Thank you very much. So was the frame-up of Jeremy caused by the 2nd Empress or was it done by the Prince, allowing the Empress to take advantage of it to harass Shuli?

Yes, the trial arc is finally over. It was amazing that Shuli's determination even won over the Empress and even had the empress to acknowledged Shuli is the perfect head for Jeremy's family.

It is great to see an Empress isn't a raging maniac who wants MC to die just because.

Wow. What a dark and depressing chapter.

They changed certain things in the manhwa. In novel, it was the knight lead the assassination under the god's name but in manhwa, he didn't take part in the assassination but instead he felt remorse for not able to protect her in the end.

Translations aren't the greatest, but the death of Shuli is explained in full, making it clear the reasoning behind it was a lot bigger than expected.

I personally think the changes from the novel spoilers I read do the series a lot more justice because it expands the depth.

A Stepmother's Marchen updated again. I honestly don't know why he thought that the guy would be saved if he asked. He condemned his friend to death and knew deep down that he would be another sacrificial pawn. Then there's Jeremy struggling to cope.

The heart aches but its a good pain for me at least. She was loved. Shame they only realized what they lost at the very end.

Yeah, she was loved but she never knew about that. I guess this is a good lesson that one should take initiative to talk honestly instead of being tsundere. If Jeremy went to talk with her directly, a lot of things could have been avoided.

I kinda pitied the knight guy. Obviously, he lost his will to live anymore. Killing him would be a mercy for him at this point.

I can't pity him, the dumb knight was as hostile and cold to Shuli much like the other servants. Only at the end realised he fucked up.
Killing him would be mercy but he doesn't deserve such peace.

Spoiler: To clarify, I understand that she wasn't responsible for her death but seeing how she intentionally ruined what would have been the happiest moment of that Shuli's life to avoid having a chink in Jeremy's armor so she wouldn't be thrown away was just a big emotional manupulation thing that sets me off. __________________ Last edited by Twi; 2021-01-16 at 12:49.

Spoiler: It was a power-play for the Church to try and reign the nobility in. They want more political power and know that the emperor has some favoritism towards Shuli, so her death would anger both the commoners and nobility despite her reputation. They'll eventually place the blame on one of the neighboring regions housing the ones responsible, who they consider heretics, which will stir Jeremy and the others into a Holy War. Yeah, the priest might have been horny for Shuli, but it was done with the consensus of freaking Pope who wanted the death to be as brutal as possible and the Priest himself seems to intend to use her death to eventually gather faithful to remove the other existing priests and pope as well, using Shuli's death for the sake of doing so and justifying that sacrificing her life will earn her a place in heaven. The head guard wasn't involved in the attack (at least not knowingly in the Manwha). He arrived after seeking them out to apologize only to come across the scene and... well, the art says it all. I personally think the changes from the novel spoilers I read do the series a lot more justice because it expands the depth. __________________
