^that signature is very appropriate right now...
So, finally they got this out of their system... Congrats? Poor Rinko. Poor, poor Rinko. That girl is a saint. Also, it never stops being hilarious when she calls Takeo a late bloomer, just like that. (Makes me wish she was less of a fluffy cloud of spun sugar most of the time.) |

For the longest time this has been my favorite kissing scene from any media.
Over five years later, and after viewing countless more couples kissing on screen, that scene has finally been eclipsed, but perhaps only because I have a greater fondness for Rinko and Takeo. Quote:

The only thing that I didn't like about the episode was the mention of Odious-kun. It spiked a momentary fear that he might just barge his way into the episode and ruin Takeo's birthday. My New Year's Day wish would've been that we never see him again. |

I laughed so hard when Suna was reminded of the kiss. I also really loved Takeo's mom being all "have fun....!"
and I don't know why, but the kiss made me tear up a little. And the second kiss made me tear up a lot more. It wasn't even because it was touching. Or sad. I guess I was just so happy. I've been rooting for them to get to that point hahahahaha

The kiss was so cute and ridiculous at the same time. Takeo looks like an actual giant compared to Yamato. And that was just kissing, I don't want to imagine what the rest is going to be like (I actually don't have to, there's a pic floating around).

Episode 19:
Beautiful episode. A new life is bought to the world thanks to Takeo's mom. Speaking of which, I find Takeo's family to be very entertaining to watch each time they get screen time. Not too much Yamato/Takeo chemistry this week but I liked how the episode gave more insight on Takeo's family. And plus, his dad is a certain kind of awesome. He definitely resembles Takeo in a way.

I continue to worry about Rinko. The act of these two producing a child is scary enough, but then the result... a girl like her pregnant with such a gigantic child... oh my.
Anyway, cute episode again, Takeo's parents are awesome and I wish they had more screentime. (Especially his dad.) Chocolate, huh. So if my calculation is right we'll get volume 7 done in the remaining 4 episodes. Not sure how I feel about what that implies, but oh well. Maybe we'll have a 25th episode. |

From what I heard, a small woman will usually end up with a small baby, but the baby will have a tremendous growth spurt the first month or so. I could be wrong, but that is what I remember hearing at some point. Size wise, Rinko and Takeo always reminds me of that famous sumo wrestler and his tiny wife. It was really big in the news, but I absolutely forgot the name since it was so long ago.

I've said it often, but Takeo's parents are great and his mom is especially awesome. What a superb character!
This episode was just plain wonderful ... what else is there to say? An excellent combination between humor, seriousness, and ... man ... so many things! Extremely enjoyable.

A very good episode. I liked getting a good view of Takeo's parents and the kind of people they are. He really does take after them in many ways. Especially his mother in being willing to risk herself to help someone without thinking of the risk to herself.
Also shows how blessed Takeo is. He has great parents, but also a great best friend and girlfriend. All the craziness going on with his mother, but Suna calmly called for the taxi, paid for it, and even called Yamato after things calmed down. While Takeo wants to be a calm force, he just cares too much to be able to do that easily.

I believe you mean Mr. Spock (that's been a common mistake for 40 years, so it gets rather annoying to still see it happen). Still - given the theme of the episode, your choice of title is rather ironic.

Yuriko: Best animu mom EVER. I want Yuriko to be my mom and give me tons of life advice.
I even cried a little at this episode with Takeo worrying about Yuriko, thinking of his childhood. Yama and Suna really are the best friends a person could ask for.

Episode 20:
Mm, that was a cute episode with Valentine themes. I find it amusing that the guys are so eager to receive the chocolates, not that it should be surprising though given the occasion. I'm also glad to see that Takeo was able to receive Yamato's feelings like usual. The ending potentially sets up for the next episode though and I have a feeling that Suna will be involved.

Wow looks like they might actually look into a potential romantic angle with Suna. Kind of revived that topic this episode while getting his thoughts on Valentines. Accepted the chocolate and made sure to return the favor to those who left names on white day (man that has to be an expensive day for him considering all the girls who give him chocolate). Now getting to the point that an issue for him is not meeting anyone he really clicked with. Too many were talking trash about Takeo which basically instantly cut them from consideration.
Very possible the silver haired girl is one of those who were too shy to leave their names. Thus kind of making it hard for him to notice them . The episode itself was great. I loved Takeo flipping out over this. Despite his internal monologue that anything would be fine, he only considered the group chocolate to be a possibility after he'd gotten home. Of course Yamato came through in a huge way. This is a holiday that she can really get into since she's so darn good at baking sweets anyways. The groups weren't all that annoying this week and it wasn't a bad episode on that front. Some fun moments along the way, including Takeo falling from a window . Also nice to meet baby Maki. Seems like she'll grow up to be quite the character .

Yep, Rinko is a saint. I mean, come on Takeo, I know you're the King of Bros, but how about thinking about what Rinko would want for a second? Sure, he asked Rinko whether she was OK with the group "date" but knowing her what else could she have answered but yes?
Oh well, all's well that ends well... at least it resulted in funny moments. And it's good that the artificial "oh no I didn't get any chocolate" drama was dealt with quickly with Takeo realizing that he did get some, after all. (And then of course he did get his own special chocolate. ) By the way, I really like that little guitar main BGM that plays every once in a while, this time it was while Rinko & Co. were baking the cookies. It's so cute. Quote:
There are a number of possibilities here, but tbh I'd consider the option that we should assume that every single girl Suna ever came into contact with was such a hopeless bitch that Suna basically gave up on ever finding a girl he could like pretty irritating. (Not saying that this option is not likely, unfortunately... Still, it'd be even worse because we see that not every girl talks trash about Takeo, and even some of those who were iffy about him, such as Rinko's friends, came around when they got to know him better.)
