hi there!! i think i´m on the right thread...as i can see that all of you like Elfen... i want an opinion from someone else who has seen Elfen Lied...

Yesterday i went to the movies and watched X-Men3... and there´s a scene where Jean is standing on a bridge, and all the soldiers start firing at her, she stops all the bullets on the air they float there for a second or two...and they all drop together to the ground... does this ring a bell??

i thought of lucy as i was watching that scene... but i don't have many friends who have watched elfen...so here i am, asking you if you have seen XMEN!!

Do you know how many movies use that idea? Matrix is one.

And pretty much any movie that has Psychics, so this isn't unique to Xmen.

you haven't seen the movie..if you had...you'd realize that is that they are using the same idea.... they are copying the scene... i couldn't help to think of lucy standing there doing the same exact thing.... i´m not asking for the idea.. i´m asking for the scene... i think that anyone who has seen elfen lied... goes to the movies, watch Xmen and think of lucy when they see that scene...

I am so behind on the good anime watching. Man, I've only seen the first episode. And that was along time ago! It was Ondemand at the time.

I'm going to buy the DVD though, but something...i am not sure what, makes me think im going to have to have my parents get it for me.

I thought this show was lame to average to tell the truth....
I mean it had some action... lots of blood... and wasnt really my cup of tea...

I'd give it a 5.5/10

hello guys, i'd like to know if the position of the hands has any meaning, i guess it does, i don't know if u noticed it in the opening and in one of the last chapters, but lucy's hand has a specific position, like a W or something like that, i mean, the middle and the 4th fingher are togrther, i don't know if u could help me, i'm trying to find out.

P.S. watch School Rumble, u gonna love it.

Actually when Lucy's horn got broken I think the presence of Lucy disappeared because of the horns. Atleast that happened in the manga.

That has already been discussed. It couldn't be Lucy because Nana would have felt her. It is up to each person as to weither or not they want to think that it is Nyu or someone else.

i choose to see it as the lonely girl that kohta fell in love with when he was a child...

it's no longer the angry, hate-filled lucy that nana knows so well, so nana would not recognize her... plus, with both her horns gone, perhaps she is totally changed...

i don't think it's the nyu we know from early in the series... in that, i don't think it will be the little girl sounding total innocent... but it is the new lucy that is filled with nyu good-heartedness and both sides of the personality's complete love for kohta...

whatever you believe, it's a beautiful ending and you know, a) she didn't die, and b) the director general is still around and still a crazy sob, so he will still be trying to breed and destroy the human race... plus there were at least up to number 35 of the girls, so there are probably some other crazy ones coming too...

does anyone read the manga? how far does the manga go?

AFAIK, the manga went far beyond the anime and produced a far more sadistic Lucy. I think it's ended better than the anime - there's more closure, I think.

Everything is opposite of above. Lucy killed the director, the vector virus diclonius except for Nana are all dead and she is living with Kurama, and Lucy and Nyu sacraficed their life to save Kouta. And there is a vaccine so there will be no more vector virus diclonius. In the end Lucy was no longer sadistic and Nyu was no longer weak. They appeared side by side to protect Kouta and the other girls from the Maple Inn from the third personality, the voice that was always telling Lucy to kill,. They dissappeared after Kouta was unable to keep the promise that he made to kill Lucy if she killed a lot of people. But then the personality controlling Lucy's body handed Kouta a gun with her vectors and asked him to end her suffering. Lucy's body was falling apart because she overused her powers. At that point all that was left was her head and torso with bones showing through. The chapter ends with Kouta crying that he killed Nyu, one last sad memory. That year, after Kouta recovered from being shot twice, once while protecting Nyu and the last time while protecting Lucy, when everyone else went to the festival he went to Lucy's dog's grave, where he and Lucy had promised to meet again when they were children, and waited. He did the same thing every year. On the tenth year he brought his daughter, name Nyu and looking like child Yuka, and told her about his very special friend. Then she surprised him by telling him that she already knew about that place, that her friends had brought her there and that they were twins. After a time, as they are getting ready to leave, Nyu shows her father something in the grave. It is an almost buried bottle and inside is a piece of jade stone that Kouta had given to child Lucy and a message that she had written. It said that if he were reading the message that he had kept his promise. That she always treasured that stone and that it would make a nice setting for a wedding ring. and it was signed Kaede. After reading that Kouta broke down crying. It was obvious that he had forgiven Lucy and that he didn't hate her. Then two figures, probably 10 year old twins, who had apparently been waiting to see Kouta's reaction to the note, start to approach. Kouta has his back to them, but Nyu hears and then sees them. She says "Kaede, what are you girls doing here." Hearing that name startles Kouta. Then Kaede, smiling (we can see their mouths but not the top of their heads), replies: "We have come to see our very special friend." After hearing those words Kouta smiles and starts to turn toward them. And we can see them. Well dressed with ribbons that look like they are covering horns (My signature). It appears that, unlike Lucy, they have had a happy childhood with family that loves them, friends, and each other so that they were never alone.

the anime ended alot earlier than the comic so anime had to have another ending and even if there is anime season 2 the story will be totally different since alot of things moved to a different path in the anime series in the late eps.
however its not very likely there will be a season 2 on anime and almost impossible to have further story after the comic ending.
I personally like an ending that explains wat happened to everyone and clear all the mysteries,well but EL is still a very good series and i love it

The people who took over for Kurama were much more sadistic than him. They killed a diclonius so they could use her in a detection device. Lucy was much more sadistic in the beginning, but she slowly changed. At the end she and Nyu were becomming more alike. If she had actually gotten to return to the Maple Inn and live with Kouta and the other girls I think, at some point, her Lucy and Nyu personalities would have merged. She actually remembered a lot of what happened to Nyu and Nyu could use the vectors. At the end she sings "Elfen Lied" which Nozomi had taught to Nyu. The manga also had more abrupt changes in mood. Near the end, at the top of the light house where they were talking, after Kouta told her that he hated her and could never forgive her for killing his father and sister, he told her that if she would promise to not use her powers to hurt people then he would like her to come back and live with them. She agreed and then went to call for medical help since he was starting to bleed again. Kurama was waiting for her with a gun. She was going to keep her promise and let him kill her, but a third personality (the voice that told her to kill) took over and cut off his arm. That personality released her as Kouta came down the stairs to see what the noise was. He thought that she had attacked Kurama for no reason and he wouldn't listen to her explaination. He told her that he couldn't trust her and that he never wanted to see her again. Then, as he turned to leave, he saw Kurama with the gun in his other hand pointed at Lucy. Kouta pushed her out of the way and took the bullet instead. She asked him why and he said that his sister had died with him wrongly mad at her and he didn't want it to happen again. He apologized to her for not listening and said that he knew that she was only defending herself. Then, after saying that he wouldn't die, he collapsed. That is when Lucy went berserk and became super powerful at the expense of her body. In the end she only wanted two things. For kouta to live (she used her vectors to graft her own flesh over his wounds to stop the bleeding), and for her memories of Kouta not to die with her and they apparently live on in the twins.

The only major problem would be the fact that Kouta has his memories back much earlier than in the manga. It would not be that difficult to have a second season that was fairly close to the Manga and with the manga ending, but it would need 24 or more episodes to properly introduce Nozomi and cover all the material. That said, unless there were record breaking DVD sales for the first season, it is highly unlikely that there will be a second.
