The only thing about Asuna breaking free is: "now what?" I mean, it's not like she can really run away from Sugou given that he has GM powers. As soon as he goes to check up on her and sees she's not there, he can just pull up the console and transport her back, and at that point he'll surely be less accommodating (for one thing, that number panel has got to go...). I'm going to assume that, based on the delay in opening the gate (from when we saw her figure it out) she picked her time carefully, understanding his schedule and when he usually shows up, and assuming the gate stays open maybe she's planning to return before his next usual check-up. In the meantime, I guess she can try to get info on her situation and see if she can't somehow get a message out to the real world (or at least see if Kirito is in the game).
If she manages to get down from the world tree, that's a good thing in the sense that Kirito would no longer have to worry about getting up there, but she may not be able to find her way back up either. Perhaps she'll be able to figure something out from her vantage point. Anyway, we'll have to wait and see.

Second great episode in a row with Kirito vs Eugene which was easily on par with the Heathcliff duels, maybe even better since this time the fight had a flashy and satisfactory conclusion (that dynamic finish..wow)
Plot advancement and fanservice were not forgotten either this time so: solid episode in general. |

It would be very unlike Asuna to wait in the cage like a princess waiting for the prince to rescue her. This is nothing less than what I would expect from her. I think she has a very good chance to be found and locked up again, but perhaps she can do enough before that to help Kirito's mission in some way.

Keep in mind that things probably happen that we don't see, and for all we know she just recently had a visit from Sugou. If so, that makes this a perfect time to try and escape because she probably wouldn't have him visit again too soon. It's pure speculation, of course, but it's certainly the way I'd do it of I were in a similar situation. Otherwise you risk him showing up and catching you.

Oh, I know what they were asking, that's why I answered as I did. I personally like some fan service, and it doesn't hurt SAO to have it, so I don't think it would improve it at all if it were all cut out. I was just pointing out that it's realistic to HAVE it because all MMO's do.
