Loved the chapter. Ako's thoughts were very amusing this whole match and the Sera vs Ako exchange is really good.

After reading the chapter again, i've come to like Hiroko quite a bit more than i previously did. Still not fond of Izumi at all though.

Well, she's pretty much set up for a Daisangan (having a set of all three of the red, white, and green "dragons", a Yakuman). As she's not the dealer, she's basically looking at 32,000 points.

Of course, she doesn't have the full Daisangan in her hand just yet; she's missing a green Hatsu. Assuming that she doesn't draw it herself and no one plays it for her to pon, then she would only be looking at a shousangan ("little three dragons"), worth four han. However, given the rest of her tiles she could also look at just going after a "full honours" (all honours tiles) or "suu anko" (four pons, all closed) hand instead, which are yet other yakuman.

No one knows really. There was a date given on one of the color pages (I think it was for chapter 13), but I don't think it was an airing date at all, rather connected to a special event instead.

I don't know why, but I feel this was one of the most mahjong heavy chapters in the series. There was still lots to talk about, though.

Spoiler for Chapter 14:

-Make up right before the match? Not helping with Ako's "reputation" there, Ritz. The hug scene was pretty cute, though.

-I liked the way Hiroko went about Izumi's situation: "Yeah, you suck hard, but that's how it works"

Indeed, it seems in the sakiverse first years are either monsters or royally screwed. There are probably exceptions, but that's what they are, exceptions to the rule.

Also, apparently being a third year gives a boost to your power level. Good to know.

-Convincing Ryuuka to leave Toki's side? Talk about going from the pan to the fire. It will be quite interesting to see how Ryuuka feels right now, though, I mean, she must know Toki will have to go through that ordeal again if they make it through, but on the other hand, not playing will make her sacrifice worthless. Quite the dilemma.

-I don't know if it's just a translation issue, but Hiroko's line about how Awai is the most troublesome first year (more Awai hype!), made it sound like Ryuuka can handle players below monster level. Will we see some fireworks in the last match besides the supernova?

-HOLY CRAP, someone finally started seeing a connection between Saki and Teru! You're awesome, Hiroko!

-Sera is going full power! While she wasn't as vocal about avenging Toki as Izumi was, her actions spoke loud and clear, taking Senriyama back to the coveted second place.

-It was quite interesting to see AKo's thinking process throughout the match, sutrggling with keeping the lead while trying to be careful not to give more energy to the harvest, it was much more detailed than Kyouko's ordeal, and more interesting.

-How the hell didn't Hiroko know about the harvest ability? I know Harue is a pro, and there was a lack of data, but something so unusual would probably be of interest.

-Talk about a cliffhanger! Someone is about to get hit HARD. The question is who. Will Sera's efforts be nullified in a single blow? Will Ako plunge into the depths of despair? Or will Shindouji be put in Kazekoshi's situation before the final match?

-And what the hell is up with sheep girl? The last girl did so much better. This is so not subara.

As for Izumi, let alone Awai or Saki, I doubt she can even beat Ako who is around the same level as Sera.

It looks like the new mahjong pro card came from the 4th volume of the Achiga-hen Blu-rays.

According to the information, Yoshiko Kainou is a graduate of Oojouin Girls' High School in Ehime Prefecture, despite having been born in Nagano Prefecture. It's the same Oojouin that is the 18th draw in the Inter High bracket. Her school lost the 2B first round match to Koshigaya, who eventually lost to Senriyama and Achiga.

Hate to remind you of this, but this is all prior to Saki, Nodoka, and Yuuki's trip to watch the Achiga-Shiraitodai match. And as far as we've shown, Nodoka and Saki were getting along quite fine.
