Looking for a gritty school life anime with mature (violence, sex (ecchi?), etc) themes. Can't really list any I liked because I don't usually watch this kind of anime. Thanks.

I'll suggest School Days, it starts off as your traditional school life/romance anime, but before you know it you are in as dark and morally bankrupt a tale as I've seen.
