That is indeed a possibility. Though what was shown in the trailer did seem to be taken entirely from Tsumihoboroshi-hen.

Cutting it down to just 2 movies, with a Question arc and corresponding Answer arc, at least makes sense; adapting an Answer arc, even in part, without first having adapting its Question arc doesn't make sense.

A fansubbed version of the movie is now available. I haven't downloaded it yet though, so I'm not sure what the quality of the translation is like.

I've downloaded it raw, but my ears don't work very well for japanese and I don't feel like downloading 1.5GB all again just for the sake of the subtitles

Just finished watching this tonight and i actually really enjoyed it, i was abit unsure about the casting choices at first but soon accepted them, only bit that i really couldn't stand was the "usoda" but apart from that it was aewsome. Really impressed by the needle ohagi bit

I watched the first part and I don't think it's that bad until now! The only thing I dislike right now are Rena's and Tomitake's actors, but the others are really okay in my opinion. Ohh and I didn't like the Usoda-Scene as well ... it just ... wasn't "scary" at all. In all adaptions, that was the weakest Usoda Scene ... This scene was even in the voiceless visual novel more impressive. ^^

Wow what an excellent movie! And Hanyuu made an appearance as well!

I only wish it to be more freaky and have a couple more pop out scenes. (Btw the pop-out scene in the movie was done perfectly!) As being a horror movie freak this is what could have been done to keep the scary undertone of the whole movie.

They (like I already mentioned above) could have added more pop-out scenes.

Spoiler for Spoils truth to the story (Don't read unless you finished Kai):

Like how he is starting to experience hallucinations of Rena/etc. trying to kill him and what not. They should of took advantage of that and make more random pop-outs and creepy little girls talking twisted.
If they took advantage of that the movie could have turned out far better than the end result.

Another thing is that the famous "Usoda!" scene was done terribly in this movie I personally think.
They should have not put anime-ish words on the screen first of all and made her actually sound angry rather than someone just raising their voice.
(What was that double Usoda thing they did? That was like wth?)

The character choices for each part where good...besides Rika. The hair was done perfectly for a realistic look but they made her too tall...isn't little Rika supposed to be a child?
(But if they had children for the roles of Satoko and Rika they would just have their lives ruined for what they would have to do...)

But overall the movie gets an 7/10 for me.

But the end with the marker was a need as it would make the viewers wonder about what really happened...
