Well the TV run is now up to episode 19 after a hour long special of 18 and 19 together. I only saw the 19 part, but they showed the orignal OP with the Yamato All Stars singing instead of the new song. Reportedly they did the new song for episode 18.
There was a new ED song, but the credits were run long on black screen like film credits. I image there will be a new end scroll for episode 20 or maybe 21 (since episode 20 is 3 minutes longer than the other episodes.) No telling what they are doing with the OP. But that won't be for two weeks.

This is a bit late, but I have made a characters page with small pics of 49 characters, a little info about each one, and a link to info about their seiyuu. Despite having now watched the TV series up to ep 21, I am already finding the page useful for keeping people straight, especially on the Gamilas side.
If you want more info about each character, there is a page that translates all the character info from the official site here. I have plenty of problems with this show -- starting with the ridiculous shape of the Yamato and going on through the captain's one-note strategy and the way the show hypes Japanese militarism -- but I have enjoyed every minute of the run. A lot of things go by too quickly, but it all has worked for me.

Regarding Nana Mizuki's involvement:
I was wary, at first. Anything that wasn't more traditional seemed to just jar with Yamato. [Fight for Freedom] was an example of what not to do... But its a Nana song, and I usually liked them. So when I downloaded the album, I got a double bonus: the craziness of SYMPHOGEEEEAAAAR and the nostalgia of Yamato. [Ai no Hoshi] was orchestraic, epic, and while the instruments and singing style has been updated by 30 years, I could feel that Nana was both in her element and yet did not override what Yamato was: a old movie about an iconic ship from a bygone era. If only there was more Enka in it; I'm sure Nana would've loved it even more. (Or heck, give us an Enka track already!!) Long story short, it came out better than I expected and I hope to hell its not because I'm a Nana fanboy...

Hard to tell what is going on from such a shot trailer. I'm wondering more about Celesteria that almost anythig else at the moment. Collateral damage? Intentionally bombed? Watching Dessler's ship fall out of the sky in flame? Can't quite see, save that there is something firey outside her window and she is very, very sad.

Finally caught up to Episode 22. It's been so long since I saw the originals, I don;t remember how they deal with Dessler's ship. I'm assuming that teaser video a couple posts above has something to do with it.

To those watching the final chapter in theatres as of August 24th, the official sites have posted an apology. It seems the theatre version will be missing part of episode 25. From what i understand, the cut material won't be finished in time and this decision was made to maintain the overall quality. Wether the full episode will be completed for the TV broadcast or only for the home video release is unknown. They do assure that the missing scenes will have little effect on the overall plot of the chapter.

I read the update as well, can't tell whether it may warrant another delay for the TV and blu-ray versions. Maybe that was the initial reason why the theatrical limited edition of the blu-rays were postponed.
I was looking at the Earth fighter planes and it appears that the purpose of the default bright colors of the Cosmo Zero and Cosmo Falcon are no different from that of the 1973 version, which was to market to anime fans whom appeal to such colors. However, their alternative versions, the Cosmo Zero Alpha 2 and Kato's Falcon, presents the more realistic, practical, low visibility grey color scheme which appeal more to adult fans. Gotta love grey colored Sci-Fi planes, can't wait for Cosmo Tiger II in 2200. Last edited by calubin_175; 2013-08-12 at 07:39. |
