i am trying to find some anime that suits me.....i do like a few series but a lot of it is kinda.......soft?.......i dont like the mushy stuff......here is what i do like

Elfen Lied
Blood+
Mai Otome
Full Metal Alchemist
Suzuka (hey, it surprised me too)
and i kinda like Paradise kiss because of its oddness

Go for Gantz. In a similar vein as Elfenlied, it's definetly not a soft one.

I second basilisk

Berserk is also similar to gantz, and elfen lied, in terms of violence. This show has plenty of action, gore, and decent romance. The show is also quite addictive once you get into it.

Full metal panic and the seque, are good shows, and also you get a good fun out of watching this show.

Trinity blood, great show, i loved, its a cool vampire show, the show is done, but im sure they are going to come out with a sequel for it since the ending is incomplete.

Hellsing another good vampire show, you can either wait for the ova's to come out or watch the old one they have. Half of ova 1 came out today, so you can probably check that out. The ova follows the manga, and the 2002 series followed the manga for a little while then they got into a story of there own. I reccomend waiting for the ova episodes to come out cause the animation is great for it, where as the animation for the 2002 was decent, and a times can get really bad.

Blue Gender is a excellent show to watch, it's not that orgional since they took the idea from star ship troopers, but the show it self is just great for the character development. I maybe can guarantee you that you will get attached to the 2 main characters. they also have a very good relationship development in the show. The story is guess is used already but its still joyfull for the mecha action, and seeing some bug juice.
