Then you haven't seen much, I feel. There are far more wish-washy protagonists.

Personally, Tamura felt very human-like and was very enjoyable. Does very amusing things, that guy. And the novel's monologues were also amusing.
Yet Toradora... Characters lack that human nature and all become some moe-point characters. ( -_-)

Ohh I am really glad I found this post.

I was reading Toradora on wikipedia and saw a link to this series. Then went and read all the 16 chapters translated so far. Must say that I am pretty torn on whom I want the Tamura to end up with.

Since I read the spoilers already I can only say that I hope that at least he keeps both in his life as friends and such.

Painful!!:

• Getting mad at the Main character! (Not hating yet, still need to hear his answer in the next chapter)
• The way he pushed her at the table with her new dress was cruel, painful, and really embarrassing for her.
• A line that I would never expect to hear on a female character on this kind of gender: "What are you going to do about the feeling that I'm starting to have for you!?" Good job Soma!
• It's usually not good when a girl begs for the guys feelings but I just cant help feeling sorry for her.

One thing that really impressed me about this manga is that the female characters aren't dumb, shy, and completely hopeless. Their feelings are straight forward as well as their communication with the guy. So when the heavy plot started I do feel sorry for them cause I feel that they shy away and hesitated with their chances.

I feel really sorry for her but I have a feeling that she's doom

I've never seen a character in a love triangle triumphed when they start begging and I hope this'll be the first one to.

Although only a background character, It was really entertaining to watch Takaura's sister's scenes, a very good comedic relief. She's like a younger version of Yuko (xxxHolic).

i can't stand tsundere unrequited love, so are not satisfied with the ending. -_-'

The ending is OK, not so bad through... But i admit there no way we can call this love triangle story.

and here I thought I could get a romance that had drama that ended well... am I correct to guess that either he ends up with neither/Matsuzawa? It's sounding more like the first option though, which sucks... eh, who knows. It'll be a decent read either way, and I've seen worse

Spoiler for my thoughts in that case:

eh, I guess in that case, it did make the ending predictable... while I personally will always love tsunderes over most other types, as long as it's not for some random, completely out of the blue reason he rejects Hiroka, and there's a decent build up, it'll work. After all, it can't be any more OOC that Ichigo 100% was at the end... I guess we go by the rule of ends up with first girl. And Matsuzawa did have a few good points to her anyways. Although, at least where I am, it says that Matsuzawa's nothing more than a close friend, and that Hiroka has the better chance, but I've seen things change drastically in one chapter, so i figure the switch can't be all that bad. Still, for me it's a case of goddammit Tamura, you should've gone with Hiroka...

Apparently Ef Tale of memories will be the only dramatic romance that will make me cry tears of joy

hey, as I said, I don't mind it being Matsuzawa at the end, as long as he has a damned good reason for going back to her (please note that this is obviously different from reality, as generally it is bad to go back to a previous lover in RL... then again, manga is made so that it doesn't necessarily follow RL)

I know, I know, I was a bit disappointed there too. The manga was following the novel quite loyally until then.
Though mah, fuhihihi, Komaki supporter so it didn't really matter too much. Good that the actual outcome didn't change.

The novel somewhat ends the same way (like the girl Tamura chooses), but it was more dramatic/better in the novel near the end. If you search this thread or the novel thread, you might find more information on the differences...

Never once in my life have i felt a manga characters sadness on not finding out if his first love really did love him in the first place.

Chapter 19 was finally translated.

The fact that Yuyuko is so willing to toy with audience expectations gives me some hope that Toradora won't end as expected. I really thought Matsuzawa and him were done.

Also, how did the novel end? Was the final pairing different?

My memory's off but if I recall correctly...

Matsuzawa is supposed to be going on a bus instead. Tamura gets to the bus and boards it thinking Komaki's on it. Except it turns out she's outside the bus. Bus takes off, with Matsuzawa chasing the bus and Tamura declaring their love for each other. Then we get the DAWWW moment from the people on the bus. The bus driver's nice enough to stop and let Tamura off. Some more DAWWWWW. And then Tamura brings Matsuzawa back home, where we see Matsuzawa's uncle and aunt waiting over there and they take her home abruptly. The uncle really doesn't seem to like Tamura. Tamura's left slack jawed.

Meanwhile, somewhere else Souma and Takaura are teaming up to cook up a scheme on getting Souma and Tamura hooked up together since a long distance relationship has a good chance of not working out, and since technically, Tamura did admit that he liked Souma (even though he said he couldn't anything until he resolved this Matsuzawa situation). And somewhere else, sleeping on ride home, is Matsuzawa, who's having a dream about getting number 1 in a race so she can get a reward.

Sort of like a "to be continued ending" that never got continued, simply because...there's really no need for anything more to be said.

It's been a long time so I probably screwed up some details. I can't find my novels either.

Personally, it was obvious that it was going to end with Matsuzawa with all that angst that Tamura was going through over here for most of the volume. If it ended without the bus chase/manga equivalent, he really would have done nothing at all.

And on to that Toradora stuff.

I'll add that the bike ride of Souma and Tamura to get down to the bus station is a lot like when Minori and Ryuuji chasing after Taiga in the spoilers I wrote down before.
