Well sure I guess I'll have to take your word for it, though being on the opposite end of the bullying doesn't really strike me as fun...

While quite a looker, she wasn't well liked back then. And I don't like it when my friends get bullied.

Well, the reverse GJ-bu scenario would be like an Otome game, only with an extra-spineless, Super Beta Otome Protagonist. At which point, there'd be accusation that she's a chauvinistic portrayal of woman.

Spoiler for Otome Comparison:

More seriously speaking, I really think Harem leads should design their characters with a more Shojouish slant, by first taking an acceptably strong Otome or Shoujo lead (the kind that are in the vogue today) and then extracting those characterizations and adjusting it for a generic male. at which point, the male would stop being generic... and

Well, to be honest, do shows with Generic Male Protagonist actually become big hits? I'm getting the impression that there are many badly selling animes with very generic, passive male Protagonists, so I wonder whether the argument: Producers keep portraying such protagonist because they sell to the Otaku crowd is really all that valid, once you actually look at sales and popularity.

... I think I can feel you there. I'm not the gentlest guy out there when that happens to mine as well. And when I mean gentle, I also mean it physically. I'll stop there.

... I wonder if passive protagonists are actually created so we can feel like we want to become the more reliable bro of bros for them? At least I feel that way a lot towards a lot of MCs I've seen. (Might appear as a death flag for some series, but I defy them a lot. )

And yeah, I have a strong feeling of wanting to become Kyoro's bro for some odd reason.

Agree with that, although I'll take Tifa any day.

Maids do have a certain something to be desired.

GJ Bu 05 - Yes, Mao, There is a Santa Claus

Major props to the translators here. Managing to do an entire segment about first-person pronouns, something that the English language simply doesn't have in the same way Japan does, and to convey it without using translator's notes or the Japanese words themselves, takes a lot of skill. It let Shimono channel a slightly more hotblooded kind of voice, too.

What was Mao expecting to receive with a stocking of that size? An entire piano? Every time the subject of Santa is brought up in anime, he ends up being real or everyone's too old to stop believing, so the way it was handled for Mao was something I haven't seen all that often in anime. Covering Christmas and Valentine's in one episode was unexpected. But at the same time, sort of expected from the 4-koma LN format.

Kirara's ED reminds me of what happened with Mikoi Sasaki over in Milky Holmes. Their character voices are taciturn and quiet, barely above a whisper, but when it comes time to sing, they belt out in a way that it's hard to believe their singing voice and speaking voice are the same. (Kirara's VA is also one of the singers of the OP. Which, of all the OPs this season, probably has the biggest disconnect between lyrics and show.)

I'm liking the mini-mini story playing out at the end of all the episodes, too.

Next week: In a season full of notable anime little sisters, the sister roster gets bumped up +4.

Kyoro has a future in Hair styling; apparently girls love it when he do their hair.

The second skit with Mao forcing Kyoro to speak in a more manly, commanding tone towards the girls was surprisingly tamed (meaning no cruel tease) and in fact actually made him seem almost like a Vertebrate.

The kotatsu talk with Shion was pretty nice but it didn't really change much.

Mao apparently won some kind of lottery in this episode since she got to be carried by Kyoro bridal style, and has claimed his lap as her permanent kotatsu location.

Meido-san makes a return for Valentine's day! Or at least what little of it there is.... >_>

P.S - Oh yeah, new ED with Kirara, it's good but not as good as Shion's.

The 5th episode was nice. I hope that the rest will be like the ones that aired already.

I was thinking of 3 from the OP, but I can't see who's the fourth. Maybe I missed something...
