Voted Akira/Takumi, but Mai/Tate comes as a close second.

Really liked the character development in each of these people, almost as much as their relationship dynamics. I feel like Akira and Takumi really brought out good things and change in each other, while Mai's and Tate's relationship with all its obstacles and difficulties in accepting it and each other felt so real and poignant.

On a side note, I really didn't care much for Akane and Kazu in HiME, since they were kind of bland and not really developed. But they served their tragic purpose for the audience as well as the characters nicely.

(Btw, only watched HiME and Otome animes. And go me for getting into fandoms four years late.)

I cannot choose between Reito X Mai or Nagi X Mashiro, although in the end I choose NagiMashiro...
At first, I like TateXMai pairing, but... in the end... I just grew to hate Tate and love Reito more. Reito and Mai will make a very good couple, I think...
But Nagi X Mashiro looks so cute together too... ugh, it's hard to choose... -_-

there's no haruka/reito? too bad..i prefer them together. yukino/haruka doesn't appeal me much. XD

Anyway it's the first time I've heard about this pairing.

What about Reito/Youko? I approve Youko for my Ani-ue but Haruka is a bit ...

Non Shoujo-AI; oh my; this series has some of the worst.

Akira X Takumi wins by default. Akane X Kazuya can do fine, but I usually don't remember who they are until I think about it.

I so agree. In Mai-HiME there is some sort of connection between them - I read a fanfic on fanfiction.net and became hooked on the couple!

Reito and Haruka is just like pairing Shizuru to Haruka. But seriously, i prefer Haruka with Reito over Yukino. DX
