No word on the Bluray release?

Really hope this will be subbed like their newer Gundam and Nunnally in Wonderland releases. -___-

Well, it should be since Code Geass is still popular. Would be strange if Nunnally in Wonderland got a blu-ray release but not Akito which is actually following CG more closely and isn't just a make believe story tale Lelouch tells Nunnally.

New Akito Worldview Column out, and this time it's on the Knightmares of the EU. (Unfortunately, the Gardmare is not mentioned here.)

Quote:
Column 3: "Knightmares of the European Union"

The main force Knightmare Frame of the EU army is the Panzer-Hummel. There is some distress within the EU army at having to designate this machine as a Knightmare Frame, when properly speaking it isn’t classified as a Knightmare frame. There are also said to be soldiers in the Britannian army who call the Panzer-Hummel a “pseudo-Knightmare Frame”.

The Knightmare Frame, a humanoid weapon developed by the Holy Britannian Empire and used in the invasion of Japan, had a big impact on the military-related people of the world with its ability and general-purpose height. Afterwards, the Panzer-Hummel was developed by the EU army with the aim of creating Knightmare Frames. However, the Panzer-Hummel, with its inferior performance, wasn’t a good rival for Knightmare Frames when facing them on the battlefield. Particularly inferior in terms of mobility, the Panzer-Hummel could not do a thing against Knightmare Frames that closed the distance between them at high speeds.

In such a situation, there is the state of the art and special tactical frame “Alexander”, deployed by the secret W-0 unit.

The details of the Alexander’s development team are said to be secret, but it is said that it was developed by Anna Clement, a member of the W-0 squadron, at her family’s factory.

The Alexander’s greatest features are its completely human silhouette, made with the assumption of anti-Knightmare combat, and its mobility, which is incomparable to the Panzer-Hummel’s. Also, the Alexander is equipped with original-conceived features that differ from the Knightmare Frame development history of the Holy Britannian Empire and the Knightmare development team of the Militarized Zone of India which derives from them, and is a unique frame that could be called a “fruitless flower” in the history of Knightmare development.

(Note: “Fruitless flower”, or adabana, essentially means that it is a one-of-a-kind model whose design was not used in later Knightmare development, unlike the Guren and Lancelot.)

Lots of background info to justify the Alexander's existence. Why would they suicide bomb with such expensive hardware?

Will we see Akito getting an upgrade?

Bad leadership, I would guess. (All the info points to the W-0's commander Anou being incompetent, so it isn't that unexpected. The better question is why they let him command in the first place. )

As for an upgrade, they will probably be one in the latter episodes, but I doubt it will be anything more than a "weapons/armor" upgrade, instead of a full-blown refurbishment of the Alexander itself.

I'm sure some theatergoer will upload a camrip. Finding it will be the hard part. xD

As for the rest of the fanbase will have to wait until the Bluray comes out.

The Akito website has been updated with a background summary of Akito the Exiled in the form of "three points". (It's a red rectangle on the lower half of the main Akito page, which opens a window with the three points and a video that goes with them.):

Quote:
Point 1:
The time is between “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion” and “R2”.
The Black Rebellion in Japan has failed, and the Black Knights have been crushed. Lelouch (Zero) has been captured by Suzaku. The story starts from early spring in 2017 a.t.b. (Revolutionary Year 228).

Point 2:
The stage is the European Union (E.U.).
Caught between the Holy Britannian Empire, the largest nation in the world, and the Chinese Federation, which controls Asia, the E.U. is a democratic nation that is showing signs of collapse. They are in a state of war with the Britannian Empire, and their territory is gradually being reduced.

Point 3:
The main character is Akito Hyuuga. A Japanese boy born and raised in the EU.
Because Japan became Area 11, a province of the Britannian Empire, he received discriminatory treatment as an Eleven of a hostile foreign nation. He joins the W-0 unit which gathers Elevens and becomes the pilot of the Alexander.
Most of it is stuff we already know, but it's nice to have a confirmation of that this story takes place AFTER the Black Rebellion.

However, I can't view the video that goes with it in my region. Can anyone else watch it?

New images and info on the Alexander from Hobby Japan Magazine! It basically gives all the specs of the frame.

Spoiler for Hobby Japan images:

And here are translations of the text from the first page:

Quote:
W0X Type-01
Alexander (Akito unit)

A special-ops frame developed by the European Union army. Compared to the Holy Britannian Empire and the Black Knights, the E.U. was falling behind in the KMF development competition, but then the Alexander, a machine possessing high-specs in a sudden mutation in development, appeared, which depended largely on original technology introduced by the frame’s designer, Captain Anna Clement. Due to its “Insect Mode” transformation mechanism, light-weight body and high-performance frame, it can display great mobility.

Height: 4.39m
Weight: 6.73t
Armaments:
-WAW-04 30mm Linear Assault Rifle “Judgement”
-(固定武装ウルナエッジ) Fixed “Uruna Edge” (Not sure if "Uruna" is proper spelling in English)
-Anti-Knightmare-use Tonfas

Uruna Edge:
A knife-shaped weapon built into the arm shaft of the Alexander. It possesses enough piercing strength to go through the armor of a Knightmare Frame.

Tonfa:
A peculiarly-shaped anti-Knightmare-use Tonfa that is equipped to the arm of the Alexander.

WAW-04 30mm Linear Assault Rifle “Judgement”:
A 30mm Linear Assault Rifle, an armament commonly used by the Alexander. It’s possible for it to be used either suspended by the sub-arms on both sides of the cockpit or by detaching it from the sub-arms and holding it by hand.

Cockpit Block:
The cockpit block is on its back, but it isn’t equipped with a cockpit ejection system. Because the actual battlefield forces of the E.U.’s special-ops unit “W-0”, the former Japanese (Elevens), aren’t counted as a loss in fighting strength even if they are killed in battle.
An interesting design here. I can't wait to learn more about this "Insect Mode".

So it does takes place after the First Black Knight Rebellion. This could get interesting. We get to see how did the EU start to fall as well as the aftereffects of the failure of rebellion. Can't wait to see it.

No bike cockpit, poor otaku, they can see ass-breast images.

However the alexander will out like robot spirits too, more better in my opinion.

Alexander looks like it was based off a bug. Sorta like how the Guren was based off the Geass Eagle which sorta represented Kallen's loyalty and commitment to Zero and his miracles. While the Lancelot is just a standard White Knight which Suzaku matched very closely to a fault. Ironic that the Lancelot, the White Knight, would fall and Suzaku would arise as the Black Knight, Zero. Perhaps to represent Lancelot, the white knight, who fell from grace and later quit his knighthood after Arthur died.

Wonder what the Alexander will represent.

In my opinion the Alexander would bury the Guren Mk.2 in a head on battle!
And I like the fact that it's rifle is called "Judgement". The U.S. Air Forces A10 Thunderbolt 2 has a 30mm gun called "Avenger" coincidence?

It appears that some Japanese fans have already started to come back from the first August 4th showings.

According to them, the second episode is set for Spring 2013. I'd like some confirmation, but it seems plausible.

Looks like Bandai discovered a gold mine with Gundam UC in the OVA market.

Now the long wait for the BD rip, I think a November release is optimum

However, the OAV contradiction is: they give the alexander, the best kmf of UE to a eleven squad everyone consider a sacrificable crap?

Interesting paradox.
