I wish the translations hadn't stopped once this got licensed. I understand that they stopped BECAUSE it got licensed and I respect that, but now I'll never be able to have back-up copies of my physical books on my hard drive. Same thing goes for Haruhi and Zetsubou Sensei.

I have OCD when it comes to this sort of thing.

So, I’m reading the Matsuribayashi-hen VN and decided to flip through the RAWs of the manga to see how some of the awesome scenes the anime skipped were portrayed. As I’m reading along, I noticed a certain familiar face among the Yamainu fighting against the club members on the mountain…I thought it might be a coincidence at first until I realized it wasn’t just his appearance, but his name as well. Remember the Yamainu who goes head-to-head with Satoko, Hibari 13? Yeah, the artist of the manga decided to make this guy a certain bodyguard from Higurashi’s sister series, Umineko…Amakusa Juuza (Juuza = 十三 = 13 in a similar kind of wordplay as Takano’s name).

Considering Amakusa’s past military history included working for the Self-Defense Force and he’s loyal to Okonogi (who is also in Umineko), I thought this was absolutely brilliant of the manga artist and adds some nice - and very plausible - backstory to the character. I couldn’t resist my desire to translate these pages, since the Matsuribayashi-hen scanlation project will probably never be finished, AND the official English releases aren’t even this far yet. This is from Vol. 7 of the manga, during the battle between the club members and the Yamainu on the mountain.

Since I can’t read kanji, the way I’m doing this is to read the furigana and romanize how the sentence is read. Then, I punch those words into Tangorin and find the ones that match the kanji in the panels. Then it’s a combination of Google Translate, my memory of the way the scene played out in the VN, and common sense of the English language to put it all together. So, forgive me if the translation isn’t perfect - I just thought this was an interesting scene that both Higurashi and Umineko fans would appreciate, and wanted to share.

Well i've searched for very long but had no results so i'll have to ask here.

Is the translation of Kokoroiyashi-hen manga already out? I think someone here in animesuki said it was on progress but until now i can't find anything.

If it is not yet, is there someone willing to translate it? All i found was the RAWs so if anyone is going to translate it, i would be glad to help editing.

Unfortunately, Kokoroyashi isn't translated.

The new manga volume is out now (Matsuribayashi, vol. 2) and I'd like to ask all of you who know it what do you think about it. I was surprised that there were more changes to the story than in any other volume.

Spoiler for Festival Accompanying Arc Vol. 2 Manga:

The gory details about Rika's mother were too much for me because I like this character very much and I was already sad just to hear that Takano kills her by dissecting her alive. But the cruel depiction in the manga, with Takano don't using any anaesthesia, was quite over the top. I think it doesn't make much sense except for cranking up the gore and making Takano even more abominable. With this in mind, it will be very hard to accept her being saved in the end because this murder has nothing to do with her scientific aims, it's just an act of mindless psycho killing. When it comes to Higurashi, I can get upset about these things far more than appropriate for something which is only fiction, because I really like the characters. Takano should be more pitiable than shown in this gory scene. I'm losing my compassion for her when looking at that.

I also liked it better when Koizumi's death followed the third year's curse straightaway, not like in the manga where there's a year between the events. Maybe that makes the Nomura event fit better in the timeline, but in the anime and the sound novel the order of events felt better somehow.

Another change: Irie plans to run away with Satoko. Irie is given much importance in the manga and he's not as passive as in the sound novel. I was surprised that Rika declared they might open her head to find a cure for Satoko and that her parents gave consent to that operation, while in the sound novel it's only her cerebrospinal fluid. It's not really believable I think, but nevertheless it's interesting that there are some changes in these volume.

I had hoped that the manga would contain more about Rena's background, but there are just three or four pages. There's even more in the anime, for example Rena visiting her new neighbours and coming up with her new name. Rena's conversation with Satoshi about the footsteps is also left out, I really like that in the sound novel.

the footsteps was one of the most chilling part in the anime! it really painted a scary picture aside from the violence and killing which were really scary!

As far as I know, here there was someone who was making the scans, but I hadn't heard anything about that for a while. In case, wait for someone else to tell us news about it.
As alternative, you might try to look for the magazine where they had published it (Big Gangan)

I mean, I think you can't ask a specific manga or chapter. But try download all the book and take what you want among there.
