PD is kind of crappy in how much it biases towards faster connections that way. It will happily download and upload tons of unity files, but it won't let you download what you actually want if your connection is too slow.

Well that sucks, I'm uploading around 200kb/s and I'm guessing that's not enough still =\

200 kilobytes/s? That should be plenty fast enough, because my connection is a lot slower and PD is still useable, though generally slow.

It may just be that the file you want isn't very widespread, or that there isn't a complete copy left anymore.

It goes at 150~200KB/s some times, not all the time though

Though, I heard non-anime stuff is usually slower, so maybe that's why (still seiyuu related though)

It doesn't help the PD userbase is much smaller than the one of winny or share. This program kinda flopped and really has nothing of more value than the other 2 for the Japanese.

Execute the following:

Now open up the file in a text editor and make certain it contains the following lines.

The patch to run Share on Windows 8 also lets you run it on Wine.

I was honestly sick of running it in a VM or booting into Windows.

How do you get more search results? There should clearly be issue 34 here, I doubt they just skipped scanning that issue, but it doesn't appear here. And no it's not capped out at 1000 results either, there is only 148 right now.

You run it on VM? Which software? I used VirtualBox but never got it to work. I'm not too sure about the configurations for the vbox port forwarding. Note that I can only use NAT and not bridged (if it's bridged I won't have an issue but unfortunately I only have 1 IP at home).

It seems that on the PD homepage itself, there's absolutely no mention of what security features or what changelogs the latest patch brings whatsoever...

EDIT: Found some brief changelogs in the @wiki. Only up to 1.08 tho.... (1.22 is the current)

One wonders how secure PD is when you have groups like this crawling for uploader IPs by passing off as nodes

For those who can't read it,

Basically, PD utilizes onion routing like tor, but is not compatible with the main global tor network

The public pass code's secret and public keys are handled by onion routing.

After a period of 1-2 hrs or a change in IP, a new set of keys is issued automatically

To maintain connection, the IP and public keys of other nodes (up to 4000) are retained by each node. Node to node connection is done by onion routing.

Not sure how the latest patch functions

The question is, are these IPs the real IPs of each user? The whole point of onion routing is to mask your IP on top of encrypting your traffic no? And masking of IP should be a basic requirement in such instances. So how much threat to those copyright enforcement web crawlers pose? They can see all who pass through them but will they see the one sending the download request? And storing 4000 IPs...if they are real on one's PC is kind of...not secure.... But it isn't the point of PD to not retain any such info in the first place?

EDIT: nevermind...... Perfect Dark is essentially Freenet it seems.
