute, ( I know she was crying but heck >.<) when she was looking up at Jin, while he was holding her face. - Aoyama looked beautiful with the hairdown too. Sorata's reaction was same as mine^^ - Rita vs Meido-chan yeah ryounusuke looking flabergasted at the sideline. - OH yeah, direction wise i loved what they did starting from the middle( just before Aoyama & sorata met) where everyone was thinking about their own personal situations. then going back to pre christams preparations. well done.

Shiina seems like a cockblock this episode and it seems like she interrupts every chance Nanami has some free time with Sorata. Is it on purpose? I don't remember Nanami doing to same to Shiina even once. Guess you can't blame a girl with autism and a goal.

ugh... how can I love this episode even when my Aoyama was forced to see her beloved guy hugged another girl in front of her eyes...
rather than that... Misaki is cute when she's being honest... Aoyama is SUPER CUTE with that outfit... and Mashiro is also VERY PRETTY with dress... Ryuunosuke-Rita also got little airtime (enjoying Maid Vs Rita battle) while Sorata and Jin are totally dumb... although Sorata managed to make up for it in the end |

I really enjoyed this episode. Everything from Mashiro up to Rita(she's pretty hot with that Christmas greeting of her ). Man, it's really hard to be on Nanami's situation. It feels like Mashiro is always getting in her way to Sorata.
Also, did Misaki mess up her chance? It seems like Jin was about to propose(?) to her but it was halted.. At least, he already said to her that he loves her but I guess Misaki wanted more than that. |

I was confused as to why Jin was getting so much flak even though he had finally confessed... turns out I had missed the after credit scene. I always use the skip button to skip the ED, and it brought me directly to the preview this time. I'm glad I came into this thread or I wouldn't have realized it. Welp, I can only agree Jin's an idiot. That inferiority complex of his got in the way once again. Why can't he accept Misaki loves him the way he is now? They both love each other and it's all that matters. The rest will come naturally.
This episode was breathtaking. A lot of scenes looked gorgeous and the writing was excellent. I can hardly believe J.C Staff is behind this. I'm happy Sorata made up with Mashiro, and sad Nanami is falling behind... Her chances are decreasing as time goes on. Mashiro keeps scoring points with Sorata while she remains at the same spot in his heart. Soon enough she will have no hope of winning. She is trying, but not hard enough.

Great episode!
I liked Nanami's new look (hair down, Grade B Zettai Ryouiki), Mashiro sounds more normal than ever before and slowly loses her monotone voice, and Jin/Misaki finally got some closure, though not really ideal. (but hey, at least Jin told his old friend he's breaking up with his other women). But then again, poor Nanami is on the short end of the stick in this love triangle. Next episode, meet the Kanda family. More Yui, Papa-Roy-Mustang and Mama-Kuroko. |

Total agreement with all the praise for this episode. Memorable anime episode. Especially for a romance-aholic like myself. The only discordant note was Jin: I understand what they are doing with him, but it doesn't make sense to me.
Clearly Sorata loves Mashiro, but I think he is also attracted to Nanami. I can't help pondering a true harem -- with Mashiro as principal wife, lol. Not going to happen, I know. Misaki is a great character. So juicy and passionate and real, for all her ridiculousness. Takamori Natsumi (Misaki Mei in Another) is doing a nice job, with that almost-breaking voice. And Kayano Ai as Mashiro totally knocked my socks off -- again. Soft power. To add to what totoum said four posts ago, the writer of this episode was Hanada Jukki, one of the biggest names in anime writing; he was lead writer on Rozen Maiden, Steins;Gate, and Chuunibyou, among many other shows. The storyboard was by Sayama Kiyoko; she has been active since the early nineties, and did multiple storyboards for shows like Princess Tutu and Moribito, as well as directing Vampire Knight and Skip Beat. The director who put their work on screen was Ikeda Shigetaka, who directed multiple episodes of Kaiji, One Outs, Steins;Gate and Sword Art Online. Kind of an all-star team, really.
