Does anyone know where to find a place that puts Japanese words in romanji into Japanese characters?

For starters, I would like to know what the Japanese word 'Youko' is in Japanese characters. It is Youko as in 'Youko Kurama' from Yu Yu Hakusho. I know it is different from the typical Japanese name Yoko. Could someone translate that to Japanese characters? And hopefully someone can direct me to a site that translates words into the Japanese written system.

That would be rather difficult, as there are usually multiple readings for romaji.

The only method I know of sorry is to type in JP the romaji of the word you're looking for then scroll through the possibilities, maybe using google/dictionaries if you're still unsure. I believe any online resource would operate on a similar basis (laying out all the possible spellings).

Btw what you're looking for is 妖狐.

I find Denshi Jisho pretty useful. The first entry that pops up for "youko" is, in fact, 妖狐, the very term you are looking for.

The greater challenge, I find, is to translate kanji into English, rather than the other way round.

If we could invent a system to do that for us, we wouldnt need translators anymore...LOL
I agree that scrolling through the possible kanji on a dictionary/ word processor is the only way to go. Thats how most Japanese find kanji that they cant write.

Also "youko" in this case is a name but also points to a magical/ monster fox, so unless you knew that, it would have been hard to identify the kanji characters even if you had the list of kanji in front of you.

can someone please translate this song?

Lyric
願い望み焦がれ 伸べる手は届かずに
彷徨うは心淡く 叫ぶ声たゆたうだけ

祈り言葉想い 枯れゆくこと知らずに
青い星の上眠る君は 今何を思う
世界は灼熱に姿を変えてゆく

無限の空 舞う翼白く
揺らめく炎に消えた幻
紅蓮の夜に眠る友よ
いざなう声は響く空の彼方へ

Romanji

negai nozomi kogare noberu te wa todokazu ni
samayou wa kokoro awaku sakebu koe tayutau dake

inori kotoba omoi kare yuku koto shirazu ni
aoi hoshi no ue nemuru kimi wa ima nani o omou
sekai wa shakunetsu ni sugata o kaete yuku

mugen no sora mau tsubasa shiroku
yurameku honoo ni kieta maboroshi
guren no yoru ni nemuru tomo yo
izanau koe wa hibiku sora no kanata e

Btw, I'm not sure what たゆたう means. I have heard it before, but I don't really know what it means.

^ Firstly, I have no experience in translating songs, nor any knowledge on any artistic use of words in the lyrics.

I just look at the line with たゆたう, and I think 'fleeting' goes with 'heart', going by the verse break. たゆたう means 'swaying' which should go together with 'screaming voice'.

たゆたうwould be more closer to drift, as in drift on water.
also, "swaying flame" may be better if you translate it as "flickering flame", but apart from those small stuff, this is great translation!

How about SoraOto's Astraea's character song, "Fool in the Labyrinth".

I think this site has a kanji option in case you have any doubts about the romaji used here.

I'll add the English translation to that site, along with the translator's username.

精霊魔装(エレメンタルヴアツフエ)

So that's the katakana written on side of the kanji. I know the first part of the katakana is "elemental", what's the second part? What's Vasfe (Vatufe)?

ヴァッフェ = Waffe (weapon).

=> Elemental Weapon. Fits pretty well.

So it is German. Thank you.

By the way, I got another question for our more knowledgeable Japanese users.

So in the book that I am reading, the author uses the word "濡れた" quite a few times, like "濡れた唇” or "濡れた目", but the girl is taking a bath at the time, so should I understand 濡れた as "wet" or do you use the word in general situation, say just a girl with moist lips?

I think we would use both as the word 濡れたjust points to a state where something is wet. But I would supplement the word with しっとり、ぐっしょり、びっしょり to further describe "how" wet it ts.

しっとりと濡れた唇 would be moist lips
雨に降られてびっしょり濡れた would be I got rained on and now I am drenched.

王位につく

I'd like the romaji for this. I think it roughly translates to "Ascend to the throne". If anyone can help me with this, I'd appreciate it.

"oui ni tsuku"

There are probably dictionaries and romaji converters that would do the trick, though.

you mean 僕?

That's "boku", another version of "I"/"me". Generally used by adolescent boys or tomboyish girls.

Oh God, it wasted me 15 minutes to look for that in vain. Always used watashi before,so even when i know the word 'boku', didn't know the kanji....

Thank there, mate

Can also be pronounced as "shimobe" meaning "servant". Gets confusing when you see sentences like 僕はあなたの僕です。
