Nowhere on that cover does it say "We are animating The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya".

They haven't actually said anything about this new rerun. Ergo, they aren't lying.

Besides, we don't really know how long this new run is going to last for at all.

(Hell, Sighs could even be two episodes.)

We don't know anything. Stop assuming that we do.
It is a uniform that matches one from "Disappearance" down to the tapering ends of the bow. If you think "We are animating The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya" wasn't the message they were trying to convey with that image, then I'd like to know what message they were intending?

I will admit, however, this whole thing will be much less annoying in the long run if they do a true second season in Fall or Winter. But it costs money to make episodes, so even if they do this the quality of the animation will certainly suffer.

So what if it's the same uniform? It's just a picture.

A picture is not concrete information, nor does it mean anything by itself.

We, the fans, were the ones who attached meaning to it. I keep saying this, but...

Whether it was literally stated or not, you can't deny that the implied message was "Disappearance" and then not giving the viewers that is simply mean.

They might not be liars, but they are jerks.

As you speak English fluently, I know there is no plausible way you are unfamiliar with the saying "A picture is worth a thousand words." What words would you associate with the picture?

There, thank you.

Yes, that they are. They are jerks. But they aren't liars.

"Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya"?

That's a subjective assumption based on preexisting knowledge, however. Nowhere in that article did they actually bring up that picture and discuss it.

I know they're fucking with us, I just object to people saying that they're lying. Not the same thing.

Haven't had the chance to watch the episode yet (summer class) but I'm taking that the animation in this iteration wasn't so shitty as in some of the previous episodes.

Would you accept that although they did not technically lie, they were purposefully attempting to lead fans of the novels to a false conclusion? I think we agree on the spirit of what they did, and are just quibbling over technicalities.

I accept this.

They're like that girlfriend that we wish we had. In the end we either:

1. Happy Ending

2. Failboat

Art and animation both, yes. They didn't abuse lighting effects and desaturation this time, thought they did use camera techniques present in S1.

It's a fair tradeoff if you ask me.

I don't know WHAT they're doing.

I'm just saying expecting anything at this point is a bad idea.

Exactly. It's pointless to guess the reasoning behind this. We don't know.

Probably wouldn't be nearly as much butt hurt over these new episodes if Kyoani could stick to this style/level of quality.

No, we find it painful

And without an FF, since I was watching it live it became more so

If Kyoani has even a modicum of sanity, they'll be adding ALLOT more episodes in this season than what they had in Season 1. Because filling up half your total episodes with stuff like this is going to murder DVD sales no matter how you try to pull it.

A:Chunk all endless 8 episodes onto the same DVD's
=people buy the half of the seaon DVD's w/o endless 8

B:Splice Endless 8 episodes throughout the other DVD's
=A bunch of people don't purchase anything and just pirate the episodes they want online.

Because allot of people are annoyed that Endless 8 hasn't ended yet.

I only really disliked E8III, as it had nothing going for it at all.

E8II had the general atmosphere of WTF, E8IV had the plane and the theater scene, and this has the epic clock screw thing.

I'd like to see someone take all the cool scenes from each episode and put them together into one, epically cool episode.

That'd be awesome.

Most of these people are ones who haven't even watched the episode.

Erm. Isn't purposefully misleading people for material gain the same as lying? Or rather fraud, which is simply a more serious form of lying.

I vote on an episode by episode merit, so I don't really take previous episodes into account when rating, I save that for the overall series impression poll.

This episode was pretty well done, probably on par with episode 3. The perspective shots and animation improved greatly over 4-5.

----

As for the entire thing with Disappearance, we honestly don't know if they will show it or not, so we can't say if Kyoani was "deceiving us" or not until we know for sure that this will end with Disappearance being aired or not.

Part II also had the awesome fashion and fan service. That was win.

I guess I've just kind of become apathetic to the new episodes coming out.

Who said they were misleading us at all? We made the assumption that "art from Disappearance means they're animating Disappearance".

It's still fucking with us, but it's technically our fault for expecting something.

In any case, since spring, KyoAni has pretty much turned into a joke, and Haruhi with it. That's the real consequence here, and the real reason why I'm pissed.

Exactly. The votes in between those are the ones that really matter.
