Cause, y'know, every series is going to be exactly the same, and an author can't decide to change things up or correct a mistake at all.

It's had one chapter so far, which was entirely to set up the premise of the story. Give it a chance to do something at least.

It already did something. It established that there are no other human males besides Granz Florian exist in Innocent.

Lyco,, stop. The only thing it shows so far is that:
1. THis is about a card game.
2. There's a large numbers of females.
That's it. There are other males that exist in there, like the store clerks that Amy almost ran over.

Silly Lycodrake....

Reason why there aren't many males in the story is simple:
Not interested in game....

I think the card game is only popular among the female... Since it is popular among the girls, boys actively avoid the game.

You know how boys are...
If a boy is caught playing such "girly" game....
His manliness will be questioned.
He will be teased and bullied.

Males are probably busy playing manly card game such as Yu-gi-oh! or Card-Fighter Vanguard

Because, they are very manly card game!

I'd play that 'girly' game.

What evidence is there that Brave Duel is a "girly" game?

Well, it's more like MST3K mantra than anything, It's better than to flat out accept that "the writer don't like writing/drawing male character because they interfere with the yuri shipping there's never enough room for eyecandy for mostly male fanbase"

Though, I'll still give a chance for 3 or 4 chapter ahead, Dog Days taught me to think against prejudice.

(But if Lyco was right all along, well...)

Or isn't it because they are just in the way of the male gaze to look at the creamy thighs?

That is one of the many reason why some guys choose to play as female character.

I guess all those male characters in Force don't count, eh.

That's not sure yet. In the promo were shown lots of character cards. Also, as far as it was shown seems only the little girls or pre-teens are involved in this with the adult characters playin supporting roles (Signum and Shamal seems to be clerks of the game shop rather than proper players yet i saw a "Signum Card" on the promotional art). Until the rules get fully disclosed we can't take anyting for granted.

If I'm right, you may all know that I called it here.
If I'm wrong, I will be pleasantly surprised.

*raises hand* I don't play as a female character. I RP'd once, but it was a PMMM-verse RP.
I made a Tayuya expy.

Aside from it being advertised by girls, accessible only in shops mostly run by girls and the transforming you into a VR magical girl?

From an outsider's perspective, this would be sailor moon: The game. Boys might like it, and they may even want to play it, but aside from a few otaku most boys that age wouldn't be caught dead anywhere near such a store.

I have to disagree, given that we're only seeing 3 groups of players so far, and a loner.
If they are the only ones playing, then it's either inaccessible for most people (read: not advertised well, really expensive), or this series is going to suck.
To say the least.

[edit] And what proof do we have that the player only transforms into a VR magical girl?

To be more specific, this is a brand-spanking new game here. What we saw Vita, Fate and Dearche do was the final test before the game goes live.

In other words, aside from the people that are involved in the project, there are no players yet.

Still doesn't answer my question.

There is none, but my point was not what the facts were, but how the game would be perceived by the boys. The boys see a game surrounded by girls on all sides, and girls transforming into magical girls. Common boy instinct says "this is cool... but my friends are going to call me a wuss/creepy otaku if they so much as spot me anywhere near this store."
