In regards to Nyaruko's appearance, I've come across a posting from another discussion on a side of the web citing a passage from the novel which mentioned that Nayaruko spent a long of time thinking up the current look in order to appeal to Mahiro.

This hints her more towards her root of the original mythos as a whimsical shapeshifter whose apperances differs from tale to tale. But then, we have no obligation to trust the words of an avatar of chaos.

IMO Kuko is not even a lesbian since she keeps saying she wants to make babies with Nyaruko-san (which basicaly replies "I don't want to" instead of "That is imposible!"). If you think it for a moment, Nyaruko is quite bold, strong, reliable and caring (I cannot emphasize that one enough, if she did not care for Mahiro he would be her personal toy by now) plus she can make babies, what else do women want?

So it makes sense Kuko would not mind Mahiro as a side dish (or dessert).

Most shapeshifters seem to exist in a Hammerspace of their own.

Like Claymore's monsters that can go from slender female to city-towering tentacle monster within seconds.

We see Nyaruko's onii-san do the same trick, pulling body mass out of nowhere and growing tenfold.

So with a natural talent like that, there could be room for an extra crowbar, grenade or chainsaw.

I don't know how Kuuko does it though.

What is her original form according to Lovecraft anyway? Just fire?
