Don't you guys have 11 editors?
or is Translation/Editing (2) somehow different from Editing (9)?

No, we have 10 editors (Squirrel and Crazy are mentioned twice and I'm part of it).

The fact we are "that many" doesn't mean only few of us are busy. It is basically a general trend (and I think we have to update the staff list as well, especially that we also list contributors that aren't working all the time with us (providing their part whenever they can so to speak).

Last time I saw someone asking a random translation group that question, they answered with "Before Duke Nukem Forever comes out."

It's hilariously fitting, all things considered.

It will take one hell of a push, but I'm hoping to get the rough translation finished by the end of this month. The editing might push the release back up to two weeks or so after that, of course. And we're not making any guarantees yet.

How much Japanese do editors need to know? It was my understanding talking to you about it once that the translators are fluent but the editors are partial-speakers to be able to compare the translation to the original, in addition to standard typographical spot-checking and coherency.

We do need some editors who would be capable of doing a full translation by themselves, but not everyone needs Japanese knowledge. However, at the moment, we could use a bit more help on the Japanese side of things than the English, so the more Japanese known the better.

Things can get bogged down with too many editors, so if someone has no Japanese knowledge at all, this probably isn't the job for them at the moment.

So if progress is going along at that rate, why is the status bar on the Witch Hunt news page still at 0% for Translation and Editing?

Did you just decide that feature was more trouble than it was worth?

A bit like before, we often feel like "well, we are going to have another burst, so perhaps we should wait before updating".
And doing so repeatedly just often leaves us with a stalled number (and if you add our IRL matters etc, you can say we sometimes completely forget about the status %).

May I suggest using a random number generator that changes the % every time someone reloads the page?

I think it would be hilarious to see how long it took for people to notice it was random.

Well, it's just... it looks a little forlorn sitting there at 0%. I quite liked the "Progressing as planned" updates status idea.

I was just wondering how many chapters requiem has... Is it about the same as the last 2? And how many chapters does an Umineko novel typically contain?

The distinction is somewhat arbitrary. Some chapters are very long, some very short. Ep5 has roughly 15 chapters, a Tea Party, and a very long ???? segment. Ep4 had more, ep6 I think has more but shorter Tea Parties. Ep7 has a lot of segment breaks that I'm not sure are chapter breaks (I'd have to see the code), but could be. I would say it's a relative thing.

Are the chapters the things in the "time travel" menu?
