What? They reduced the time to Takao's delusions? Oh wow, ruined, definitely ruined!
*shakes fist at production* In all seriousness though I'm worried at what was taken out, as it has a HUGE bearing on the battle to come, as well as the strategy to transport the blueprints to the US. Spoiler for Comparison:

Fine, fine. Can we all agree that the anime is a travesty and ruined forever and get it outta the way for this week?
There is nothing wrong with a critical examination of the merits and flaws of a work, but last week was ridiculous- almost the whole week was taken up with complaints about the anime. About the only worthwhile discussion that got done was trying to figure out how screwed the nations of the world are.

Unless you're all still talking about manga spoiler material here in the anime thread. Why don't we wait patiently and see what comes of it, instead of just assuming it's ruined forever?

So being overly negative about it is , sadly, not without reason. Atm for example it appears as if at least two characters got cut out entirely, which would be extremely dumb as said characters are important for the story.

Now time to wait for next episode's preview... and hope we get some things right. In the best assumptions of right.

Eh? It's not that bad an episode, and there I thought it was much worse after reading the comments here but it turned out to be quite enjoyable. Sure all the left out bits are very important but I will keep some faith in the production team this time. They managed to adapt the first battle well enough so there's a chance they can do the same this time (though it's much tougher)?
I actually like the dialogues in this episode, especially the slice of life-ish ones. Normally fillers like those are unnecessary and have no contribution to the main story but the fillers here give the characters depth and don't make they look dumb. Ryoukan was portrayed very well too, and it was easier to grasp his character, while in the manga it took quite a few chapters to see through his motives and the conflict he has with Kamikage. My only gripe here is things are moving a bit too fast. They should have made this episode into 2. I really hoped they animated the part where Iona had to evade Haruna and Kirishima to get back to Gunzou, but that's what we get for sacrificing Hakugei... That aside, seeing how things go at this pace I'm a bit worried they will try to cramp as many battles as they can, leaving no possibility for a season 2... Btw anyone noticed the OP was changed slightly this week? |

Is it wrong that despite the changes to the manga, I'm still actually enjoying the anime? Not everything has to be compared to the source material, and I'd rather enjoy the anime by its own merits, while taking occasional references to the manga.
And oh Takao, never change.

Yep. It was interesting. I saw some quick flashes of scenes from this week's episode, and others that went by too quick for me to recognize. Also the stuff immediately after the ship-data segment was different. I wonder if it will change every week.

This isn't wrong, but again, said missing thing figures importantly later on. It really seems like the production is REALLY are working under the assumption that this will be it, and there won't be any follow-up anime series. See the decision to give all of Yamato's lines to Kongou instead.

Sanzigen is doing a great job slowly adding more emotions to Iona, now she has other kind of facial expressions in addition to ther usual poker face. And also Iona belly fanservice! Manga had some instances of that were missing till now.
As for the storyline, a quite important element was ommited and since that element affects directly the result of the upcoming battle...I have no idea what will happen next. |

I tried looking for a very certain keyword in this thread before actually mentioning it which is "tea." Yep, these scenes. That was one of the things that got me curious... and considering the series subtitle and source material, I think we should really be much more wary of more deviations to come.

Another good episode. I'm liking the show more with each passing episode.
On a side note, I love the main tune that comes on during battles. It reminds me somewhat of the music in the Final Fantasy series (especially music from FF XIII/FF XIII-2). |
