Seen the chapter the truth was quite good, the others stayed behind so that Shin could get to Morpho and the fight between them was good, besides that Frederica proved to be useful in attracting Kiri's attention, and just at the crucial moment that receives Shin. . she unexpectedly helps and manages to win, although he did not expect Morpho to self-destruct.
The question remains what happened to the characters (I've seen some spoliers already so I have an idea) and it's really a shame we have to wait until March for the chapter, but we'll have to be patient.
Ask, how successful have you been in anime?, is there hope for a new season?.

Loved this episode. There's only one mothertrucker who calls in the artillery support at the most opportune moments. So so so happy that Milize's still around. I can't wait for the next ep-

I think they're a clan in the Empire of Giad known for their combat prowess. I think Shin's mental abilities comes from his moms side though.

I posted a while back in my notes, but the Nouzen Clan is effectively a warrior clan that has served as bodyguards of the Imperial Family for generations. Those of noble birth were often born with unique powers or skills, such as being able to communicate with one another from a distance. Shin’s ability is a variation of that due to his situation, but Shin and his brother are mixed bloods due to their mother (which the family was against and so their parents went to the Republic but the father softened after the kids were born). When the civil war started, the Nouzen Clan effectively sided with the Federacy and so they were allowed to keep some of their statuses as nobles, so Shin is technically nobility.

Shin's abilities come from his pyrope bloodline, as they tend to develop such abilities and the Federacy actually has a couple of them on the payroll who worked with Shin earlier during Episode 17 in the light novel as they were often recruited for reconnaissance and interrogation work since their ability gets around the jamming. The anime simply skipped showing them because it was minor.

They aren't the only bloodline that develops some form of psychic ability, but aside from Frederica none of them are relevant for this season.

I finished my review late, but the anime intentionally obstructed part of that final battle from the look of it for obvious reasons. Read at your own discretion:

Originally when Shin and the others were traversing towards the location, they realize that incendiary bombs were being fired close to them. The Legion doesn't use them often because the buildings of the Republic and Federacy aren't flammable, but since they found traces of them and know the Juggernauts can't wade through the flames easily, it was an effective method of smoking them out since the oxygen would be burned away. So Kiri erased all of their hiding spots with Skorpions.
An Amos then spotted them and they were swarmed, forcing them to plow through the weakest line as the flames carried up water vapor until it formed a soot-laden rain along the mountain road. That was when Anju got knocked down by the landslide as Frederica noticed that Kiri was aiming at someone but she couldn't tell who before the impact split them.
The Juggernauts then moved at a cruising speed ahead as they used anti-armor fire to delay the pursuing Legion, but because of the data link the Legion has they requested another unit to intercept them. And because Shin heard that, Theo made the decision to stall them since they couldn't have them interfering and he specializes in 3D maneuverability which is useless on flat ground.
Kiri intentionally hid information from the Legion when his radar detected Shin approaching before closing communications, intent on getting his fight before whittling down their numbers. The supersonic shots tossed them around and forced them to scatter, but they were still weaker than the one it fired on them before. That was because it swapped out gear.
Due to Frederica being directly linked to Kiri, she can detect his thoughts faster than Shin can hear so her warnings can reach less than a second. That allowed them to avoid being killed right off the bat as they evaded the shots directly until Kurena distracted him using buckshot and restraining shots as she got away from the group and drew the fire.
Kiri then decided to take Kurena out since she would interfere in their match. She had disappeared from his radar when she took cover, but he figured out where she had been and let loose a railgun shot. Shin tried to warn Kurena to get away, but it was too late and the shock of her unit disappearing ended up distracting them long enough for one of Undertaker's legs to get blown off and Raiden to get caught by the shrapnel with all the right legs of his units taken out. Fido's legs were also mildly damaged.
The butterflies Legion are power generators and revealed the battlefield to be where dozens of other broken guns and units were, a sign of previous conflicts.
Shin's maneuverability was really put on display, but it became clear he couldn't penetrate the explosive reactive armor of the Morpho with normal anti-tank weapons. His slipping in through whatever opening he could find was noted and that was what made Kiri acknowledge that they should attempt to capture him and put him in a commander unit, but he dismissed the notion considering how difficult it would be.
Frederica also mentions that she had seen many Nouzen who fought on the battlefield defending the Empire using her powers and even among them Shin was likely the best due to his bloodline and the years of fighting in the Eighty-Sixth District.
Kiri had Shin dead to rights when he pulled that move that destroyed his own tracks, and only Raiden using his left legs and wire anchors to climb up the hill and get in a shot created an opening for him to escape. The shot that Kiri fired in retaliation destroyed the hill he was on as the automatic tracking on the machine guns forced Shin to retreat for a moment when a new resonance entered his Para-RAID.
That new resonance was set to all units within a range, indicating that a third party with the Para-RAID had just connected. He didn't recognize the voice due to how it crackled, but he did hear the order being given for anti-armor rounds to be deployed against the Morpho. They ended up setting off the reactive armor before the voice recalibrated to speak to Undertaker as an unidentified unit and stated they would provide cover fire in order for it to close in.
They then knocked down the anti-air radar for long enough to cripple it by destroying the rest of its vulcans guns, explosive armor, and legs, creating an opening for Shin to attack. That's when Kiri unleashed the filaments to use as blades to keep fighting, even as his own voice (not Frederica) questioned why he was trying to kill one of his last remaining kinsmen.
Undertaker ended up getting tossed around and his unit was damaged as the filaments closed in from all angles. He realized that the Legion cared so much for the Morpho that they gave it every advantage, and even the voice on the other end of the Para-RAID warned Shin against touching the wires since they are coursing with electricity and would fry his unit. The voice then launched incendiary rounds in order to shut them down from exposure to high temperatures, reducing their ability to conduct electricity and making them more manageable for Shin to get in close.
The wires still came for Shin, but Shin's combat prowess allowed him to weave and cut through them since they weren't conducting electricity. He then managed to avoid a killing blow by sacrificing a blade in order to get on the Morpho's back and asked Frederica where Kiri was. Not because he didn't know but because it was her wish and she needed the resolve.
That's when she had the vision of Kiri, Shin, and his brother entered her mind. She knew it was basically what she wished could have happened, if the fact that Shin's mother being married to his father hadn't been forbidden and drove them from the Empire due to their traditions. She then resolved to tell Shin where to shoot, a maintenance hatch he could aim at.
Shin nearly gets tossed off until he used the piledriver, and Kiri intended to blow himself and Shin up with the railgun. Shin felt almost relieved that it would end that way when Frederica fired a shot into the air and then held the gun to her head as both Shin and Kiri's units locked onto her due to how they are programmed to respond to arms fire. Frederica told Kiri to stop her or else she would die there to quench his revenge, and that distracted Kiri long enough for Shin to take the shot as Fido grabbed Frederica and tossed her back inside.
The sight of Kiri's "brain" reminded Shin of how he killed his brother as Kiri called out for Frederica since he finally saw her again. Shin tells him that the dead shouldn't linger, but Kiri tells him that's true for him as well since he just tried to die with him so he has nothing left either to protect or live for. Shin briefly has a bad trip where he envisions himself being strangled and once more calling into question what he has to life for as the self-destruct trigged due to a failsafe in the event that the unit took fatal damage, in order to prevent the remains from falling into enemy hands.

Shin finally finishes off Kiriya, but not before getting one last conversation with his familial rival where Kiriya basically says Shin's a dead man walking, still looking for a place to die and to stop fighting, making him only a little more alive than a Legion

Shin tries to hold onto Kiriya's hand before the explosion happens and he's flung from the Morpho, and then all the various amount of emotional trauma and pain that he's experienced up to this point hits him. His brother attacking him, losing his brother, all the people and comrades he's lost on the battlefield as he was forced to become a "Reaper" to carry on their memory even with the weight of the guilt and self-hate he feels grew and grew to the point of consuming him...all he has left is nothing but pain and grief, having lost what little he even had left, and all he wants is for it to all finally end

.

And even when he wakes up he still seems to be in such pain, so exhausted and tired of being alive as he stretches to grab his Reaper nameplate, and then a lone Legion unit shows up and he finally just wants it to kill him and be done with it. But when it seems like that's actually going to be what happens, the Legion gets destroyed and a lone young woman walks straight towards him. The one woman who changes everything

.

I love how Lena is walking through the Legion butterflies and warding them off like some Goddess as she approaches Shin, and walking through the lycoris that heralded their parting, only for them to survive through all this and find each other again

.

Of course, they don't immediately recognize each other since Shin doesn't know what Lena looks like and at first just translates her words through the Reginlief's speech system to understand what she's saying, so to him she's just some random Republic official who somehow survived and probably isn't worth much. And it's only when she initiates the Para-RAID to talk to Shiden that he hears that voice, that beautiful voice, that he could never forget as she goes into a speech about how hard she fought to be able to be worth the faith that Spearhead put into her and proudly declares her name that Shin realizes he's talking to the one and only Vladilinea Milize, his Major

.

Of course he covers for himself and disingages the Para-RAID so she doesn't hear his voice and realize it's him (although him calling her "Major" should've been a big clue), and while he's scrambling to process the emotions he's feeling at seeing her again, Lena not only reveals that the last words he and the group left for him kept her going as she fought to reach the same place they went on ahead too, but also validates Shin's entire existence and life by saying it was worthwhile that he survived and lived. The one person Shin never thought he would see again was carried on by his words, and lived on to be able to tell him that it's a good thing that he lived. Is it any wonder Shin, for the first time in forever, smiled so genuinely and hapilly while crying tears of joy

?

And just when Shin is about to open up the cockpit and get a proper first face-to-face reunion with Lena, the Legion immediately interrupt to ruin the mood and get everyone geared up for a fight...but luckily reinforcements arrive to save the day and back Shin up, with the added benefit of the rest of the team including Fido having survived and made it through as well. So not only did Shin finally find Lena again, but his comrades actually survived this time around

.

What a difference it would've made if Lena had known what Shin's personal mark looks like

.

You gotta love how this random new military waltzes in and Lena just hands them her gun like it's nothing, against Shiden's complaints, and just goes with them back to the Gran Mur. And then she waves and smiles at Shin, still not knowing it's him, as she flies off. It's so perfect

.

Ernst still best dad calling his son and making sure he's okay...and letting Frederica know how much trouble she's in

.

Shin has struggled to find a reason to keep going, a reason to fight, and a reason to keep himself from dying...but wanting to see Lena, not on a battlefield, but at a place where a queen like her deserves has finally given him the glimmer of something genuine to strive toward in his long and difficult life. And with Lena in his heart, Shin finds his new resolve and reaches towards her in the sky

.

Shin just walks in to give his report and it turns out Grethe's been playing them the entire audio recording of Shin and Lena's conversation and just leaves the room so he has to endure all the teasing for his intimate heart-to-heart with the girl he thought he'd lost. I also love Kurena crying over Lena being alive

.

Not even 30 minutes and Lena has already won Best Girl of 2022 in my book with just words and a piece of paper.

Edit: A lot of changes from the Light Novel, but might have been for the best. It sacrificed more Frederica moments for a more dramatic impact.

I don't know how many did overall, but the Nouzen Clan is one of the most influential clans, even with the Empire becoming the Federacy. Anime kind of skipped the whole bit about the different ethnicities outside the Alba, but less is more. Too many other things going on to go into the details of different eye and hair color types. Not going into the details of different ethnicities is fine, most of it doesn't really matter in the end. People with Red eyes have special psychic abilities and while the anime skipped showing other intelligence psychics, there are many of them in the Federacy.

So not only did Shin finally find Lena again, but his comrades actually survived this time around . What a difference it would've made if Lena had known what Shin's personal mark looks like . You gotta love how this random new military waltzes in and Lena just hands them her gun like it's nothing, against Shiden's complaints, and just goes with them back to the Gran Mur. And then she waves and smiles at Shin, still not knowing it's him, as she flies off. It's so perfect . Ernst still best dad calling his son and making sure he's okay...and letting Frederica know how much trouble she's in . Shin has struggled to find a reason to keep going, a reason to fight, and a reason to keep himself from dying...but wanting to see Lena, not on a battlefield, but at a place where a queen like her deserves has finally given him the glimmer of something genuine to strive toward in his long and difficult life. And with Lena in his heart, Shin finds his new resolve and reaches towards her in the sky . Shin just walks in to give his report and it turns out Grethe's been playing them the entire audio recording of Shin and Lena's conversation and just leaves the room so he has to endure all the teasing for his intimate heart-to-heart with the girl he thought he'd lost. I also love Kurena crying over Lena being alive . __________________

Edit: A lot of changes from the Light Novel, but might have been for the best.
