9/11 ad for WWF causes a crisis for DDB Brasil Quote:
A disturbing (esp. if you saw the actual event, IMHO) video presentation - now being said as not being official - can also be found on YouTube, unless it gets pulled... Why would an ad for a group to protect and preserve the environment be using a human-caused attack as its driving point instead of, say, the 2005 tsunami in APac or 2008 earthquake in China... Both are rather sensitive topics, but at least they were, well, natural disasters. Perhaps trying to get people involved and say, "Yes, you can make a difference"?

I think you misread what I wrote. I wasn't saying few people know that ABC and ESPN are commonly owned. As you say, they often promote that relationship. What I said was that few people know Disney owns them both.

Rival protesters clash on streets
One side wanted to get rid of the Islamic community while the other would like to have a united community. In the end, a clash broke out. |

Anyway with the economy down in doldrums and China becoming the next US of the 21st century, why do these people even have time to mount protests?

Apparently, the term "Islamic Extremism" is derogatory to begin with. The idea is pretty much like the United States' invasion of Iraq in which people who mount protests against the actions would mount banners with the term "anti-Christian Extremism" or "anti-Catholic Extremism", how does that sound? It doesn't seem appropriate at all yet the idea of anti-Islamic Extremism seems perfectly okay, talking of double standards nowadays. Just because the invasion of Iraq was carried out by American soldiers who are also religious individuals does not mean that it is okay to blame all the Americans from that particular religion over it. And thus, why is it okay for the right-wingers to blame the entire Islamic community over terrorist attacks committed by terrorist organizations? This is totally wrong... Quote:
Generally, the idea of "No More Churches" and "Anti-Christian/Catholic Extremism" is exactly the same as "No More Mosques" and "Anti-Islamic Extremism" as that is a mass movement of dividing up a community into hatred and malice which is wrong. In the long-run, these naturally trivial misunderstandings and misinformation on the issue of terrorism and religion could lead to an escalation of the situation making things more chaotic and problematic as that there are always mass movements by either religious fanatics or right-wingers. Thus, you got the entire idea wrong. It is so definitely not Anti-racist = racist. |
