Supposedly all possible answers should be located by search key and identified by appearance. So going with that idea:

[Wherever you are] can possibly mean

• URL location of trace start is irrelevant; which may in turn mean it's a common navigation aid (forum breadcrumbs, wiki nav links)
• inferring to page source (no idea how to pick a URL from that one; pattern for source also varies with browsers). Matches appearance.

[attempt to go up by going down] can possibly mean

• "down" as in "death" or "logout" meaning, you logout and hence would go up as in the main page (matches appearance)
• up / down can be both one level up or simply up, it can also be reverse as in up is actually down in the case of descending order; hence attempt to go up by going down, as in up the stack, but literally you are actually going down.
• if interpreting as direct treasure map sintructions:
  • [by Haak] the "retired series" forum, if treated as a reference to the forum
  • the #top link
  • the archives
• [milan kyuubi] down as in a process or sub-domain (eg. http://test.animesuki.com/)

Going with "down" as definite key word, we should probably cross out all possible alternative meanings: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/down (damn, so many!)

Go Up (as in site wise) by going Down (ie. anywhere on the forum). There's nobody there to greet you (as in it's beta) and everything is unprepared (as in, still needs work; because it's not finished).


Is that sufficient NW? BTW, when I go there it does say "Welcome, felix!" to me, but I figure that doesn't count.

Pretty much.

"Wherever you are" -- Almost every page on the forum has the link.
"you may attempt to go up" -- You're trying to go "up" from the sub-domain (forums) to the top level domain (animesuki.com), if you go by the text of the link.
"by going down." -- bottom of the page.
"But you'll find" -- The page you get to isn't exactly what was promised by the text.
"all unprepared" -- This was my rewording from the original, but means the same thing... a place "not yet ready".
"and no one to greet you." -- The original riddle said "no maiden to greet you", but the author felt it would have been too easy, and I agreed. Rather than completely remove the detail Kairin replaced it with the royal "one"; she is the maiden after all. Note "no" and "one" are two separate words, rather than a general "nobody". The resulting wording was a little awkward and deliberately ambiguous.

Another try on the first riddle.

'The princess then took a break, and a week later she
once again marched to fight' -> Might this paragraph play a part in the riddle? She defeats 0 in this case.

If the king is as strong as the kingdom then you'd get.

first kingdom: 5-1 (princess) - 3 (enemies) = 1
second kindom: 7-1-5= 1
break: 0
third kingdom: 9-1-5=3
fourth kingdom: 13-1= 12 -> (more than 5 survive) -> max 6 killed
fifth kingdom: 11-1-10= 0

We know it's a "villager". And he met the drunk once; so why not at a bar? Just like we're meeting the guy at the moment. So Ero-Senn1n's location "Hidden Village of Sake" sounds plausible.
