She is not giving up. It is just a Japanese gesture that sounds romantic in English language :/
You often hear in Japanese fiction something similar/same, tough usually it is mothers or siblings saying it when their child/sibling make a new friend. It would mean something like "In that social group, please be their supporting friend".

I don't think they were actual Tsuchigumo youkai like he is, just some minor spider demons from Kyoto.

In a Volume 21 Omake she also had long hair (all characters got their hairstyle screwed by Hiroshi in that volume's omakes XD).

Ryuuji's reaction's were priceless: "My little sister can't be this cute!" and forced her to cut her hair because else he can't make himself shower her with blows while training XD

Heh, the Tamazuki fight was disappointing, but it just went to show just how awesome he still is.

Likewise, it seems Rikuo / Yura's match is nearing its end. Could Yura's transformation be another manifestation of Hagun?

Yep... she fuses Hagun with another of her Shikigami (like during the Cannibal Village mini-arc) and than fuses them with herself.
She probably has a different appearance and abilities depending on which Shikigami she used (it is very similar to Rikuo's Matoi... but supposedly it is dangerous to her body... so unfortunately she probably won't use it often

)
