Happy news! I was emotionally prepared for this to be yet another show that doesn't go far enough in its storyline. So when I saw the ANN headline tweet this morning, I was very surprised. It made my morning.

I haven't read the article yet, there's going to be a break before the 2nd season, yes?

They doesn't mention when the 2nd season is going to be aired, but based on DEEN records for split-cour series (Hakuouki, Hiiro no Kakera) I guess there's going to be at least 1 season break.

Edit: The 2nd season confirmed to be airing on Summer 2013.

I also like the way they rewrite the dialogue in this episode, making Kohaku much more likable. (though, too bad they cut down Sousuke's line)
Was Kohaku even normal per se...

Yes, she was much easier to empathize with in the anime

The manga have more than enough material. I am even worried that whether they could progress into the flashback arc or not.

And yeah, Kohaku was just a normal women until Shino gave her too much power.

I finally watched episode 13, and wow, if I hadn't known there would be a second season I'd be pretty annoyed right now. As it is, the setup was pretty clumsy, but the plot is getting interesting so I hope the second season will deliver on that account... though I also hope we'll see more of the brothers. :3 (After this it's going to be fun listening to Terashima Takuma and Maeno Tomoaki in UtaPri 2000%. XDDDD) And Hamaji has been on ignore for way too long, so I hope she'll be involved in the plot.

That fighter nun, though. Dat cleveage. This is a strange church... XD;;;

In what can only be viewed as a very weak season, Hakkenden was quite the pleasant surprise. It was a show that sneaked up on you rather than overwhelming you, but just the same it ended up being a very involving experience. I'm certainly glad this was planned for two seasons, because that would have been a lousy place to stop the anime.

I got my hopes up when grown up Shino arrived, but he's just a kid again
Still don't get why that happened anyway.
It would have been so much better if he stayed in his new form.
Sousuke's shadow is an interesting guy with some bad intentions.
Looks like Shino has a thing for Sousuke, the real one, I mean.
Those church people were really annoying this time.
This final episode didn't seem very final at all.

That's because it wasn't a final episode. We just didn't know it until a little while ago. However, I suspect the animation staff conceived of the series as a split cour from the very beginning. Hakkenden will continue.

Actually I've always been wondering if Murasame's true personality is anything like the bird at all...Would be funny if that monstrous thing has that kind of personality at the heart

Hmm expected a more climactic ending, but I was still satisfied. The guardian angel was cool and weird. I'm still sad about Kohaku, but I guess that shows how good of a character she was.

Excited for the new season in a couple months. Some more girls would be nice though.

Just started watching this. Can't believe I let it fly under my radar until now. The character interactions and dialogue are so enjoyable, and I'm quite in love with Hamaji. Will probably get through the first season very quickly....

Will this be a the thread for the second half of the series, or is there a new thread?

CR get season 2 as well.

Looks like the simulcast has only 1 day delay this time. Season 1 simulcast has about 5 days delay.

So, er, isn't this thread going to be moved to the Current Series subforum?

Anyway... Episode 1 was petty good, but then I'm biased because I like cats, Fujiwara Keiji in suave oyaji roles, and Onosaka Masaya is the icing on the cake. But the story is nice, too. We have the 7th dog, and the final boss, so the plot's moving along.

So we meet the 7th dog. Shino finally remembered his target. Seems like the small doll Fenegan wanted is of the same lady. Was she similar to that blonde at the Church from the first season? I totally forgot the first season, but is she the one helping Sousuke's shadow?

Not to mention Han Megumi as a cat-boy in a kimono.
