Woah... this is a very important lesson for a person who doesn't have a knowledge on drawing ~_~....

thanks for this one Seit-sama..!!!

oh on a side note... Eirin and Keine are better to be a sensei than the neet princess lol...

Nice tutorial.

I'm pretty sure the answer is obvious, but I'm going to ask anyway since I didn't see it mentioned. Are you using multiple layers of paper and using the one beneath as a reference?

It's digital art, probably done in Photoshop, GIMP or Paint Shop Pro, and yes, layers are liberally used.

<squints old eyes>

I guess you're right. At first glance those looked like pencil lines.

If a tablet is used in a raster-based image editor like PS, it's basically the same in appearance. You can identify digital art a lot easier with vector-based drawing apps like Illustrator, where the lines are very crisp and smooth and don't have that pencil-stroke quality.

Sorry for the late reply, currently on the road ATM touring America.. damn the place is hot ^^; and typing this out on an itouch in the ass end of nowhere in the desert is utter pain..

To be exact, I'm using paint tool SAI for illustrations. The different lines are done on layers, which can be manipulated seperately for easier editing.

-I can empathise with a fellow hikikomori better and
-Eirin and Keine's clothes are way too hard to draw

On a side note I'm trying to improve my CG technique atm, here's where it's at if you're interested

Spoiler for wall of pics:

The hair is the hardest part, everyone makes it look so damn easy but getting the toning/gradients right is a nightmare..
I think there are lots of artists here... they're just hiding beneath the shadows lol... and some gfx designer can draw too.. (I think I'm the only one who can't ~_~ )..

Haha... maybe you need to be dragged out outside liked Kaguya-hime... dragged by a Tewi like person lol...

and agree Keine's suit is really complicated... Eirin's suit on the other hand is quite simple but have two colors ~_~... plus a hat on top of that lol...

Kaguya-hime is sweating ~_~ maybe it took some time to color her? btw nice job... on it, I remembered while I browsing pixiv something similar... but it is Kaguya-hime's different emotions XD...

But but, I have been dragged outside.. >< well kicked out more like, since I've just been dumped by myself in America.. Sneaking around in mcdonalds for the wifi and 'borrowing' the new iPad I brought for my Neechan (hooray bigger screen!) so no updates for awhile..

Unfortunately in terms of technique I am still very much limited to blur, mostly because I have yet to find out how to use the stupid brush tool properly. Same problem applies especially to clouds. Any tips in that general direction would be much appreciated.

This one was not my fault.

Just browsed your whole thread very interesting stuffs you have, especially those tutorials. They're definitely useful, especially the one about perspective since I'm always having trouble with those.

And it's always nice to see some artists over here. Hope you can keep drawing

Yeah, they are.

Who is the girl in your drawing, btw? is she an existing character or your original creation? pardon me since I don't really know / watch many series

I enjoyed reading that coloring tutorial. Very comprehensive and easy to understand. I usually just have a flats, a shade, maybe a darker shade and that's it.

Really like those skies too. Keep up the good work.

Very helpful resources here. Although I can only view the perspective and coloring ones but they are precisely what I need. Now it seems it'll take time to apply those in my drawing.

Thank you for sharing.

Rereading those older posts is surprisingly painful. It's like chuuni all over. Glad you found them useful, although tbh I think I really had no business trying tutorials when my own skill level was/is so terrible.

@Ryonea: The character is Patchouli_Knowledge from Touhou and in no way related to a certain forum member here nor does it reflect any feelings on my part whatsoever.
