It is a BAR - I thought it was a funky outsized FN FAL (maybe some model I've never seen before), but someone in the other thread confirmed for me it's a BAR. Part of the reason why it looks weird is hers is missing the bipod in the front. Either way, Gretel's a monster to be able to use it like that.

I actually thought they fit in pretty well also, they bring a different character to the show, but Roberta did that also - it's part of what makes them unique.

Thanks to all the people who pointed out it's a BAR - I think part of my problem in recognizing it was that I've never seen one with the bipod removed.

Also, if you think about it like this - You have the crazy maid from hell, the female chinese sword master with a bad attitude, then to top it all of, you get two twin vampire children who well.. can't be summed up into just only a few words. :3

& then you have Revy - who doesn't need anything saying about her.

They all fit in perfectly, & who knows who else can be added to that list once the show is over.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. Each arc has had a distinct character to it - it was honestly one of my favorite parts of the show in the first season. While it's mostly just a straight action show, they do a good job of varying the tempo and feel of each arc so it doesn't become boring. Also they get major bonus points for inhabiting the real world (for the most part).

Actually I was thinking of just keeping it level, but that's a good point as well.

I like how most of Black Lagoon goes for a gritty, at least Hollywood-level of realism, but any character who looks like an anime archetype gets to play by anime rules. Roberta and Gretel both just ignore recoil force and never have to reload while there are targets available.

Thumbs up Holy F***ing Cripplers!!!!!

I had the chance to watch ep. 13 of 'BL' last night. All I can say is MY GAWD this is some TWISTED S**T!!! Talk about your frigging vampiric, incest loving, necrophiliac, killer loli-shotas!!! ARGGGGH!!!

Yes, we got a taste this week, but the S**T hits the fan next week.
If I'm not mistaken it seemed this episode's order jumped around telling the story from different perspectives until you pieced it all together. If I'm wrong let me know. I'll have to watch it again. But next episode some crazy stuff is going down as the bar will get blown to hell again.

Those kids man, "yeah we don't like getting yelled at and hit, but we like hitting and killing your ass too."

I'm curious to know who the leash holder is of these two darling children. And I don't even want to think about where 'Gretel' was thinking about putting whatever she was asking about where. If I'm wrong in my assumption it's because anime has corrupted my brain.

And this was the first we get to see 'Balalaika' pissed off. Of course she looks even more scary in the manga. Don't think I would ever want to meet them in the manga. Not even in broad daylight.

You gotta love the world of 'Black Lagoon' where insulting someone on a regular basis is a formal way of saying hello provided you got the skills to back it up.

I thought it was pretty funny that she didn't help her bro carry that mafioso to the car because "ladies shouldn't carry heavy things", then proceeds to light up the pub with her massive BAR...

Your assumption is entirely correct.
Therefore, we'll conclude that your brain was corrupted to begin with!

Hahahaha!!! Whoo, I was worried for a second.

Oh yeah, what is the air dates for the series again?

I think they need to merge this thread with the one for 'Second Barrage' like what they did with 'HiME' and 'Otome'. This way you're not jumping back and forth between the two threads. I had to literally do a double take just to figure out where my last post was. I didn't know whether to post ep. 13 in 'BL' or 'BL:SB'. After all if the first half of the series is in the licensed section, then second 2 is nothing more than a continuation of the first. So that makes it licensed for those that don't know. The two threads should be merged.

Well, there are 16 diffrent stations airing this series through out Japan, on diffrent dates.

The earliest is Sendai, early Tuesday 2:00 AM. (far North of Tokyo)
Kyuushuu Asashi is 30min later, (The Western edge of Japan).
Tokyo/Chiba area doesn't get it till Saturday and Sunday of the same week.

All Japan time (GMT+9 hours) of course.

Btw, here's a pic that used to be on the Black Lagoon creator's site.

Oh, and I agree about merging the threads.

Ahh!

I remember seeing that on the site. That's a lot of stations. And of course it's on the late block.

Hold on, the twins are girls? Or is it supposed to be a girl and a boy in the anime? Or a girl playing a boy? Cute...picture...confusing...me...

By creator´s site, you mean Rei Hiroe?

Could you link me?

Nice picture by the way, i always thought them to be "cannonly" blonde but it looks like they actually have grey/white hair.

His site is here
http://www.din.or.jp/~redbear/

TEX-MEX is his doujin circle name.
He's done adult doujin of Gun Parade March, Soul Calibur, and more.

btw, on one of the Sunday GX magazine which serializes Black Lagoon
came with this mock-up cover for Black Lagoon

Shoujo-Manga style Black Lagoon, drawn by Hiroe himself!

"Rebecca is a student in Loa-Napra girls academy.
Born in poverty, she's a rough-tough girl that lived through her life
using her brute strength. Her tatoo is her pride.
School president hired her for her strength, to bodyguard the
exchange student from Russia, Bararaika.
However, Bararaika's father was an ex-top spy of former Soviet Union,
and Spies all around the world were after his daughter's life!
Assassins attack one after another... and in the meanwhile,
depite the fact that Bararaika living in a upper class than her,
Rebecca started to grow strong afffections towards her.
Forbidden Love story of heartwarming violence comedy is here!"

That's what it says on the side-note of the cover

They both have breasts.
But the one on the left has... well, look at the crotch.
That's all I have to say.

That...

is...

F***ING AWESOME!!!!

Now, I would love to see this!!! This guy is a genius!!!

I think I've heard of that name 'TEX-MEX'. I'll check out his site. Chances are if he's got anything old hanging around it might give me a clue as to whether I've seen the work before. You find the more times you visit Japanese fansites the more times you come across the artist over again when you see something familiar and then a lightbulb goes off in your head saying, "I've seen this somewhere before."
