Is there anything else interesting mentioned in it?
If you don't mind telling more, that is.
It's from a Shingeki no Kyojin special section in August 2011 issue of Bessatsu Magazine.
I haven't read them, but the novels that covers timeline prior to the manga, also features these prominently as it covers the time period when 3DMG were invented.

Hmm other info... mostly boring stuff
Spoiler:

I'm probably gonna pick up the "Before the Fall" novels sometime as well, seems pretty juicy.

It looks like people in the anime threads have (correctly) speculated that the Renegade Titan is Eren, they've even speculated where he is based on where the Titan's weakspot is

Some of them are even wondering what the implications could there be if people can turn into Titans.

With that said, it really makes you realize just how little the manga has actually told us about the grand scheme of things in SnK. I really hope the next chapter gives us some much needed exposition.

About them knowing where Eren is located in the titan. It seems the anime-only viewers didn't figure this out, but it was spread around by yankky5, who seems to be a manga reader from the looks of his post in the Q&A thread.

Next episode you will probably be able to.

The only thing I'm note sure of is if the hand biting part is too spoilery. The need for wounding himself to transform will probably be revealed in episode 9.

no, it was more like, the manga readers were hinting at that(and some where outright just spoiling it) since eren first got eaten

If you don't mind telling more, that is.

The blades are probably made from hardened titan material

It could be, but I doubt it because titans melt after they are killed.

Doesn't keep the walls from being made of Titan.

Those titans seem to be still alive, they are just in an unconscious state.

However the hardened material that they create still remains after it gets detached from their bodies.

Anyway it's clearly not steel so I doubt it's involved in the production of blades.

Spoiler for there is:
Are we sure this has been explained? We know humans are located in the back of the neck of a titan when they transform in it.

But there doesn't seem to be a human hidden in the back of the neck of a regular titan. We could guess the back of the neck being a regular titan's weakpoint is related, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Well. We don't know that.

I mean, I think it's a likely explanation that a regular titan's former human "core" if you will, is located exactly in that spot.

But I have a feeling, that they're completely transformed into a titan permanently, and no longer retain a human shape there... just the vitals. Which would explain the weakpoint.

I agree with Aohige, it would be really strange if the recon corps never realized that there were distinguishable human bodies inside the chunk of meat that they cut off from the Titans they kill.

It is likely that the "human body" inside them underwent a total transformation.

funny fact from image thread
almost everyone on right = titan while people on left = human
they should switch eren with armin with Mikasa
so we have right = titan // left = human /// middle = super human

for all we know even armin and mikasa may be titans and they still don't know it.Afterall they are childhood friends so eren 's father may have wanted to protect them too.(as for armin i am not so sure but there may be a high chance for mikasa in my opinion. She is just too overpower. From n 2 to n 5 they are all titans )

The next thing you know, even Riva and Irvin are titans....

No. Why can't there just be strong human?

I've read a theory that the ape titan might be Levi because they both reacted with disgust after killing a titan.
If it wasn't for the fact that the former doesn't know anything about the people inside the walled country I would consider this
It is still funny to note this similarity though.
