If her Powers origin a bypass product of the Ship Engine malfunction? ... So many question, so short time to answer... Just focus on the Good storyline...

My thoughts are these:

If Mari’s mind can unconsciously interact with Blue’s AI then she is responsible for the isle incident. Hagino has known instinctively this fact and she wasn’t worried about herself telling the incident truth to Mari. It’s possible that Hagino is worried for Mari, infact Mari, after listening Azanel’s history, may have tought that she was the true cause of the incident and, conseguently, of Hagino’s (her savoir) problems….so her eyes went blank. How would you react when you know that you’re the cause of the death of a lot of people and your life-saver is reputed the responsible (and has a lot of sense of guilt) instead of you? I would feel very very shocked.
This may explain the Hagino esitation to tell her truth and her very emotional reaction at the end of the episode: she is worried that Mari may isolate herself fromt he world in her shock state.
When little Mari would have interacted with Blue's AI? When she has seen the huge and scaring ship....she may have felt fear and conseguently her mind sent in tilt Blue's AI activating the Emil Force.

Master Commander had someone from the Novaal purposefully sabotage Blue's Emiru Force Drive before Blue left Arume's home planet.

She also probably did some digging about Azanael, found out about Onomil, and placed her specifically on the Blue so that she would die.. Master Commander acted pretty damn confident that Azanael would carry out her mission.

Not really sure why.. there's a lot of reasons why Master Commander could hate Ekaril. Or perhaps by blowing up the Blue and killing humans, Master Commander was hoping to trigger a war. (Her war-like actions can also be seen when she chooses such a weird location for a fight with the Blue. Almost as if she wants people to see.)

Something really peculiar is how Ekaril is the only Arume with black hair.. Perhaps that ties in? Maybe Master Commander is jealous of Ekaril's hair.

Anyways, to continue:

When Azanael arrives back to the Novaal, she will be betrayed by Master Commander and arrested.. at which point she shoots a few people and runs.. but doesn't get very far.


edit: I forgot to mention.. I started thinking about this ever since we were shown the scene with Onomil. Right before she dies, she says "Commander, this ship is ....." Now what could she have tried to say?

Hmmm...interesting that Ekaril's black hair is now being noticed. I nearly got crucified for positing theories on that a few pages back. Must have been the suggestor and not the suggestion that was being called into serious question.

Speaking of hair!

I've come to final decision on the woman at the beginning of ep 1 - and it was actually my first choice. I believe, no actually feel quite sure, that the woman is

Micchi. Not Mari.

A lot of the reasoning people have given for anyone was based on hair colour. I'm at fault there also. What's interesting though is that Mari's hair colour has never matched the woman's, it's not far off but it's too reddy-brown. And Micchi's 'initially' seemed too dark.

1) After episode 9 and 10, I can see that it was only dependent on the light:






2) Secondly, look at the behaviour of this woman. She's a journalist/writer (ala Micchi), she's on board a UN ship (Micchi has always been the mediator - Dr. Lurve herself, 'I can really see you two getting along Mari!), and she comes out with an ambitious philosophical literary quote. Can you ever imagine Mari coming out with something like that? I know people mature and change, but good god o_O. I'm waiting for the upcoming scene where that quote is first used too.


3) My final reason is something I can't really prove. I've listened to that woman a few times, and the first sentence she says = most definitely sounds like Yukino Satsuki. Being that the seiyuu is so good, especially at disguising her voice, it's not as obvious in some of the other lines (but then young-Micchi doesn't sound like Satsuki-san much at all!). But yeah, that one first line when she laughs - go listen to Mirei from Hitohira and you will know what I'm on about.

I think it makes more sense if it's her anyway. She seems the right person to frame the story. Mari/Hagino are the 'content' if you like.

Wow. I thought I was stretching it with my Ekaril-hid-the-bodies idea...
I honestly can't see any plausibility anywhere in that; mostly because Shivaril was not keen on taking action against the Blue even after she'd ordered it.

Most likely she was about to explain the cause of the problem, but was abruptly blown up before she could finish

Ekaril is not the only Arume with black hair. Seriously. There are at least two from the manga (Misato and Mariel) who are purely Arume, while another (Yui) is mixed, and the captain of the Kelbil had darker hair as well, though not quite black. Also, Arume genes appear to be domnant, since children of mixed parentage retain their glowing blue eyes, so it would be reasonable if their hair color were also mostly inherited from the Arume side.
As cool as it would be for there to be something secret related to Ekaril's hair, I'm 99% sure there isn't. It's possible that, like humans, Arume simply have a touch of diversity going

aah, totally agree. Makes sense and i bet thats it. First i thought it was Akane, because of the hairline, but not anymore. Now we can speculate further to what happens to MARI And HAGINO, since they werent on the ep 1 "what will happen". So it should be safe to say that whatever happens, they will do it together, probably will get the good ending for those two still .

No, no. Don't feel like that. The fact is that there are dark-haired Arume in the mangas. I was going to post that, but decided I'd leave it to FPB, who might have more detail (he did).

I was thinking about it being Micchi last night, but D's screenshot showing hair color in another light cleared one big doubt. We already see Micchi maturing rapidly in ep10. And the negotiator and Micchi both wear glasses. Now I think she is flying off to negotiate with Hagino, who has Mari by her side on Blue. I think of the shot of their faces in the OP, looking off into the future smiling. Hopeful about the future of Arume Earth?

I'd like it to be her, be a good role for her and if it is her then her confidence must have really gone up as she got older, which is nice. If it is her for sure she could be quoting something from the play, which is now another reason I want to see it

I already knew that there were dark haired Arume in the manga. I read through the first and tried my level best to get through the second before dropping it completely. My issue was with the timeline in regards to who may have exhibited this divergent characteristic first. I still hold that it's quite possible that Hagino could have been one of the first to show this bit of "diversity" (read: "one of the first" and not necessarily "the first"). Even with the relative shortness of the timeline with the serialised manga, it's still after the events we see in the anime. That was where my speculation came from. But I'm over hashing out that bit of pondering. End of the line for me.

I gave up ages ago trying to figure out who the negotiator is. Trying to piece it all together was giving me a migraine.

She's committed the sin of losing her head in this ep (well, more like lost her head completely by letting Azanael have free rein of her ship to begin with. I know they're all supposed to be on the same side but clearly someone forgot to remind Azanael and Shivariel of that little fact)....I know that she totally ignored the first rule of combat in never turning your back on an enemy. Mari REALLY must be getting her worked up for her to forget that. There is a bit of a discussion going on elsewhere as to whether or not this ep makes her out to be a "bad" leader. I disagree with that assessment. Even the most brilliant leaders make mistakes and, although this turned out to be the mother of all cock-ups, that doesn't mean she's not a capable, good leader. She's just going to have to pull out a miracle to get herself and Mari out of this predicament. Forge on and all that

actually, instead of guessing who Earthlings' representation is, i'm more interested in the material(s) that are to be negotiated.

my guess is:
- equality between Arume and Human in pursuit of love. it seems that the Arume was treating humans like lab rats and not considering them their equal ... until they found out what is going between Ekaril and Mari. because they see such noble love (remember that Arume's value is in self-sacrifice), they begin to consider equality with Humans.

but then, it seems that the negotiator woman is bitter. what could have happened ? dont tell me Ekaril died the heroic but nevertheless tragic way...

i dunno why i'm suddenly interested in diplomatics in general and UN in particular, must be the UNFCCC meeting in Bali. (scr is indonesian)

it looks like it will take considerable effort to get mari back to her sense, same goes for repairing all the damage on the ship from azanael. btw are there more than 2 ppl on the blue? all you ever see is ekaril and tsubael. how do arume ships get repaired? are there any automated systems to do the repairs.
