Matsuzawa is supposed to be going on a bus instead. Tamura gets to the bus and boards it thinking Komaki's on it. Except it turns out she's outside the bus. Bus takes off, with Matsuzawa chasing the bus and Tamura declaring their love for each other. Then we get the DAWWW moment from the people on the bus. The bus driver's nice enough to stop and let Tamura off. Some more DAWWWWW. And then Tamura brings Matsuzawa back home, where we see Matsuzawa's uncle and aunt waiting over there and they take her home abruptly. The uncle really doesn't seem to like Tamura. Tamura's left slack jawed.

Meanwhile, somewhere else Souma and Takaura are teaming up to cook up a scheme on getting Souma and Tamura hooked up together since a long distance relationship has a good chance of not working out, and since technically, Tamura did admit that he liked Souma (even though he said he couldn't anything until he resolved this Matsuzawa situation). And somewhere else, sleeping on ride home, is Matsuzawa, who's having a dream about getting number 1 in a race so she can get a reward.

Sort of like a "to be continued ending" that never got continued, simply because...there's really no need for anything more to be said.

It's been a long time so I probably screwed up some details. I can't find my novels either.

Personally, it was obvious that it was going to end with Matsuzawa with all that angst that Tamura was going through over here for most of the volume. If it ended without the bus chase/manga equivalent, he really would have done nothing at all.

From my blurry memories, it was something like that, yes. Though unless you read the whole two novels, the meaning of some of the final events (like Komaki's dream or her chasing Tamura) is harder to understand/less powerful, I feel.

It was a nice read until the final arc when Matsuzawa came back... then the nonsense started. Story with plenty of potential wasted with such an ending.

It's not really left opened... I guess the manga left people feeling that way...? It's supposed to be a Komaki end, if it's hard to realize...

It seemed as if the ending was sort of sudden... It would've been nice to have a few more chapters or something.

Overall, I still enjoyed this manga. However--

Actually, I felt the same exact way. The author for the original source material tends to dwaddle on in the middle of a book with gags and wishywashiness, then unleashes a sudden exposive spectacle at the end or towards the end. Like the, "Who's Souma-san?" letter. That actually came up on the last 2 or 3 pages of the original novel.

Keeping the pacing, but moving away from the explosion part and converting it into something mellow didn't really work, imo. I didn't get much out of it. One possible reason was that the magazine it was serialized in died at the same time it ended so the artist couldn't squeeze in the necessary stuff. Then again, it should have ended around that time no matter what, so maybe that's just the position he wanted to take with his rendition?

Come to think of it, I remember reading on animenewsnetwork about a lot of manga from that magazine ending or something... Mmm, maybe that could be the reason, though I doubt it.

Yeah, a bunch of titles in Dengeki Gao were finished during the final few months left in the magazine. The other stuff that was still worth maintaining were then shifted over to Dengeki Daioh.

Well, managed to KO this manga (another of the few that I can say I've finished... so much I've started but need to complete)... and to me it seems that though he's in love with Matsuzawa, because she's gone for a while, he'll also be with Souma for the time being (with them talking about how neither of them were rejected)... but maybe that's a watered=down manga version of events

Hear my tale,

Once upon a time, there was this guy who's after some weird rabbit girl to won her love. Admirably somehow he did it, but then she left and transfer school leaving him brokenhearted. She gave him only a charm as she left.

Somewhat a year later he met an anti-social tsundere, completely attached to her personality, while she bitched at him all the time. But the guy being the kind person he is wanted to help her no matter what, resulting the girl to finally opens up and grew completely affectionate towards him, ended up loving him.

So far okay, a happy ending, but no... this is where the annoying part starts.

He suddenly remembers about the rabbit-girl, and wanted to start things up with her once again. He become wishy-washy and seems doesn’t care about his surroundings and beginning chase after the rabbit girl once again. He didn't seem to realize that he already made one tsundere girl fell in love with him madly because of his admirable effort. When the tsundere girl wanted to claim to be his lover, he hesitate and seems to abhor such idea. The tsundere then claims him to be a despicable two timer, which is indeed, correct.

Afterwards the tsundere is desperate, and begs him to love her, but alas all of these facts seems come to naught. The guy just seems couldn’t go on with life, always clinging to the past.

He finally confronts the rabbit girl once again, only to be dumped and brokenhearted, once again. The day after, as he about to throw away the charm that the rabbit girl gave him, the charm opens, pouring all the feelings the rabbit girl had for him, which is love. Alas, he pursued her once again with the tsundere girl as his driver, who supported him heartedly despite all the hardships he had given to her.

He met the rabbit girl as she was about to leave, then started spilling crap and nonsense yada yada, resulting the rabbit girl to cry ‘I Love You’ bunch of times. She then vows to return to him once her business is finished. And she vows to wait for her.

Afterwards, he met the tsundere girl, who jokes about him being ‘dumped’ by the rabbit girl, the guy insisted that he wasn’t ‘dumped’, the tsundere girl also insisted that she wasn’t ‘dumped’ by the guy either. They both smiled.

Epilogue: The tsundere girl and rabbit girl tells us how’s this crappy, two-timed, wishy-washy guy is their beloved Tamura-Kun.

The End

Final thought: an average series. Just had to vent about Tamura’s stupidity.

I've only seen one other thing nearly this bad, and that's with the anime version of Tsukune from R+V...ugh... even thinking about that guy makes me sick

"Possibly one of the best novels I have ever read... I am sorry to say but, Toradora! simply cannot even compare to this (I used to almost-worship Toradora! before reading this). Pastel is the only novel/manga that could match this one for me... unless someone is willing to recommend something better?

The ending was not horrible as most seem to suggest.. yes, the story could have been made longer (and hopefully turned into an anime, please!) but, the ending gives off a 'touching moment' as well as pleasing Ice Queen fans at the same time.

As for me, Matsuzawa Komaki ALL THE WAY! From the first time I saw the page asking 'Which do you support?' I prefered Matsuzawa and I stick to my decision. But, Souma does have some really great points about her ... and Ice Queen as a nickname.. love it. Still though, Matsuzawa is simply .. beyond words to me.

By the way, does anyone know if the last two extra chapters were ever released?? I could not seem to find them anywhere at all.."

This was awesome. I read it one day too. It reminded me a lot of ef and I''s.

What made this great was the characters weren't perfect and you could see where they were coming from. I think I would have liked a more closed ending or something, but it was still really enjoyable.

It would be great an anime would be made based on the novel.

To be honest I just wanted a proper ending with Tamura choosing someone(in my mind he chose the Matsuzawa, but the ending just doesn't feel right). Both girls had enough development. So I woulda been satisfied if he just chose someone and let the other girl down properly.

It's pretty much Matsuzawa. The novel's way of ending is a lot more certain than the manga's...

I actually liked the fact it was short, since that meant things wouldn't get dragged, unlike the story about an annoying palmtop tiger and a scary bloke, which I ended up dropping.

As for the ending, I thought it was clear who he wanted to be with. Tamura may have developed feelings for Hiroka, but the one he truly wanted to be with was Komaki. He could never let go of her, and when he met her again he realised he truly wanted to be with her. The ending delivered this point quite clearly, and in quite a nice fashion, in my opinion.

This story is not long enough for an anime, but I'd really like it if it gets some OVAs.
