It just didn't get enough attention (the Mika & co. side story, that is). That's all there is to it. I think there was an assumption on the producer's side that people would already have a fair grasp of Kaon and Himiko's relationship from Chikane and Himeko in KnM. But I still think there should have been an episode more dedicated to just them, in order to develop those characters and the relationships... since they're really not straightforward characters.

I agree with that completely. I'm a big fan of KnM, so I knew all about Chikane and Himeko's relationship, and thus knew what was going on with Kaon and Himiko without it needing to be explained. I actually only heard about and started watching this series because of the two of them being in it. Maybe it's changed my perspective of the show. Even though it's just snippets, (although episode 9 had a lot of screen time to them) I'm mainly watching this to see what happens to Kaon and Himiko. Of course along the way I've come to like the other characters and care about what happens to them as well. And thats perfectly fine you don't care for them Skyfall. I'll enjoy their scenario enough for the two of us.

Well, i have not seen KnM, so maybe that is why i lack interest in their story As Sorrow-kun said, they just didn't get enough attention to be interesting enough as a stand-alone story. It is a fairly weak side story, where the relationships between the characters is clear from the get-go, and they don't change practically at all.

Sure, Mika didn't turn out as flat of a villain as i thought she would be, but still ... it's hard to think of her as anything else when the only character development she had was revealed to us 2 minutes before her death. Doesn't help that 70% of Himiko's lines are "Kaon-chan...".

Perhaps i would be more interested in them if i would have seen KnM, but i have not And judging by the majority of comments it was not that good anyway, so i doubt i will any time soon. Correct me if im wrong

problem here is the length of the series...i would have loved to see more development of the side characters but that would need about 24 eps ~ and with that comes a big chance that fillers will come into play lowering the enjoyment of this series...i prefer things to be condensed and to have that impact ~ and tbh noone wants to see kyoshiro struggling with his feelings for 5 eps...tho it would have been interesting to see setsuna fully break (no i must not think that >.<) ~

and for KnM...its one of those series that has terrible start but the end is just godly! (get your "kaon"/"himiko" fix over there )

Army of bishoujo AA dolls. Bath scene of Kazuya and his harem. Wedding dresses for all. Kazuya kissing recalcitrant brides to sleep. Soujirou's devotion. Himiko's devotion. Cooperation with the pretty boy warriors. Kyoushirou awakening from his onii-con dream. Kazuya casting aside the horse-pin and Setsuna slipping it to Kuu, whose memories it slightly awakens. Final scene of Kyoushirou calling out to Kuu and she quizzically beginning to remember. Kuu is wonderfully empty. Setsuna is the heroine.

The plot development was kind of mechanical, but still quite enjoyable.

I'm not that familiar with KnM (although I will be soon), but the Kaon-Himiko romance is strong for me. I don't think it needs a long build-up. It was well drawn in just a few scenes. I fear that extending this show to 26 episodes would be too much for the story to bear. I think the speed keeps us from worrying about everything making total sense. And keeps this a series without any filler.

If this show was planned to be 24/26 episodes, then i'm affraid we'd be running into filler territory. Sure i'd like that, but at least with 12 episodes its just focused around the very interesting storyline. Just like with KnM.

first few minues into the ep...we see Tarlotte get taken by kazuya with sojiro defeated >.<

kuu is still in her trance but see still writes those letters subconsciously even tho she deosnt know why ~ setsuna doesnt seem to be brainwashed and kaon is just in a state of pity...

sojiro goes to gather a group to counter kazuya ~ he first goes to kyoshiro but he is just in a lifeless heap...next he goes to jin ~ who shares a history with him...he agrees to help out and the team is set...

Tarlotte struggles to be free and not even kazuya can carm her down like a gentleman...then we see something extrodinary...kazuya is actually able to absorb the mana right from the AA's bodies...using this method he manages to shut Tarlotte up ~

himiko tires to act on her own but is saved from a falling doom by sojiro...she tells him about mika's fate and he asks her to join the attack on kazuya's castle ~

also in kuu's state of mind she lets her broach get tossed to the ground by kazuya thinking that its junk...

kazuya then begins toi nitiate the "wedding" but is interrupted with feelings that his castle is under attack...he then send out his "lesser AA" troops (clones to put it one way) to deal with the intruders...

in the end only kyoshir, sojiro and himiko who manages to reach kazyua leaving the others who have fallen in battle...

setsuna tries to help kyoshiro but she is also put to sleep...but before all this we see he handing kuu the broach...this seems to have snapped kuu out of her trance state ~

the ep ends with a chiffhanger ~ how will kyoshiro ever beat the invincible kazuya? O.o

Ah, Setsuna is so sweet.
-Those soldiers are Steel Angels, I think.
-I was wrong about the Morality Squad, since they're against Kazuya, not working for him.
-Animation for this episode was all over the place, but the close up shots were really good as usual.
-Waruteishia wins for longest hair (and the biggest hat lover... ).

-Himiko was hilarious when she was brandishing her uber-cello.
-Music was great, especially during the fight scene.

Wow, I really enjoyed this episode. The fight scenes were entertaining, and the music included was lovely. I thought it was sweet to see cat girl show concern over Soujiro. She really does care about him, even if she is a lose cannon. Watching Soujiro and Himiko kick some ass = <3. Last episode Himiko was taking some initiative by saving Kaon from the beam, but this time, she's actually physically taking out the enemy to save Kaon. I thought that was all kinds of awesome. In my opinion, Kyoshiro has redeemed himself. He was out there risking his life to save Kuu, which says quite a bit about him at this point. To be honest, I'm feeling a bit sad that we're so close to the end. Only two more weeks left, and this has certainly been an interesting ride so far.

Duuur, most of the people I know adore Kannazuki no Miko. And I know A LOT of people. If you're reading online reveiws... uh. Don't. Yeah, there we go! Most of time their opinions, so I generally don't recommend taking them seriously.

The original shoujoai.com had better feedback, but allow me to say that well... KnM would be crap without Chikane and Himeko. Their chemistry is the best I've EVER seen, each scene their in is better than the last, It's emo tastic but the ending... makes it aaaaallllllll better.

KnM is a one woman show, and it's probably a show you appreciate more on a technical level.

Well, all that is left is for Cielo to turn on Kazuya I assume Cielo will have either Kuu's or Waruteishia's personality. Or perhaps Waruteishia will be the dominant one, in command of the body, but with Kuu still being there talking with her, trying to convince her she is wrong in doing all this (And eventually succeeding... then Cielo kicks Kazuya's behind, who in return dies from a shock that his beloved Cielo does not like him, and Cielo splits back up i9n the seperate AAs, and Waruteishia kicks the bucket

Sounds cheezy, i know. But i could imagine that happening

It would have been good had it's flaws weren't as obvious and invasive as they were (and by "flaws", I mean the mecha fights). The romance aspect of it isn't too bad if you don't mind a bit of melodrama (but what shoujo-ai doesn't have melodrama.) As Deathkillz says, it really picks up towards the end, though. Hell, even if you don't like the story, you could almost watch it for the music alone.

26 eps would be far too long for this series. That's why sometimes I think the 12/13 ep seasons are too restrictive, since you either have to wrap up your story in 13 eps, or somehow extend it to 24, and on many occassions some sort of compromise between the two would have worked best (Air immediately comes to mind).

You said it! Since the conclusion is approaching, the staff woke up and getting serious to make the rest of the story as interesting, serious, and thrilling as possible. I also like that the show ends short, thus preventing the disgrace to be swarmed up with unnecessary fillers, although the only inconvenience of ending short is that the main characters either some will not be developed further or others will not be explored more.

What can I say? Leave it just like that.

In addition, the soundtrack has getting wonderful and more emphasized as the conflict is approaching the climax. It has picked enough attention on me to go and get it.

For once I will comment that Kazuya's corny speeches did pay a positive influence on me.

They made me pay focus and attention more onto Sojiro and Himiko's teaming up scenes.

Those two are great characters. Even if they are supporting cast their roles have been elevated to make critical contributions for the last battle, or at least they shine as believable characters whom we can care for in episode 10.

And it is good to see that Jin and his order of guardians came out to lend a hand (Sojiro requested Jin for help) to storm Kazuya's castle and do some fighting. But I am bit upset that the guardians fell down too easily. They should at least have survived the first fight in this episode and be put out of comission in the next one.

IMO, Sojiro himself has been outstanding support characters since his inception into the storyline. He never lost his gentleness even after that dreaded when Kazuya let loose the AA's.
I suspect that it was Kazuya who gave him the scar on his face.

Ok. It was natural Kyoshiro's reaction at the start of the episode to feel miserable for himself, however, it surprised me that he got over his self-pity quite quickly and last grew spine to arrive into the castle and helped the resistance group.
Well, I admit his return entrance was cheesy, but I loved when he and Sojiro stroke fists in friendly manner with each other to amend their brotherhood and forgive each other.

I agree with this. I really enjoyed how all the secondary/minor characters had the spotlight in this episode. It's up to them to save the leading cast. Everyones resolve to save the AA's and stop Kazuya was every enjoyable to watch. To be honest, I was surprised to see Jin turn into such a good guy. I've distrusted him since he was first introduced. He always appeared to have his own hidden agendas, but in the end he pulled through for our team.

from my perspetive ep 10 was done fine...keeping in with the mood of the series ~ nothing too extravagant but satisfying visually
