At Tokyo International Anime Fair 2008, the Madhouse studio has presented the first public image for Yume-Miru Kikai (The Dreaming Machine), the next theatrical anime film from director Satoshi Kon (Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers, Perfect Blue). According to the studio, the title will be "animation that children can enjoy." Kon first hinted in interviews last April that his next film will be "a future folklore story" for children.

Does anyone remember the ending of "Paprika"? You know, the one where Akio Ohtsuka's character stands in this mall space full of cinemas and he passes them by and sees a theater showing Kon's Millenium Actress and Perfect Blue and his other films.
And then there was this poster for a movie "Dreaming Children" (or something to that effects) with a boy and a girl holding hands. When I saw Paprika, I thought: "Is this going to be Kon's next film?"
I see I wasn't completely off the mark. 8)
