The whole Kujian sequence felt out of place though. It seemed like they just threw that in there because they made the anime version and they needed something to pad the episode. Maybe it would've made more of an impact if I actually watched the series

Unfortunately, due to Kuchiki's little "accident" while recruiting club members, the only "member" recruited was Sasahara's sister. But I think that Ohno's term as president will be the funniest of all.

Love the changes in the opening! There's more cosplay of the ladies now. Ohno in that outfit from the ero game, but not quite sure about Ogiue and Saki though. But damn Saki looks good in it Glad to see the opening evolving though. Episode was all around solid in the end and definitely a bit depressing with the events. But I'm pretty excited for whats next without saying more XD

The Kujian stuff is in the manga chapter, but it's limited to a few panels, and it's of the manga. The main point there is linking things moving on for the Genshiken with the plot in Kujibiki Unbalance, whose characters' main plot arcs are largely finished and things are moving on. This gets brought up again when they complain about the subsequent turns the manga takes, where new, younger characters (including Tokino's little sister) and a different tone are introduced, and excuses are found to keep some of the already-graduated characters in the limelight. (This in itself is a meta-reference to Genshiken, where the subsequent arcs grow somewhat more serious, and Madarame, Tanaka, and Kugayama keep showing up even after they're technically not undergrads any more.)

As for how it played out in the anime, I have two different inclinations. The first is that since Kujian followed Genshiken in its transition from manga to anime, the anime staff felt like they had to do likewise in this episode. In spite of this practical concern, it actually does dovetail nicely into the anime continuity, where the Kujian anime is finally getting a proper conclusion after so many problems with the first season (and a second season that completely reimagined the franchise rather than providing any closure). My second inclination is that the anime staff is saying this is, in effect, the proper conclusion to the first part of Genshiken, but they couldn't do more than 12 episodes back in 2004 because subsequent material didn't even exist in manga form yet. But at the same time, I get an eerie feeling that they're also prepping us for an OVA conclusion to Genshiken 2, since there's no way in hell they'll be able to finish the series at this rate...

...So in short, it's being used to provide a proper sense of finality, even if it isn't actually The End in any significant way just yet.

First half was bittersweet emotional exchanges between Ohno and Ogiue on their feelings, and the second half was basically "Boy Who Cried Wolf" tale of Kuchiki.

Lesson learned: your everyday impression counts!

Oh, and almost forgot.... fanservice, lots of it.
It seems every episode of Genshiken 2 has to have tons of it.

Been watching nothing but Genshiken this last couple of days and today I was finally able to watch eps. 7 of this new season.

lol...I haven't even gotten to watch Episode 7 , but I'll fix that soon. Eight should be out sometime today too, I think. I know the RAW is out, which I've downloaded, but I suck when it comes to trying to understand Japanese by myself. I'd much rather have the subbers do it for me.

Happens to me as well. I sometimes leave things on hold for weeks before I actually got around to watch them.

ahh alas with 3 important members gone from the genshiken team, the atmosphere feels rather empty...im already missing the guys ;__; (kinda depressing really...)

not sure how the series will end but any relationship between ogiue and sasahara should now be the main event ~

dunno how you can say its boring, its character development.

I like that.

Far too few animes these day try to flesh out the characters.

While most of you will say they can do this gradually over the series, the point is that there isn't enough to go around, plus those who say this are usually those who read the manga so know whats going on.


anyway trust me, the best part of ep8 was Ono's screams, dammn they were hilarious.

And for haruhi sake, kuchi you need to be bloody neutered and collared. lol.

Episode o8 was good because it has classic Kuchiki. Akira Ishida did such a great job with him this episode --- especially when the thief first appeared. It's a shame they left out that one scene in the manga, where Kuchiki in cosplay is shown chasing Ohno.

Going by the preview, episode 09 looks to have one of my favourite parts from the manga.

Saki's dream, though it's un-sure if the anime shall show her waking up from this while on the train. Wait and see i guess.
