Or does the PM's sense of honour and courtesy compel him to regard ZaShunina's original wish for the wam? That's the best explanation I can come up with, but a very big thing for the writers to take for granted. And implies that Japanese politicians are a completely different species from any other kind. To be fair, the wisdom of the wam release may well be discussed heavily in the next episode. But when all the PM's screentime so far has failed to show him as a normally reasoning human, let alone a great statesman, my faith that the writers can portray the implications of their ideas through the characters is not high. Shindo is technically unemployed so his working for weeks probably doesn't violate any labor laws and Tsukai's reactions are quickly becoming the show's source of comedy. When she demanded Shindo take a break and it cut to a shopping district, I feared the worst and thought the show was gonna force a date between them. Fortunately, the show gave us Shindo's mom instead and gave us some much needed downtime. A quick cut to a colorful array of origami in a case tells us this woman's probably his mother. A spectacle of Kado rolling on its vertices later, zaShunina reveals phase 2 of his master plan, no sleep, which was foreshadowed quite well in this episode as well as previous ones and something I think we can all get behind. The effects?
1. Bye bye, Starbucks and coffee. 2. Labor laws will probably be unaffected as they demand breaks and not sleep. 3. Huge levels of productivity. 4. People are gonna need to find a night hobby. Maybe stargazing?

I wonder about the exact nature of this gift. Does it mean no mental fatigue?

I knew that zaShunina definitely has more toys lined up for humanity, but I believed that it will be a method to discharge an energy provided by previously offered wam. I didn't see a new brain coming.
I'm not sure what that last scene tried to imply. Did zaShunina show Shindo a hologram of his modified brain ? Or did he actually replace his brain ? I'm prone to the latter. But I would be surprised if there was no medical check up for Shindo and other passengers who was processed by Kado. So who know ? In any case, This topic is even more sensitive than the last one. No matter how superior this modification might be, can us, humanity, accept our body being altered/replaced/rebuilt ? Not to mention that zaShunina has already modified Shindo and other 251 people body without their consent. There is going to be a huge uproar. Most importantly, zaShunina still withhold the most crucial piece of information. Why the heck would he want humanity to advance ? Right now ? I think it is about time the rest of the world pushing for that answer. In fact, they should have done it right after zaShunina offered humanity wam.

So, here's the answer to Shindou's weird behavior around Zashunina - he's weirdly close to Zashunina because without his knowledge and consent he's developed an unnaturally strong affinity to him. Huh. That must have been pretty disturbing to find out (Shindou handed it fairly well). And it was just a setup to the reveal in the end.
I wonder if Zashunina's idea of advancement of mankind involves basically giving us what we want on the surface, so to speak (whether we actually really want it on an individual level or not) to rid us of our wants and needs that hold us back? Limitless energy - sure! Needing less rest so we can be more productive - but of course! What's next - taking away hunger and thirst? (I swear if he starts going around healing the sick...) Also, there's the matter of Zashunina himself getting more human, seemingly adapting more and more to our universe... (or at least humans as such) |

Limitless energy...and now no need to sleep...am I the only one thinking this combination is a disaster in the making? Imagine how destructive human can be when they're bored and have no need for down time.
Unless he eliminates the need for housing, material needs, waste...then limitless energy and no sleep means a greater disaster for the planet. Also, the main factor Zashu fails to account for so far is human nature. I'm curious to see if the series will address that...or maybe all these "gifts" will be a means to address the human nature.

It's more likely he will remove the need for reproduction rather than porn, and they touched on reproduction this episode
Energy provides the root of life activity, so want would be the point of not sleeping? I think just like wam, all it takes is certain sense with Ihou rather than some surgery. |

So, there is a reason as to why the scientist girl has that cartoonish personality..lol. The episode also answered my questions regarding the process of making wam. I thought that if only the shape matters then why no one accidentally ever made an homemade wam? Both the childish mind and a perfect/exact shape is needed. It's actually very hard to make them. Those were some nice details imo.
About the no sleep thing, that would be amazing. People would have much more time for entertainment or to actually work on stuff they like. Not sure how would the mind react since we are used to sleep so many hours during our lives |

Even if you could eliminate the need for sleep, being awake during the night would disturb the circadian rhythm and cause symptoms, but judging from Shindo it looks like zaShunina's method fixes that.

Anyhow, I wonder how that kind of modification, such as to remove the sleeping needs, since it works on cerebral level, will make humans more open to the anisotropic. That would let more humans build the wams. Certainly removing sleep time would also come close to double the global energy consumption. I don't know, I can't get away from this imagery of the world as a balloon inflated of energy. This addition will just give a boost to it. And once the world will be energy saturated by no sleeping humans ... what a big bang

Watched the latest episode yesterday, and I see ZaShu has more new toys to unveil, and that making a wam is more difficult than it appeared last episode. I have seen some commentary about people starting to think less of Kanata, the hyperactive meganekko physicist. Personally, I'd say she still has the same charm that attached me to her in the first episode, but that is just my personal preference.
As for ZaShu, with all these new technologies he's handing out to radically change the world so drastically, I can't help wondering if he has some alterior motive- I mean, we still know next to nothing about him or rest of the anisotropic world, not even if there are any other anisotropic beings like him for that matter. |

Fuck. It's a recap episode and they even gave it its own title. Good news is that we still get a preview for the next episode. We're getting a new character, a festival scenario with Tsukai in a kimono and zaShunina participating in disguise.
